Hello and welcome to New Era Orioles - A MLB The Show Baltimore Orioles Franchise

Following a league worst 47 and 115 record in 2018 the Baltimore O's as you have known them are no more. Gone is general manager Dan Duqette who was hired in 2011 to replace Andy McPhail, gone is manager Buck Showalter who was hired following the All-Star Break in 2010, gone is franchise cornerstone Manny Machado who was drafted in 2010 and has been playin in the majors since 2012 as he signed a monster contract with the San Diego Padres this past offseason, and gone is Adam Jones who tenure with Baltimore was longer than all of this other departees as after 11 seasons in Baltimore he has very likely played game as an Oriole. Four cornerstones of the O's for the last eight plus seasons, all now gone as Baltimore Orioles fans might understandable be just a little shell-shocked by this.

The general manager seat seemingly remained empty for what was a curious long time but would be filled by me as the O's have hired and named me, Robert Osmond, as the new general manager. Just a few weeks in on the job I hire Joe Maddon's bench coach Brandon Hyde as the 20th manager in the O's franchise history.

Welcome Our New Manager, Brandon Hyde

With no hopes of contention in the near future there wasn't really much to be done player personnel wise. However, unsurprisingly the club pursued a n existing of interesting youngsters and cheap solid veterans to bolster and round out an existing mix of players that still include several high priced, if not over priced, holdovers from the previous regime.

Back for 2019 from the previous regime are 1B Chris Davis OF/DH Mark Trumbo and both are virtually almost all but impossible to trade due to their high priced contracts. Also back are 24 year old C Chance Sisco, 27 year old 2B Jonathan Villar, 26 year old OF/1B/DH Trey Mancini, and a host of other youngsters who will attempt to prove to the new regime that they belong on this "new era/new look" O's team. Outside of Mancini who is locked in at left field the other two outfield spots are up for grabs for the likes of Cedric Mullins (Age 24), Joey Rickard (Age 27), D.J. Stewart (Age 25), Anthony Santander (Age 24), Austin Hays (Age 23), and Dwight Smith Jr. (Age 26). Battling for the 3B job are frontrunners Renato Nunez and Rio Ruiz both whom are 24 years old, although 22 year old Ryan Mountcastle will look to make a bid for the job himself this Spring. The battle for the SS job should also prove interesting as 24 year old Richie Martin and 25 year old Drew Jackson duke it out this Spring to determine who will be the starter at SS. Dylan Bundy, Andrew Cashner, Alex Cobb, and Nate Karns should all lock down a starting rotation spot but the fifth and final spot in the starting rotation is up for grabs. The question remains, however, who will earn the Opening Day nod on the mound/who will be named the Opening Day starter. Also back to boost and bolster the bullpen is 28 year old Michael Givens, who should he turn in a strong first off of the season be dealt at the 2019 Trade Deadline. The major league roster is young and the team will more than likely be bad, but despite what could be consider a league worst farm system, they should be interesting and there is hope on the horizon. Hope for landing their next franchise cornerstone, their next superstar.

And that hope comes in the form of the 1st overall pick in the 2019 MLB Amateur Draft which should do much to improve their farm system.

Mountcastle turns in to a stud if you let him grow in the minors. In my franchise, I kept him in AA until 2021 and in 2026 he is a perennial MVP candidate and triple crown candidate.

Good luck. It's a tough road ahead.

Have been a life long Phillies fan and am very excited about their potential this season following all their offseason moves. But, when it comes to sports video games I always like to and prefer to play as rebuilding teams/franchises. Last season my main MLB The Show franchise was playing as the Detroit Tigers. I have wanted to carry over a franchise from one version of the game to the next for some time now just have never done it. Am hoping that with this franchise I can get through 2 to 3 seasons, playing every game, by the time the new version releases in 2020 so I can simply continue on playing with this franchise. Normally, with college, work, and everything else I only ever manage to make it through one full season per version. But now that I am doing all online college courses I should have a little more free time on my hands since I am really good at pacing myself when it comes to taking online courses that I should easily have 2+ seasons played/finished by the end of this year.

Rebuilding is the only way to go for me too. Let's me put my own stamp on a team. The Orioles are a tough rebuild. Simming a franchise took me till 2026 to win a championship.

Re: New Era Orioles - A MLB The Show Baltimore Orioles Franchise

Just wanted to point out that I will not be waiting for the OSFM roster to be released. The roster I am using is actually very accurate and has roughly 90% of the each team's full major league team and farm system. However, some of the prospects in the list in the post above are missing, only like 3-4 and nobody overly important. Also, I have edited the roster I am using to have all the update and current contract extensions.
