CINCINNATI-- After a come from behind victory in Monday's game against the Angels, the Reds would once again have to come from behind to beat the Angels in the second game of a three game series.
Mat Latos (1-0, 3.00) made his first start of the 2013 season for Cincinnati.
After a 14-4 record in his first season with the Reds in 2012, Latos looked to build on his so-far impressive career in Cincinnati.
Like in Monday's game, the Angels struck first in the top of the second after Latos recorded the first two outs of the inning. Alberto Callaspo would single, then steal his first base of the season. Angels catcher Chris Ianetta would single home Callaspo putting Los Angeles up 1-0.
Latos would find himself in a heap of trouble after allowing a hit to his counter part to put Angel runners on first and third with two outs with Angels lead-off hitter Mike Trout due up. Trout would single to center but Shin Soo-Choo would show off his arm as he gunned down Ianetta at the plate to get Latos out of the jam.
C.J. Wilson (0-1, 8.30)would get the nod for the Halos, as he would try to pick up the teams first win of the campaign. As the Reds had plans for him on Wednesday.
Cincinnati quickly disposed the Angels lead as the 2012 ROY runner-up Todd Frazier belted his first home run of the season to knot things at one a piece.
In the bottom of the 4th Chris Heisey, who got the start in-place of the injured Ryan Ludwick also touched up CJ Wilson with a solo shot of his own, putting Cincinnati up 2-1.
Jay Bruce would get in on the action, launching a 419ft. home run to center against Wilson to put the Reds out in front by two.
After allowing his first run of the game Latos would continued to mow done Angels batters, retiring 9 in a row from the 3rd inning until the 5th until Mike Trout singled with two outs in the 5th, before being gunned down on an attempted throw from Reds catcher Ryan Hanigan.
Cincinnati would tack on another run in their bottom of the 5th inning on a Bruce double scoring Votto which gave the Reds a three run lead heading to the 6th.
Los Angeles would cut the Reds lead in half on a pass ball allowing Albert Puljos to score. Latos would get out of the inning after striking out Howie Kendrick, his 5th of the game and his last batter he would face in his six innings of work.
An error by shortstop Zack Cozart to start out the 8th would turn out to be a costly one allowing the Angels to get within one run against left-hander Sean Marshall. Sam LeCure would come in to face Mark Trumbo and would get the Reds out of the inning keeping the 4-3 lead.
Aroldis Chapman would come in the 9th and allow a single to Kendrick, followed by a sacrifice bunt by Erick Aybar, but was able to strand the runner at second and retire the next two batters to pick up his second save of the season and give the Reds the 4-3 win.
Cincinnati will look try for the sweep on Thursday as Dusty Baker will hand the ball to Bronson Arroyo (0-0, 0.00) and will face Joe Blanton (0-0, 0.00) of the Angels. First pitch is set for 12:35.

Blanton would go six and a third innings allowing 3 runs on 7 hits while walking 2 and striking out 2. All of the Reds runs accounted for in the 7th inning when Todd Frazier and Zack Cozart would hit back-to-back home runs.
Bronson Arroyo (0-1,3.00) was charged for the loss, going 6 innings allowing allowing 4 runs (2 earned) while walking one batter and striking out 3.

Chris Ianetta was named player of the game, going 2-4
while knocking in a run.
Reds Manager Dusty Baker had this to say after the loss to the Angels.
"We couldn't really get any offense going today, when we did it was a little too late. They did a good job late putting insurance runs up on the board."
The Washington Nationals will come into town on Friday to start a three game weekend series. Homer Bailey (0-0, 0.00) will make his first start of the season and match-up withDan Haren (0-0, 0.00). First pitch is set for 7:10 on Friday.
CINCINNATI-- The Reds (2-1) had nothing to show against Dan Haren on Friday night. Cincinnati was shut out for the first time in 2013 3-0 as the Nationals won their fourth game in a row to stay undefeated.
Homer Bailey kept the Reds in the game after only allowing one run on 5 hits, while walking three and striking out seven in six innings of work. A solo home run by Nationals second baseman Danny Espinosa was the only run Bailey would allow.
Shin-Soo Choo came up with 2 of the Reds 6 hits in a game where Dusty Baker and his Reds couldnt get anything going.
"We were really aggressive against him [Haren] tonight. Homer kept us in the game but tonight just wasn't our night," said a frustrated Baker after Fridays loss.

W: Cueto (1-0) L: Strasburg (1-1) S: Chapman (4)
Reds get the best of Strasburg in win against Nats
CINCINNATI-- The fact that young phenom Steven Strasburg was on the mound in Sundays rubber match was not a big deal to the Cincinnati Reds.
The Reds jumped out to a 4-0 against Strasburg behind a first inning home run by left fielder Xavier Paul (his second in two days), along with a three run fourth including RBI hits by Ryan Hanigan, Shin-Soo Choo and Xavier Paul.
Strasburg would only go four innings, allowing 4 runs, on 7 hits, while striking out six and walking two.
Washington would only get to Reds starter Johnny Cueto in the top half of the sixth inning, on a two out RBI double by Nat's catcher Wilson Ramos.
The Nats would cut the lead to one in the 7th, after back to back home runs by right fielder Jayson Werth and third baseman Ryan Zimmerman against reliever Manny Para.
Cincinnati would tack on some insurance runs in the bottom half of the eighth inning on Jay Bruce's second home run of the year, which gave the Reds a 6-3 lead.
Aroldis Chapman picked up his NL leading 4th save of the year, as he has been a workhouse early on. After the game Reds manager said he might have to give Chapman a rest on Monday if a save chance would happen.
Cincinnati (4-2) will hit the road for a six game road trip to St. Louis and Pittsburgh. Monday's game against the Cardinals is set for 3:45. Mat Latos (1-0, 3.00) is set to take the mound for the Reds, while the Cardinals will send Jaime Garcia (0-1, 1.29) to the bump.
