Arizona managed just six hits, but edged the Dodgers 4-3. A.J. Pollock had a first inning RBI double and Ildemaro Vargas added a fifth inning RBI double. Yasmany Grandal hit a long solo home run off of Zack Godley in the sixth to give Los Angeles a 3-2, which they could not hold.

Jorge de la Rosa (1-0) picked up the win in relief of starter Zack Godley. He worked two perfect innings of relief. The win was Arizona's fifth straight and improved the DBacks to (19-10).

Notes: Shortstop Nick Ahmed had to leave the game in the second inning after diving for a ball up the middle. X-rays were negative after the game, but he will likely be out a few days.

The Dodgers easily won the third game in this midweek series as Hyun-Jin Ryu (3-1) tossed 7 1/3 innings, allowing just one run on five hits, in a 13-4 rout. He also went 3 for 4 at the dish and drobe in two runs to help his own cause. Cody Bellinger and Corey Seagar both went deep. It was Bellinger's tenth on the season and Seagar's seventh. Steven Souza Jr. hit a three run home run in the eighth for Arizona.

David Peralta strained his pectoral muscle diving for a line drive early in the game. He left and was placed on the 10-day DL after the game. Socrates Brito was called up to take his spot on the roster. The DBacks also made a trade with Kansas City, sending minor league reliever Neftali Feliz to the Royals in exchange for outfielder Jon Jay. Jay will be assigned to Triple-A Reno.

The Diamondbacks won the finale 6-4 to take three of four from the Los Angeles Dodgers at Chase Field. Zack Greinke improved to (6-0), pitching seven strong innings, allowing just one run on five hits, while striking out 6 and walking none. Paul Goldschmidt hit a solo home run, his sixth, and Ildemaro Vargas and Jeff Mathis hit RBI triples to pace the offense as the DBacks won their 20th game of the season to move 1 1/2 games up on Colorado in the National League West.

Steven Souza left the game in the top of the first after making a diving catch in right. It appeared to be a right knee injury. He will be evaluated tomorrow, and his status is unknown for the big weekend series against Houston (24-9).

May 8-9: ARIZONA (22-14) @ LOS ANGELES DODGERS (18-18)

May 8: Arizona 4, Los Angeles 1
May 9: Los Angeles 5, Arizona 2

The Arizona Diamondbacks took the opening game 4-1 on a rainy night in Southern California. Taijuan Walker (2-3) tossed eight shutout innings, allowing just three hits, while striking out five. A.J. Andrew Chafin (3-1) picked up the win, working a scoreless eighth inning.

The DBacks dodged a huge bullet in the bottom of the eighth as Jake Lamb was hit on the hand by a pitch. He left the game for x-rays, but they were negative and he may only miss a few games. He is not expected to head to the disabled list.
