After taking 2 of the 3 games from their division rivals, the Braves would head to Atlanta for the first time on the young season. The Braves would see Bartolo Colon for the first time in a Met uniform and from the results, they are eager to see him again.
After Kris Medlen surrendered a 2 run homerun to Braves killer David Wright in the top of the 1st inning, the Braves would rebound jumping on Colon early putting up 4 runs in the bottom half of the 1st inning.
Heyward, Johnson, Uggla, and Gattis were able to send balls out of the park in todays contest as the Braves were able to put up 8 runs on 12 hits. Jason Heyward has been perhaps the Braves brightest spot of the season thus far as he left todays game with a .370 average.
The Braves would cruise through the middle innings until giving up a run to the Mets in the top of the 6th to bring the game to 4-3. The Braves were once again able to rebound by putting up 3 runs in the bottom half of the 6th.
So with a 7-3 lead heading into the 8th, Fredie Gonzalez felt pretty comfortable and decided to hand the ball to Aaron Harang for the first time since the bashing he took on opening day in Milwaukee. Braves fans faces went from excitement to worry in a matter of minutes as Harang surrendered 2 runs on 3 hits in his 1 inning of work. It's already being discussed early that Harang being in the bullpen might not have been the best decision but the Braves feel it's too early to make any movements.
This would force the Braves to go to Craig Kimbrel in the 9th on a day they were hoping to give him off with him throwing in back to back games. Kimbrel wouldn't struggle at all though as he sat the Mets down in order to give the Braves an 8-5 win and push them over .500 for the first time this year while dropping the Mets to 2-5.

ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- The Braves have just announced that they have reached an agreement with the Cleveland Indians that will send the left handed relief pitcher Jonny Venters to Cleveland in return for the center field prospect Clint Frazier.
Venters missed the 2013 season after going through Tommy John surgery and never saw an MLB game this season. He has spent his first month of the season in AAA trying to get back in MLB form. The Braves have been looking to shop him as they felt they have enough depth in the pen that allowed the move.
The Braves will welcome in the 20 year old Clint Frazier who is projected to be a future star. With the struggles from B.J. Upton in 2013 and the slow start to 2014, the Braves were ecstatic when the Indians reached out with the trade offer. Clint Frazier will slide right into a starting role in center field for the Gwinnett Braves. If Upton continues to struggle, you could see Frazier find himself in the majors as early as 2015.

I've always been a huge Clint Frazier fan. He's probably my favorite prospect to come out of the draft in the past 4-5 years. He gets compared to Mike Trout quite a bit because of his raw tools.
The fact that he's also from Georgia and he's now playing for the Atlanta Braves is cool too. It reminds me a lot of Jason Heyward's career arch.

Only J-Hey never got traded for an injured reliever.

Well Venters wasn't injured in my franchise. He has pitched the whole season in AAA and was lighting it up. I put him on the block because I really like Avilan and Carpenter in the setup roles.

I don't know anything about him. Never heard of him, but to know he is from Georgia is cool. Good storyline.

ATLANTA, GEORGIA -- After losing the first two games in the three game series, the Reds were able to put together 4 runs on 11 hits to leave Atlanta with a win. The Reds got 6 innings of solid work from Alfredo Simon as he only allowed 1 run on 5 hits.
Jay Bruce was a force to be reckoned with this game as he went 2/3 with 1 run and 2 RBI's including a solo homerun in the 4th. Luis Avilan was tagged with the loss as his early season struggles continue as he gave up a run on 2 hits in just .1 inning of work.
Andrelton Simmons continued along with his hot bat as he increased his hitting streak to 14 games.
