Seattle Mariners: Chase for AL West Dominance

I am going to posting about a franchise I am starting with the Seattle Mariners. I am not a Seattle fan, but chose them randomly as I like playing with Robinson Cano in previous iterations of The Show and they are a team that can compete within the AL West. I have never posted a franchise thread on here for baseball because I have always struggled to complete a season. Now, with Quick Counts, I can play several games in a day and I am hoping to get through a few different seasons with the Mariners. I am also hoping that by running this franchise and posting online about it, it will keep me interested and moving forward.

I will be playing every game of the season using the new quick counts feature. I am using the O.S.F.M. Rosters with Pitch Edits. Since I am not a Seattle fan and am relatively unfamiliar with their roster and farm system, after Spring Training (I simmed) I took the 5 best starting pitchers (by overall), 7 best RP, etc. in the organization to being my big league season with. Since I did this, there may be players playing on my team right now that in real life are in the minors. I am OK with that since at the end of the day it is me who is supposed to be running the franchise.

The next several posts will announce the Opening Day roster, Depth Cart, etc.

Manager Lloyd McClendon Announces Mariners Depth Chart to Start 2014

The Mariners have released their depth chart to start the 2014 campaign on the eve of their season opener tomorrow in Los Angeles. It appears like Lloyd McClendon is willing to use veteran Willie Bloomquist anywhere on the field in any given game as his name appears behind many of the positions, although it looks as if his day-to-day responsibility will be as the DH. Questions rose during the spring about who would fill out the pitching rotation after Felix Hernandez and Hisashi Iwakuma and now we have our answer. Two rookies took the final two spots in 21 year old Taijuan Walker and 25 year old James Paxton. McClendon was quick to point out the inclusion of a sixth starting pitcher, Chris Young, to the opening day roster. He cited potential injuries and the need for a solid long relief guy coming out of the bullpen as the reason for Young's appointment to the MLB roster to start the season. He was quoted at the Sunday press conference saying: "Chris [Young] was a necessary addition to our coaching staff. We realize that we have three young, inexperienced pitchers in the rotation, including two rookies. He may need to step into one of their roles as the season wears on to provide stability in the rotation. He also gives us a guy with great stamina in the bullpen who will be able to provide us with solid innings if any of our starters get in trouble early in a ball game."

Re: Seattle Mariners: Chase for AL West Dominance

I already played several games in April before I started this...so I will be just posting the Box Scores without any write up from those games, and then when I catch up to where I am at, I will do a short write-up on each game a long with the box score.
