Esmil Rogers Tears Hamstring
Slew Of Roster Moves Across the Minors
Triple-A pitcher Esmil Rogers has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a torn hamstring, and is expected to miss the majority of the remainder of the season.
Rogers started the season with the big league club, but following the trade for left handed relief pitcher Kevin Siegrist from the St. Louis Cardinals, has found himself stuck in AAA.
Relief pitcher John Stilson has been promoted from Double-A New Hampshire to Triple-A Buffalo, where he will take Rogers' spot in the bullpen, and veteran relief pitcher Raul Valdez has been placed on outright assignment waivers.
Third baseman Mitch Nay was also promoted from High-A Dunedin to Double-A New Hampshire. Nay, a top 10 prospect for the Blue Jays, his .341 with 10 homers and 14 doubles in Dunedin before earning the call-up.
The Jays look to avoid the sweep at the hands of the Texas Rangers this afternoon, with Brandon Morrow squaring off against Derek Holland.

Rangers Sweep Jays On Walk Off Bomb
Choo Hits Walk Off Shot
The Toronto Blue Jays were oh so close to avoiding the sweep at the hands of the Texas Rangers, but a solo home run in the top of the tenth inning off the bat of Rangers outfielder Shin-Soo Choo derailed the Blue Jays hope, sending the Rangers to their first series sweep of the season.
Blue Jays catcher Dioner Navarro hit his seventh homer of the season in the top of the seventh inning to tie the game up after an Elvis Andrus RBI single in the bottom of the second inning gave the Rangers the lead.
Brandon Morrow struggled early on, giving up a solo homer in the top of the first inning, and surrendered 10 hits through 6 1/3 innings of work. "Brandon did his job, he kept us in the game," said manager John Gibbons, "It wasn't pretty, but it worked."
Opposing him was Rangers lefty Derek Holland, who threw seven innings of six hit ball, surrendering only the two runs to Brett Lawrie and Navarro.
The Blue Jays continue their road trip as they move to Boston, where Marcus Stroman will face off against Felix Doubront in the series opener at Fenway Park on Friday.

Blue Jays Option Reimold to AAA, Recall Pillar
Boston-- Prior to their series against the Boston Red Sox, the Toronto Blue Jays announced that they have optioned outfielder Nolan Reimold to Triple-A Buffalo and have recalled outfielder Kevin Pillar from Buffalo.
"This was just a case of a player needing to go down and fix some things," said general manager Alex Anthopoulos.
Anthopoulos used current Blue Jays designated hitter Adam Lind as an example of this scenario. Lind was sent down to AAA in 2012 to work on his swing, and has since came back a changed player.
Pillar was hitting just over .290 before the callup.
"Kevin's been doing some real good things down at AAA, so we felt like it was time to give him a shot at the Bigs," said manager John Gibbons. "Of late, we've had the need of a productive bat in the lineup and we're hoping that Kevin can give us that."
Re: Canada's Team: The Toronto Blue Jays (MLB 14 The Show)
Blue Jays Drop Series in Boston
Red Sox Offence Too Much For Blue Jays
Boston -- The Toronto Blue Jays failed to get back onto the right track after being swept in a three game series by the Texas Rangers, dropping two out of three against their American League East rival Boston Red Sox.
Marcus Stroman took the loss in the first game after surrendering seven runs in six innings of work, the first loss of Stroman's young career.
Not much changed in the second game of the series, as another poor pitching performance lead to the Blue Jays' fifth straight loss, matching the longest losing streak they have had all season.
The team managed to turn things around in the final game of the series, barely getting past a strong Red Sox squad by a score of 5-4. However, Blue Jays starter Drew Hutchison left the game in the fifth inning with soreness, and is expected to undergo an MRI later this evening.
"Winning one out of three isn't necessarily what we wanted, but the most important thing is that we broke out of our little slump," said manager John Gibbons, who was echoed by star player Jose Bautista and Jose Reyes.
The Blue Jays head home for their matchup against the Oakland Athletics in a three game series that sees southpaws Scott Kazmir and Mark Buehrle square off in the series opener.

