Game 3, 2016: Cubs (2-0) at Diamondbacks (0-3)



Game 3 is under way between the Cubs and Diamondbacks.



Cubs jump out to a quick 2-0 lead in the first.



Mike Butcher with the early mound visit after Robbie Ray gave up his 7th hit and 4th run through 1.1 innings of work.



John Lackey celebrates after striking out Yasmany Tomas.



Matt Szczur comes into the game after Kyle Schwarber was injured in a collision.



Paul Goldschmidt hits a solid single to move Jean Segura to third base.



Jake Lamb gets hit by a pitch in the 3rd inning.



John Lackey gets out of a bases loaded situation, but the Diamondbacks get on the board with a sac fly.



Goldschmidt nails a 2-run dinger to cut the deficit to 4-3 in the 5th.



A little recap of what has happened so far heading into the 7th inning.



Jason Heyward adds an insurance run in the 7th with an RBI-single.



Adam Warren injures himself after a pitch in the 7th inning.

It was a tough day for your Chicago Cubs. Although putting together a dramatic come from behind win to improve to 3-0, the Cubs lost three players to injury, including star left fielder Kyle Schwarber, who tore his ACL and will miss the remainder of the season.

Game 4, 2016: Cubs (3-0) at Diamondbacks (0-4)



After a heart breaking loss, can the Diamondbacks bounce back and grab that elusive first win?



Here are your starting lineups for today's game.



A.J. Pollack slides home safely to give the D'Backs an early 1-0 lead.



David Peralta misjudges the path of the ball, resulting in a triple for Miguel Montero.



Addison Russell gives the Cubs a 2-1 lead in the 2nd.



Montero tags Welington Castillo at home plate to hold the lead for the Cubs.



Ben Zobrist turns a double play to end the 3rd inning.



This date in baseball history.



Castillo looks on as he brings home the game-tying run with an RBI-double in the 4th.



Dexter Fowler's line drive gets past the outstretched glove of Paul Goldschmidt, bringing home Russell. Fowler would later score to give Chicago a 4-2 lead in the 5th.



After Fowler was hit by a pitch, Zobrist made it a 6-2 game with a 2-run homer in the 7th.



Arizona gets into a good sitation, loading the bases with zero out.



Jean Segura takes advantage with a 3-RBI double. The Diamondbacks went on to score 7 in the inning to take a 9-6 lead.

Game 5, 2016: Cubs (3-1) at Diamondbacks (1-4)



The third game of this early series between the Cubs and the Diamondbacks, on a rainy day with the roof closed.



This date in baseball history.



Peter O'Brien hits an RBI-single in the 2nd to give Arizona a 1-0 lead.



After a wild pitch advanced Addison Russell to second base, Matt Szczur's hit was just out of reach of David Peralta's glove resulting in an RBI-triple to tie the game in the 4th.



Jason Hammel looking confident after his 12th K through 6 innings of work.



Dexter Fowler records a sac-fly RBI in the 7th as Szczur slides home safely.



The Diamondbacks respond with a 2-run Home Run by Welington Castillo to take a 3-2 lead in the 7th.



Brad Ziegler records his second straight save after retiring the side.



The Diamondbacks win back-to-back to improve to 2-4, while the Cubs drop to 3-2.

Game 6, 2016: Cubs (3-2) at Diamondbacks (1-4)



Here we are for Game 6 of the 2016 season and the series finale between the Cubs and Diamondbacks.



Today's starting lineups.



Let's take a look at today's starting pitchers.



The Cubbies take a quick 1-0 lead after a sac-fly RBI by Anthony Rizzo.



Paul Goldschmidt ties the game with an RBI-double in the bottom of the 1st.



Jake Arrieta looking like a true ace, striking out 7 through the first 3 innings.



Kris Bryant makes a fantastic defensive play in the 4th inning.



Jean Segura goes down on strikes to end the 5th inning, still tied at 1.



Game summary heading into the 7th inning.



A.J. Pollack with a nice diving grab to rob Addison Russell of a hit in the 7th.



Ben Zobrist turns a double play to end the 7th inning, still tied at 1.



It was a great showing for both starters today.

Game 7, 2016: Reds (1-5) at Cubs (3-3)



Today is the home opener for the Chicago Cubs, as they host the Cincinnati Reds.



Today's matchup on the mound.



The starting lineups for today's game.



Following a base hit by Jason Heyward, Javier Baez got solid contact on a fastball...



...and recorded his first hit of the season, a 2-run HR to give the Cubs an early lead.



Heyward makes a beautiful diving grab, but then throws the ball past his cut off man to record an error, bringing home Jay Bruce and advancing Brandon Phillips to 3rd base with one out. However, Jon Lester got the next two batters to fly out to end the inning.



Alcantara records his first hit of the year, a 2-RBI single to make it 4-1 Cubs in the 4th.



This date in baseball history.



After giving up two hits to begin the bottom of the 5th, starter Raisel Iglesias is replaced by John Lamb, who gave up a hit to load the bases, but struck out Anthony Rizzo and Kris Bryant, then made Miguel Montero ground out to end the inning.



After walking the lead off batter Lester got Votto to fly out, then Devin Mesoraco grounded into a double play to end the half inning.



Alcantara hits his first triple of the season, then scored thanks to an RBI-single by Lester to make it 5-1.



The game summary heading into the 7th inning.



Phillips makes it 5-3 in the 7th with a 2-run home run.



Bryant makes an athletic diving catch to throw Jordan Pacheco out.



Hector Rondon comes in at the top of the 9th. After giving up a single to the lead off batter, Rondon made Zack Cozart ground into a double play then struck out Scott Schebler, but Montero was unable to catch the ball so he reached first on a wild pitch. Tucker Barnhart came in as a pinch hitter but grounded out to end the game and Rondon recorded his second save of the year.



The Cubbies end their 3-game skid and improve to 4-3. The Reds drop to 1-6.



Baez is named player of the game.

Thanks to everyone who have checked in on this thread so far. I was just curious, are you guys enjoying the layout I am using currently? I know it's not as graphically heavy as my usual projects, but this way helps me pump out updates more easily.

Game 8, 2016: Reds (1-6) at Cubs (4-3)



Game 8 is coming up between the Reds and the Cubs.



Here are each team's stats heading into the contest.



Anthony Rizzo fully extends to record an out in the 3rd inning.



After 4 1/2 scoreless innings, Addison Russell puts the Cubs on the board with a 373 foot homer.



A little recap heading into the 7th inning.



After shutting down the Reds for the first 7 innings, Kyle Hendricks' first bad pitch is cracked by Jay Bruce to tie the game at 1.



Jason Heyward is upset after striking out to end the 8th inning.



Tony Cingrani strikes out the final two batters to send the game into extra innings.



The Cubbies got themselves into a good situation, but couldn't take advantage as we head into the 11th inning.



After getting himself into a favorable count, Anthony Rizzo got the pitch he was waiting for and drilled it for the game-winning walk off home run.



The Cubs celebrate their 2-1 win in extra innings.



Rizzo struggled for most of the game, but was named POTG after his game-winning hit.
