Cards offense is on fire, win 8-0

The Cards take the rubber match of the series, winning 8-0, acquiring 20 hits. The offense was kick started in the 1st, scoring 3, and then scoring 1 or 2 runs every inning until the 5th, where they were quiet until the 8th, when they scored one. Carlos Martinez was dominant, going 9 innings, allowing only 5 hits and no runs. The now Cardinals head to Arizona for a 4 game set.

Re: "The birds on the bat need to get stronger" - A Cardinals Franchise

Cards lose 3-2.

A tough loss in this one, as the Cardinals managed to get 11 hits off of Zach Greinke, but still lose. Jean Segura led off the game with an RBI Triple, but in the next inning, the Cards got the run back on a Home Run by Michael Wacha, of all people. The score remained tied until Phil Gosselin hit a two run home run in the 4th, to give Arizona a lead of 3-1. In the 9th, Matt Holliday hit Jeremy Hazelbaker in, to make the score 3-2, which was the final. As for pitching, Michael Wacha was very good. He went 7 innings, allowing only 4 hits. Jordan Walden pitched the 8th out of the pen, and didn't allow a base runner, and struck out two. Zack Greinke was not as good, but got the win after going 8.1 innings. Brad Zeigler got the save, his seventh.

Re: "The birds on the bat need to get stronger" - A Cardinals Franchise

Cards drop another, lose 4-2

The Cardinals drop another game against the Diamondbacks. The scoring was off early, thanks to a Triple by AJ Pollock, who was then scored by a Paul Goldschmidt single, and then scored again on a Jake Lamb 2-Run Home Run. David Peralta also had an RBI. Kolten Wong gave the Cardinals a run on a solo home run in the 5th, and Brandon Moss had a Pinch Hit RBI Double. As for pitching, Patrick Corbin was very strong, going 8 innings before handing it over to Brad Ziegler for his 8th save. Mike Leake got the loss, going 7 innings, and Matt Bowman got an inning out of the Cardinals pen.

Re: "The birds on the bat need to get stronger" - A Cardinals Franchise

Cards drop series with 4-0 loss.

The Cardinals lose their 3rd game of the series, and look to salvage just a game tomorrow. The scoring was again kicked off in the first by a single by Jean Segura, and a Jake Lamb single, and both were hit in by a Paul Goldschmidt triple. David Peralta had the other two RBIs on a 2 Run Home run in the 3rd. As for pitching, Adam Wainwright was terrible. He only went 5 innings allowing all 4 runs. The bullpen, Broxton, Walden, and Bowman, locked down the rest of the game. As for Shelby Miller, he was great, going all 9 allowing no runs, and 8 hits. In other news, Jake Lamb had to be helped off the field after sliding in to home plate.

Re: "The birds on the bat need to get stronger" - A Cardinals Franchise

Cards snap a 3 game losing streak, win 3-0

After three tough loses, the Cardinals finally take a game. St Louis was quick to the scoreboard, scoring 2 in the second inning thanks to a Kolten Wong double, which scored Matt Adams and Matt Holliday. The St Louis bats were quiet then until the seventh, where Aledmys Diaz hit an RBI single. As for the pitching, the cards finally got a win out of Jaime Garcia, making him 1-4 on the season. They also got to use Trevor Rosenthal in a save situation, another rare feat this season, he got his 4th. Seung-Hwan Oh also pitched out of the St Louis pen. The Cardinals will face the Washington Nationals at home for a 3 game weekend series starting tomorrow.

Re: "The birds on the bat need to get stronger" - A Cardinals Franchise

Cards lose a close one, 2-0 Final.

Nothing much to say about this one, besides the fact that Wilson Ramos went deep, and Daniel Murphy had an RBI Single. Both pitchers went 6 innings, and neither allowed a run. Jonathan Broxton got the loss from the Murphy single. Seung-Hwan Oh gave up the homer to Wilson Ramos. Jonathan Paplebon got the save, his 9th.

Re: "The birds on the bat need to get stronger" - A Cardinals Franchise

Cards set up rubber match, win 3-1.

The Cardinals were in business early in this one, scoring all three of their runs in the 1st inning off of Joe Ross. Wong, Adams, and Flores each had RBIs to their name in this one. Wong on a triple, Floers on a single, and Adams on a sac fly. As for the pitching, Michael Wacha was very good. He pitched 7 solid innings, allowing only 5 hits, and no earned runs. The Nationals run came on a home run by Bryce Harper off of Matt Bowman. As for Joe Ross, after the first, he was really good, going 7 strong innings. Trevor Rosenthal came out of the Cards pen for his 5th save of the season.