Blue Jays Lose Hutchison
Starter Placed on D.L.
Toronto, ON -- The Toronto Blue Jays were dealt a hard blow on Friday as it was announced that right hander Drew Hutchison would miss the next 2-3 weeks with a pulled hamstring.
The news comes just a day after Hutchison was removed from his start after complaining about soreness in his side. Hutchison will be placed on the 15-day disabled list and southpaw J.A. Happ has been recalled from Triple-A Buffalo to take Hutchison's spot in the rotation for the time being.
AAA pitcher Esmil Rogers suffered a similar injury a few days ago, when he tore his hamstring while delivering a pitch.
The Blue Jays host the Oakland Athletics for a three game weekend series at the Rogers Centre, where Happ may make a start.
Re: Canada's Team: The Toronto Blue Jays (MLB 14 The Show)
Blue Jays Survive Oakland Comeback, Win Second Straight
Jose Bautista threw out the tying run at the plate.
TORONTO, ON -- The Oakland Athletics were oh so close to tying the game up in the bottom of the ninth inning, but a great throw from Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista took away all hope.
Trailing by one in the ninth inning with two outs and runners at first and second, a base hit by Coco Crisp left the Athletics with a decision to make: send the runner or not.
The Athletics elected to send the runner towards the plate, testing Blue Jays right fielder Jose Bautista's arm.
It was the wrong choice.
Bautista unleashed a rocket to the plate, where catcher Dioner Navarro put the tag down to end the game.
Melky Cabrera homered twice to go along with homers from Dioner Navarro and Brett Lawrie, who also swiped his 11th bag of the season.
Cabrera's two solo shots in the fifth and seventh innings were too much for the Athletics, whose loss saw their record drop to 19-29, tied for last in the American League West with the Houston Astros.
The Athletics will get a chance to redeem themselves tomorrow afternoon, when Dan Straily takes the mound against Brandon Morrow. First pitch can be seen on Rogers Sportsnet at 1:07 PM ET.

Blue Jays Walk-Off Athletics In Low Scoring Affair
Melky Cabrera scored the winning run in the bottom of the ninth.
TORONTO, ON -- The Oakland Athletics and Toronto Blue Jays were locked in a pitching duel on Saturday afternoon, with Dan Straily going seven innings allowing one run and his counterpart Brandon Morrow going eight innings allowing the same number of runs, 1.
Edwin Encarnacion would break the 1-1 deadlock with a single past a diving Josh Donaldson at third base. Melky Cabrera would come around to score from third base as the Blue Jays walked off the Athletics.
Oakland got their only offence from Brandon Moss, who hit a long solo homer in the top of the 3rd inning, hitting the facing of the third deck.
Brandon Morrow's start marked the first time all season that the hard-throwing righty didn't record a strikeout.
The Blue Jays attempt to bring out the brooms tomorrow and sweep the Athletics when former Blue Jays Jesse Chavez squares off against rookie phenom Marcus Stroman in the final game of the three game weekend series.

Blue Jays Get To Chavez, Sweep Athletics
TORONTO, ON-- The Toronto Blue Jays swept the Oakland Athletics behind a two runs sixth inning on Sunday afternoon.
Rookie right hander Marcus Stroman picked up the win for the Blue Jays, his third of the season, going six innings while allowing nine hits but only two runs.
Edwin Encarnacion homered for the Jays, who also got RBI knocks from Melky Cabrera, Jose Bautista and Maicer Izturis.
Jesse Chavez took his fourth loss of the season for the Athletics, going five and a third innings, surrendering nine hits and four runs.
Blue Jays catcher Dioner Navarro suffered a right shin contusion after being hit by a ground ball during warm ups and is listed as day-to-day. The Tampa Bay Rays roll into the Rogers Centre to face the Blue Jays for a three game series.
