July 5-8: SAN DIEGO (35-57) @ ARIZONA (56-35)

July 5: Padres 7, DBacks 2
July 6: DBacks 5, Padres 1
July 7: DBacks 4, Padres 2
July 8: Padres 6, DBacks 1

The last place San Diego Padres roughed up Robbie Ray in the opener of the four game set, scoring five times in the first inning, on their way to a 7-2 victory. Clayton Richard tossed 8 1/3 innings, allowing just two runs on five hits to earn the victory. He also hit a solo home run to help his cause.

Robbie Ray (6-9) pitched better after the rough first inning, but still took the loss allowing six earned runs in just five innings of work.

The Dbacks rebounded in the second game on Friday evening as Paul Goldschmidt homered for the second straight game, hitting a two-run shot in the first. He would add a two-run single in the third as Arizona evened the series with a 5-1 victory.

Zack Godley improved to (9-2) on the season, pitching seven innings and allowing just one earned run and scattering five hits. Dinelson Lamet (3-8) took the loss for the Friars.

Alex Avila hit a three-run home run in the fifth inning on Saturday evening to erase a 2-0 deficit and send the Dbacks onto a 4-2 victory. Avila drove in all four of Arizona's runs as they remained in first place in the National League West with the victory.

Taijuan Walker (8-5) earned the win on the mound, pitching six innings and allowing two runs on six hits. Archie Bradley picked up his 28th save, working the ninth inning.

The Padres managed to earn a split of the four game weekend series as they downed Zack Greinke and the Dbacks 6-1 on Sunday afternoon at Chase Field. Tyson Ross (4-8) scattered eight hits and one run over six innings of work to earn the win.

Andrew Stevenson hit a two-run home run in the ninth off of Jorge de la Rosa. It was his first Major League home run.

Arizona (56-35) will now hit the road for the final road trip heading into the All-Star break. They will first head to Colorado and then Atlanta. The DBacks are tied with the Dodgers for first place in the National League West.
