Run By The King: Chicago White Sox

Rosters: OSFM
Sliders: Custom
Difficulty: Dynamic
162 games(trying to play all)

Chicago White Sox:
With my Phils franchise getting corrupted and needing something to occupy me, I decided to start a White Sox 'chise. The team has some good young pieces and some needs Vets as well as holes. I think it'll be fun as well as a challenge as it is in a tough division and will be competing with the Tigers, Indians and Royals. I'll be trying to play as many games as I can with a sim here and there, while writing some prospect reviews, player reviews and making realistic trades for me and throughout the franchise. Hopefully you guys enjoy, cause I'm sure I will!

Top 3 Prospects
1. Matt Davidson, 3B
280/350/481
-Davidson is a great 3B prospect and the best of this limited system the White Sox have. The 22 year old has good potential and good power, as he banged in 17 home runs in 443 ABs last year. He gets the third strike often a bit and can get in slumps, but can find ways to get on base besides hitting and is proving he isn't just a power hitter. Davidson could be a cornerstone at 3B for this team, or he simply could be a bench warmer.

2. Micah Johnson
312/373/451
The 23 year old 2nd basemen had good numbers while getting shuffled around last year. 100 runs scored and almost 25 doubles. But it's not his above average hitting that makes this kid good. It's his speed. This guy could outrun a 95 MPH fastball from the pitchers mound. He stole 84 bases last year. He doesn't have the best glove, but his speed and above average hitting makes him an intriguing player.

3. Tim Anderson
277/348/363
Anderson is a SS prospect, and if you haven't realized the Sox farm system is all about the infield. Anderson is an average hitting SS and put up average numbers last season. Like 2nd base prospect Johnson, Anderson has some speed himself. In 74 hits he got an extra base from his feet 24 times and only got caught trying to do so 4 times. Anderson's potential shows him likely being a below average MLB player, but with his average hitting and good speed, at 20, he could develop into a starter and future replacement for Alexi Ramriez.

White Sox Free Agency:

The Sox didn't have to big of a free agency, but got some key players that could help make a run.

Jose Abreu is a power hitting 27 year old Cuban who plays 1B. The Sox are hoping he can provide power and take over when Paul Konerko hangs up. Analysts are guessing for Abreu to have numbers such as .270 and 25-30 home runs on the year, which would be a good plus for the Sox.

Other players added include CFer Adam Eaton, the speedster has the potential to be an above average leadoff hitter. Top prospect Matt Davidson is another member added to the roster, hoping to soon take hold of the 3B position.

Questions
-What will the lineup look like with Abreu, Konerko, Dunn and Garcia fighting for 3 spots?
-How will rookie Abreu perform?
-Will the loss of major bullpen components hurt the White Sox?
-Will the Sox look for new options at catcher or stick with Flowers as the starter?

Re: Chicago... CHICAGO?

White Sox 2013 Review
The 2013 White Sox was a disaster.

The White Sox were coming off a 85-77 year with high expectations and blew it. The team almost lost 100 games, going 63-99, with only 2 players over the .275 mark, and only one over the .280 mark. One of those, Rios, is now a part of the Rangers.

Speaking of hitting, this team had an overall .249 BA(19th OVR and only a .302 OBP(27th OVR)! Two players broke the 145 strikeout mark, and only one could muster 18 or more home runs. Not even one of the players could get 100 RBIs. Extra base hits were a problem too, ranking 29th in doubles and 24th in triples isn't all that exciting. Hitting with men in scoring position proved to be a problem, as the team was 28th in RBIs.

The team pitching wasn't as bad as the hitting, but my no means was it good. They had the 19th best ERA, which was at 3.98 respectively. Strikeouts proved to be a plus, as the team did manage to rank in the top half of the league with 1249. When facing the team, opposing batters batted .256. The White Sox were also short on shutouts throughout the year, and can only hope for improvement.

