Re: Goat Cheese: A Cubs Franchise 2015-

2015 Recap

Record 80-82 (4rd place)

The Cubs battled most of the season for a wildcard slot but feel off a cliff around August. The slump ultimately kept the 2015 Cubs out of the post season. (Side note, crediting a slump to bad advice. Rest your players or they will suck!) Surprisingly the Cards finished last in a tough and competitive NL Central. The Brewers won the division 89-73.

1B Anthony Rizzo - Unfortunately he missed around 3 months with a broken leg. If he was healthy all year the Cubs may have made the post season. Missing 3 months he still managed to hit 30 Home Runs and drive in 82 RBI's with a .332 batting average.

RF Jorge Soler - NL RotY Great rookie season, 11 HR 55 RBI's .276 avg.

SS Starlin Castro - Off year for Castro, .251 avg., 19 HR and 61 RBI's

2B Javier Baez - Amazingly an unexpected bright spot for the Cubs last season. He hit .295 with 19 HR's and 62 RBI's

CF Dexter Fowler - .266 avg, 10 HR and 52 RBI's

3B Tommy LaStella - .259 avg., 2 HR and 34 RBI's

LF Ryan Sweeney - Left field was a platoon position for the Cubs in 2015. Ryan Sweeney played a decent amount of time in left with 293 ABs, .263 avg, 6 HR and 31 RBI's

C - Ryan Doumit was brought in after the Cubs traded Montero to the Reds for some pitching prospects. Doumit had a very productive season hitting .306, 14 HR and 60 RBI's.

SP - Jon Lester 14-9, 205 k's, 3.10 era

SP - Jake Arrieta 8-8, 127 k's, 3.48 era

SP - Travis Wood 6-10, 4.34 era, 170 k's

SP - Jason Hammel 11-9, 183 k's, 3.19 era

RP - Edwin Jackson 2-6, 53 k's 2.72 era

RP - Pedro Strop 7-6, 2 sv, 87 k's, 3.42 era

RP - Neil Ramirez 3-4, 75 k's, 3.13 era

CP - Hector Rondon 2-3, 34 sv, 64 k's, 3.03 era

Re: Goat Cheese: A Cubs Franchise 2015-

Press Conference - April 27th

The Cubs have announced the signing of utility IF Eduardo Escobar. RF Ray Delcarmen has been optioned to Triple-A Iowa.

Press Reporter - Why bring in an unproven player in Escobar now?

GM Box - Rizzo is looking a bit ragged over at first right now. We didn't have any utility infields ready to bring up. Escobar has solid experience and should be a stop gap that we can plug-in where needed. He also gives an option over at 3rd base. (Side note: LaStella has been awful at the plate.)

Press Reporter B - Any reason why Ray Delcarmen was sent down to triple A?

GM Box - We needed to make room on the 25 man for Escobar. He had a crack at the starting job but his sub .150 avg has proven that he isn't ready at this time. Hey I need to hit john (runs from the podium).

Re: Goat Cheese: A Cubs Franchise 2015-

Cin (13-8) vs Chi (13 - 8) April 27th, 2016
Homer Bailey 2-1, 1.21 vs. Jake Arrieta 0-0, 1.38

Game Notes
@ghostOfHarryCaray - Escobar just took a dome shot from Bailey. He looks shook up but was able to take 1st base. Then Arrieta helps himself with a double, driving in 2 runs. Cubs lead 2-0 bottom of the 2nd.
