Re: True to the Blue | Mariners Show '19 Franchise

Servais Ejected as Emotions Boil Over in 5-2 loss

Seattle - Scott Servais had seen enough. After watching his pitchers get squeezed in the top half of the 6th inning he watched Tim Beckham get rung up on a pitch that appeared well off the plate, and all the anger and frustration of the past couple weeks of sub par baseball was let loose on home plate umpire Eric Summersgill. "It was a b******* call. You can print that." said Servais after the game as he had clearly not calmed down. "Eric watched two strikes from Zac (Rosscup) go right by the inning before and walked the guy and then you're gonna ring up Timmy (Beckham) on that crap? All we're asking for is a fair chance." Those comments will no doubt lighten Servais' wallet a little bit, but he didn't seem to care as the Mariners skid hit four games, and contending this year is suddenly looking more and more improbable. "These guys work too hard. I see it day in, day out, they put in the work, they bust their a**, and for this guy to just take it away from them. It ain't right, I don't care what the league office does to me, It ain't right, and I'm gonna speak up for my guys." It will be interesting to see how the team responds to their manger's tirade, as they're reaching the point of no return if they want to make noise this season. They'll look to start that turnaround tomorrow when they send Yusei Kikuchi (2-2, 3.88 ERA) to the mound against the Los Angeles Angels who counter with Felix Peña (4-4, 4.10 ERA). First pitch will be at 7:10 pm.

Mariners Nose Dive Continues as Rally Falls Short

Seattle - The Mariners dropped their fifth straight game on Thursday night, falling behind early 6-1, and despite a furious rally, ended up on the short end of a 6-5 loss. Yusei Kikuchi toughed out six innings to give the bullpen somewhat of a rest despite giving up six runs, and three home runs. Seattle will look to avoid their longest losing streak of the season tomorrow when they send Mike Leake (3-5, 4.91 ERA) to the mound to face Trevor Cahill (6.38 ERA). First pitch is at 7:10 pm.

Bruce's Monster Day at the Plate Leads M's to Win

Seattle - Jay Bruce went 4-4 with 2 home runs, and 7 RBIs, as the Mariners busted out of their five game skid with an 11-7 win over the Angels on Friday night. Seattle jumped out to a huge 11-3 lead before turning it over to the bullpen. Things got dicey from there as the Angels plated four runs in the seventh inning to trim the lead, but Roenis Elias came on and settled down the rally throwing the final 2.1 frames for his first save of the year. Seattle will now try and get a streak going in the other direction tomorrow afternoon when they send Wade LeBlanc (5-3, 4.71 ERA) to the mound opposite Chris Stratton (3-5, 3.84 ERA). First pitch is set for 4:15 pm.

Mariners Fall in Extras 6-5

Seattle - Seattle rallied to tie the game in the bottom of the 9th. Thanks to a two run homer from Tim Beckham, but they couldn't push the winner across in extras finally falling to the Angels 6-5 in 13 innings. Dylan Moore also had two home runs for the M's as he is starting to flourish in his utility role on the club. Wade LeBlanc only lasted three innings before being pulled in this one, as durabilty issues are plaguing the veteran starter. Seattle will look for a series split tomorrow when they send Felix Hernandez (3-4, 4.97 ERA) to the mound to face Tyler Skaggs (5-2, 3.58 ERA). First pitch is at 1:10 pm.

Angels Sink Mariners 7-4

Seattle - Felix Hernandez got touched up for six runs as the Mariners fell in the series finale to the Angels 7-4. Tim Beckham homered and had three hits for the M's as he continued his hot play despite the rest of the team's struggles. Six different Angels drove in runs on the day, as they had their whole line-up clicking against King Felix, who was shaky all day coming off a decent start his last time out. Seattle will be staying in town to begin the week as the division leading Astros come in for a four game set. It'll be Marco Gonzales (5-7, 4.85 ERA) going in the opener against Gerrit Cole (6-4, 3.47 ERA). First pitch will be at 7:10 pm tomorrow.