The White Sox weren't pretty in the field, either. Ranking 29th in errors with 121 isn't what should be happening. Alexi Ramirez led the woes with 22 errors, and Conor Gillaspe folioed up with 17. The catching combo was good on preventing errors, but starter Tyler Flowers allowed 52 men to steal bases on him, but he did manage to catch 16. The catcher duo overall allowed 82 SB and caught 29 men trying to steal. They allowed 16 passed balls with only 9 errors.

The White Sox went through many roster moves. Adding Jose Abreu and losing Alex Rios, Addison Reed, Jesse Crain, Jake Peavy and others. The Sox hope to improve this year, but thinking of them as a playoff team is likely out of the picture.

White Sox add Madson, Deal Matt Lindstrom
By Jeffery Shorts [July 25, 2014 at 11:53am CDT]

After showing interest in Ryan Madson and talking to other teams about Matt Lindstrom, what we've been waiting for has happened. Earlier today Matt Lindstrom was traded to the Tigers for mid level prospects Buck Farmer and Hernan Perez. The two prospects rank 12th and 6th respectively. After agreeing to the deal, they soon countered the loss of their closer by gaining Ryan Madson. The team signed him to a team friendly, two year, 4.54 million dollar deal. If Madson performs well, the club can decide to accept his option for a third year. Madson hasn't pitched since 2011, when he had a 4-2 record with a 2.37 ERA.

Re: Chicago... CHICAGO?

Chicago takes game one 4-3

The first of this 3 game series was a thriller. It all started with Alexi Ramirez stealing two bases on a pass ball to get to third with none out. Sadly, after a 1 out walk, the Sox couldn't get a ball in play to get him home. The game started in the third, where a Kubel homer and an RBI double by De Aza made it one all. In the 5th another run was scored by the Twins, but soon countered by a solo shot by Connor Gillaspie. Coming right back at it in the next inning, Adam Dunn takes it deep to make it a 4-2 game. The twins then brought in their bullpen and the Sox left Sale in through the whole game. The Twins made a comeback bid though, after a quick strike out and 0-2 count to Dozier, Dozier homers. Sale then got an out and almost let two singles derail him, but he still got the last out to get the 4-3 win.

Player of the game: Chris Sale - 9 IP, 8 H, 3 ER, 9 SO.

Following the great opening day, the Sox get blown out in game two and then proceed to lose 2-1 with the tying run on first in the 9th inning.

Re: Chicago... CHICAGO?

Really like the trade and pickup.

I was tempted to sign Madson in my M's Franchise, but my bullpen has done really well so I decided to save the money. I ended up signing him to the Mets after I traded Parnell to the Rockies.

What I really like is the trade though. Perez has the potential to be a starter for you at SS or 2B if you trade Ramirez or Beckham and will force you not to rush Anderson.

Game Recap

The game was a 13 inning thriller. Hanson and Brooks both were stellar, Hanson going 9 innings and Brooks going 8.

The game was tied at 1-1 from two solo shots. Then in the top of the 13th, Paul Konerko comes up and destroys a low fastball to the left field wall.

Ryan Madson went on to stike out 2/3 batters to win the game.

Game Recap:
This game got started by Alex Gordon in the second, where he hit a solo shot. It was then followed up with a Lorenzo Cain triple.

Nothing else happened until the 6th, where Konerko made it 3-1, just for the Royals to counter and make it 4-1. The Royals then scored 1 more run and won the game 5-1.

Game 3:
Chicago White Sox at Kansas City Royals

Chicago (2-3)000000000051
Kansas City (3-2)010010000250

Game Recap:
The final game of the series went to the Royals. Sale and Shields were both stellar, as Sale only let one earned run in off an Infante hit, while the other came from an error by Viciedo which allowed Escobar to circle the bases. This puts the Sox at 2-4 with some problems to solve.

Exactly what I was thinking when I made it haha. I'm a Phils fan and a guy who hates Madson, but I didn't like Lindstrom and considering the Tigs needed bullpen help, I saw Perez/Farmar and it fit lol. Thanks for feedback
