Re: Redbird Nation | jct32's Cardinals Franchise

Happy to see you starting a new project my friend. I know very little about baseball but I will definitely be keeping an eye on this and checking in. Will you be playing every game of the season?

Nice job picking up the opening day win!

You live in the United States, baseball in our country's sport.

I appreciate the kind comments and yes I do plan on playing every pitch of every game, even it that means it takes me 2 years to finish a season like bhurst.

Thanks for the congrats, it is always good to win on opening day but to do it against your rivals is even better.

Cubs Power Past Cardinals
Arrieta Pitches 7 Strong Innings in Win

Miguel Montero crushes a home run in the second inning

Chicago, IL -- After falling to the Cardinals to open the season the Cubs were looking to give them some payback. The Cubs were able to accomplish that after a day off behind a solid perfromance by Jonathan Herrera at the plate and Jake Arrieta on the mound. Herrera hit his first home run of the year and drove in four runs while Arrieta went seven strong innings before being pulled to get his first victory of the year. In the loss the Cardinals were able to only manage four hits and were realtively weak behind the plate compared to the Cubs.

Lance Lynn took the mound for the Cardinals and had a decent first inning but things really fell apart in the second inning. He gave up a solo home run to Miguel Montero which tied up the game. Then several batters later he gave up a three run home run to Jonathan Herrera which would put the game out of reach. Then in the fourth inning Herrera would double down the line and that would be the end of the game for the Cardinals starter. The Cardinals did get good relief performances by Randy Choate and Matt Belisle who combined for four and a third inning and only gave up one hit between them. So despite the poor performance from the Cardinals at the plate and from their starter there was something good to take out from the game.

Behind the plate we saw newcomer Jason Heyward continue to struggle. He went 0-3 on the night with a strikeout and still hasn't gotten a hit in this year's campaign. One bright spot for the Cardinals offensively would be Kolten Wong. Wong went 2-3 with a couple of base hits and scored the only run for the Cardinals. Wong also picked up two stolen bases against Cubs catcher Miguel Montero.

The Cardinals will play the Cubs one more time tomorrowa afternoon with first pitch scheduled at 12:20 p.m. local time. The rubber game will have John Lackey take the mound against Jason Hammel in the final game of the series before the Cardinals head up to Cincinnati to play them for the first time this year.

I know zip all about baseball but I'm following this. Looks like it was just an uphill climb all game, hopefully you can get back at them next match.

Nice layout, really clear.

Thanks for checking in. Yeah the Cubs really jumped on us in the second inning and we couldn't recover. We have a good pitcher starting next game so I am hopeful we can win the series on the deciding game.

A Letails sighting!? I digress... Tough loss to the Cubs. The pictures look fantastic at the end, quality is top notch. Happy to hear you are playing every game. That is commitment.
