Game #17
OAKLAND 7, HOUSTON 2

Marcus Semien had a big afternoon for the A's.

4/25/15
Oakland, CA (AP) – The Oakland Athletics cruised to an easy 7-2 victory over the last place Houston Astros on Saturday afternoon at O.co Coliseum. Marcus Semien led the charge for the A's, going 3 for 4 with a home run and two RBIs.

Houston (7-10) scored single runs in the first and second innings to grab an early 2-1 lead, but a Ben Zobrist's fifth inning RBI double put the A's up for good.

George Springer had an RBI triple in the first to give the Astros the early lead. It was his team leading 18th RBI in April. Billy Butler singled home Ben Zobrist to tie it in the bottom of the first.

Houston would add a professional run in the second on a Chris Carter double and back-to-back ground outs.

In the fifth, Tyler Ladendorf doubled home Marcus Semien to tie the game. Ben Zobrist then doubled home Ladendorf and scored on an RBI single from Billy Butler. Oakland would add a couple of runs in the seventh and one in the eighth on a Marcus Semien solo home run.

AJ Griffin (2-1) picked up the win, going eight innings and allowing eight hits and two runs. He struck out four.

The series wraps on Sunday afternoon with Brett Olberholtzer (1-2, 4.50) facing Drew Pomeranz (1-0, 3.48).

Game #18
OAKLAND 7, HOUSTON 2

Billy Butler doubled home two in the third inning.

4/26/15
Oakland, CA (AP) – The Oakland Athletics ran their winning streak to four games on Sunday afternoon with a 7-2 victory over the Houston Astros to complete the sweep of their three game weekend series. The A's are now 6-0 against the last-place Astros in 2015.

Oakland (11-9) fell behind early again, but Billy Butler's two-run double in the third put the A's ahead for good and they cruised to victory. Butler went 2 for 4 with two doubles and four RBIs.

Houston (7-11) has dropped four straight as they are now in sole possession of last place in the American League West. They are already seven games back of division leading Seattle and the month of April is still not over.

Drew Pomeranz (2-0) picked up the win, going five innings and allowing just two earned runs.

Houston will continue their road trip on Monday down the coast in San Diego. They will face James Shields (2-2, 2.79) in the opener tomorrow.

Game #19
HOUSTON 4, SAN DIEGO 3 (10)

Matt Dominguez scores the game winning run in the tenth.

4/27/15
San Diego, CA (AP) – The Houston Astros rallied late to break a four game losing streak and take the opener of their series in San Diego with a 4-3 victory in ten innings on Monday evening. Chris Carter's bases loaded groundout scored Matt Dominguez to complete the comeback.

The Padres grabbed a 1-0 lead in the first inning on a Justin Upton sacrifice fly to center, scoring Yonder Alonso.

Houston (8-11) would tie it up in the third on a Jed Lowrie RBI single to right, scoring Jason Castro.

Jedd Gyorko would put the Padres back in front in the fifth with an RBI triple to center. He woudl score on a single from pitcher James Shields to put the Padres up 3-1.

A Jon Singleton sacrifice fly in the seventh with the bases loaded, cut the Padres lead to 3-2. Jed Lowrie followed that with an RBI infield single to tie the game at 3-3.

In the tenth, Chris Carter's ground out up the middle, allowed Matt Dominguez to score and send Houston to the road victory. It was just their third in the last ten starts.

The series resumes tomorrow evening with Roberto Hernandez (1-0, 1.89) facig Andrew Cashner (3-0, 1.20).

Game #20
HOUSTON 2, SAN DIEGO 1

Roberto Hernandez wasn't dominant, but picked up the win and did not allow a run.

4/28/15
San Diego, CA (AP) – The Houston Astros got some timely pitching from Roberto Hernandez to slip past the San Diego Padres 2-1 on Tuesday evening at Petco Park. Hernandez tossed five shutout innings to pick up the win.

Roberto Hernandez (2-0) was not dominant, by any stretch. He allowed seven hits and walked two in five innings, but constantly worked out of trouble. He twice got Andrew Cashner out with the bases loaded to end threats. He lowered his ERA on the season to a paltry 1.50.

Hernandez would get all the offensive help that he would need from Jed Lowrie in the sixth. Lowrie hit a two-run home run off of Andrew Cashner to left, scoring Jason Castro and setting the game up for the Astro bullpen.

Chad Qualls, Joe Thatcher, Josh Fields and Luke Gregorson threw four strong innings to nail down the win. San Diego's lone run came in the bottom of the ninth on a computer glitch play. Yonder Alonso hit a fly ball to right that George Springer caught. As he threw the ball back to the infield, the ball magically ended up somewhere......allowing Derek Norris to score all the way from first base. Replays were inconclusive as to where the ball went, but thank god it didn't cost the Astros the victory.

"Weirdest play I have ever seen," said Houston manager Mike Compton. "Where did that ball go? I have no idea."

The series will finish up on Wednesday afternoon with Collin McHugh (2-1, 4.08) facing Ian Kennedy (1-2, 3.60) as the Astros try to pull with a game of .500.

Game #21
SAN DIEGO 3, HOUSTON 1

Matt Kemp celebrates his big insurance home run in the eighth.

4/29/15
San Diego, CA (AP) – The San Diego Padres snapped a six game skid and avoided a three game sweep on Wednesday afternoon as they defeated the Houston Astros 3-1 at Petco Park on a getaway day matinee. Matt Kemp's insurance two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth proved to be the winner in this one.

San Diego (10-13) grabbed a 1-0 lead in the fifth on a solo home run from Jedd Gyorko. They extended the lead to 3-0 in the eighth on Kemp's two-run blast off of Luke Gregorson. It was huge because George Springer hit a solo home run in the top of the ninth off of Padres closer Craig Kimbrel.

Colin McHugh (2-2) was the hard luck loser. He went seven innings, allowing just one run on six hits. Ian Kennedy (2-2) earned the win for the Padres. He pitched six innings and allowed no earned runs and scattered six hits, while striking out six and walking none.

Houston (9-12) will now return home to face first place Seattle in a four game weekend series. Dallas Keuchel (1-3, 5.48) will face Hisashi Iwakuma (1-0, 3.91) in the opener.
