The Padres came storming into Atlanta eager to redeem themselves after a 10-5 loss to the Cardinals in their last game. Dinelson Lamet came out on fire and dominated the Braves in a 7 inning effort in which he only allowed 1 run on 3hits while striking out 5 and walking 0.
The Padres kicked off the scoring in the fifth inning when Dinelson Lamet showed that he was also very capable with the bat in his hands lining a sharp single to RF with one on (Villanueva) and two away in which everyone thought the inning was over. The next batter Manuel Margot cashed in the opportunity driving in both runners off a triple to deep right center field.
The Braves responded however in the bottom half of the inning when Second baseman Albies ended Lamet’s no hit bid with a towering HR over the right field fence.
We remained in a 2-1 deadlock until the 8th inning when the Padres plated 3 runs off reliever Ramirez from ATL. The inning started with an Eric Hosmer single to left field. Christian Villanueva later grounded to left field scoring Hosmer and advancing Hunter Renfroe to 2nd. Renfroe later came around to score after a Freddy Galvis single. Manny Margot added his third RBI of the night driving in Villanueva after an opposite field single to RF.
Colton Brewer pitched the last 2 innings in relief in the Padres 5-1 win. The Padres are now 39-32 and have tied the Dodgers at the top of the NL West.

The Padres have guaranteed a split vs the Braves after winning their second straight in a 5-2 victory. The Padres hit 4 Home runs, starting in the second inning when Hunter Renfroe and Christian Villanueva went back to back to give the Padres a 2-0 lead. The Padres later hit two more home runs in an inning when Manuel Margot and Eric Hosmer both went yard one inning later in the third. The Padres picked up their 5th run after a Wil Myers Sacrifice fly plated Hosmer. The Braves had a bit of a rally in the bottom of the ninth but was thwarted when closer Brad Hand came in to earn his 16th save of the season.
