Re: Operation Sports Marlins

Would you guys rather see more frequent updates that are just a box score and maybe some pictures or would you prefer to see more graphical updates, that are less frequent.

Marlins Fall To Yanks In Spring Affair, Lose Jansen

The Miami Marlins not only lost to the New York Yankees, they also lost their starting left fielder. Sascha Jansen left the game in the sixth inning after a slide at second base when he was attempting to break up a double play. After being further evaluated by team doctors in the clubhouse, it was deemed that Jansen will miss the next 6-8 weeks with an elbow injury. In the game itself, Tsuyoshi Shinju gave up four runs in two and a third innings pitched as the Marlins got shutout for the first time this spring. Curtis Granderson hit two home runs for the Yankees and accounted for four of the Yankees' five runs, leading the team to their third straight victory behind starting pitcher CC Sabathia. Gorkys Hernandez has been called up to take Jansen's spot on the roster.

Marlins Kunes' Out With Concussion

Marlins right fielder Matt Kunes has been sidelined with a concussion he suffered in the Marlins' win over the Washington Nationals yesterday afternoon. The rookie was hit in the head by a pitch from Nationals starter Jordan Zimmerman and has been placed on the 15-day DL as is expected to miss 3-4 weeks of action. The injury comes just one day after left fielder Sascha Jansen was injured on a slide into second in an attempt to break up a double play. Right fielder Alfredo Silverio has been called up from Triple-A New Orleans and will take Kunes' spot on the roster.

Re: Operation Sports Marlins

Long Ball Propels Nats Past Marlins

The Miami Marlins wasted an amazing pitching performance from rookie Jake White, who went five innings while giving up only two hits and striking out five batters on only 50 pitches. However, Nick McColgan came in to relieve White and gave up home runs to Andy LaRoche and Ian Desmond, leading to three runs in the Nationals come from behind victory. Bryan Peterson picked up an RBI on a single that scored Jordan Scott from second base following his double, and Dontae' Brown accounted for the other run for the Marlins with a solo home run in the bottom of the sixth inning against reliever Christian Garcia. The Marlins will begin their regular season on the road against the Nationals on April 1st.
