Mariners Upend Royals in Opener

Kansas City - The Mariners bats woke up in the Kansas City humidity. Mitch Haniger and Dan Vogelbach clubbed home runs, and Dee Gordon had a 4 RBI night as the Mariners held on for an 8-5 win. Seattle jumped out to a sizable lead after Dee Gordon's third hit of the night. Felix Hernandez pitched seven quality innings and the recipe was there for an easy win. however Kansas City was able to pull it close after Alex Gordon drove in three with a bases loaded double off reliever Matt Festa, and Seattle had to turn to their closer Anthony Swarzak to shut the door. The two teams will be back at it tomorrow evening. It'll be Marco Gonzales (1-2, 3.79 ERA) looking to turn his luck around against Homer Bailey (1-0, 1.50 ERA). First pitch is at 5:15 pm.

Re: True to the Blue | Mariners Show '19 Franchise

Mariners Pitching Dominates in 3-1 Win

Kansas City - Not even a 90 minute rain delay could derail the Mariners momentum on Tuesday night. Marco Gonzales was cruising, giving up just one hit in 5.1 innings of work before Mother Nature got involved in the proceedings. The Mariners had to pull their starter after the lengthy delay, but the bullpen was just as good for Seattle in shutting down the Royals offense. The Mariners got key hits in the top of the sixth just before the delay when Tim Beckham came through with a solo blast to break a 1-1 tie, and Daniel Vogelbach was able to add on an RBI double. The Mariners will look to make it three in a row tomorrow night when they send Yusei Kikuchi (0-1, 5.74 ERA) to the mound to face Brad Keller (1-0, 4.26 ERA). First pitch will be at 5:15 pm.

Mariners Outlast Royals 5-4 For Third Straight Win

Kansas City - The Mariners got a big third inning knocking in three runs, two on an RBI double by the red hot Dee Gordon, and they were able to hold on for a 5-4 victory on Wednesday night. Kansas City jumped out to a lead after Jorge Soler took Yusei Kikuchi deep in the fourth inning. Seattle jumped right back however with a Ryon Healy RBI in the next inning to tie the game. The two teams held serve until the eighth inning when the M's unloaded on reliever Wily Peralta, knocking him around for four hits and three runs. Kansas City answered with another two run blast in the bottom half, but it wasn't enough to catch the Mariners, who have won three straight at Kauffman Stadium, and will look for the sweep tomorrow afternoon. Mike Leake (0-1, 1.38 ERA) will be the one heading to the mound for the Mariners, while Kansas City counters with Jake Junis (0-1, 6.10 ERA). First pitch will be an early one at 10:15 am.

Mariners Fall to Royals in Finale

Kansas City - Alex Gordon hit two home runs, and the Royals knocked the Mariners around for three triples as well, as Seattle couldn't complete the four-game sweep falling to Kansas City 9-4. Mike Leake wasn't helped by his defense early as the usually sure handed Dee Gordon committed two errors helping the Royals cause. The extra runners on base came back to hurt Seattle in a big way when Alex Gordon got a hold of a pitch and drove a three run homer out to right field. Seattle tried to battle back in the sixth inning, but it ultimately wasn't enough to get out of the hole they dug themselves into. Seattle will now fly home and look to bounce back against their division rivals the Houston Astros tomorrow night. They'll send Wade LeBlanc (0-1, 5.40 ERA) to the mound to face Collin McHugh (0-0, 2.00 ERA). First pitch from T-Mobile Park will be at 7:10 pm.

Astros Blast Four Home Runs to Demolish M's

Seattle - Houston clubbed four home runs, two from slugger Josh Reddick, as they pounded the Seattle Mariners 12-2 on Friday night at T-Mobile Park. The Astros got the party started early with six runs in the first two innings, and never let up the pressure on Seattle, who has now dropped two straight after a three game winning streak. Seattle couldn't get the power game going as just one of their ten hits went for extra bases. Seattle will look to get back on track tomorrow when they send Felix Hernandez (1-1, 4.50 ERA) into his court to face Wade Miley (0-2, 8.68 ERA). First pitch will be at 6:10 pm.

Mariners Can't Come Up With Clutch Hit in Loss

Seattle - The Mariners knocked 11 hits on Saturday night, but could not get a single one with runners in scoring position, as they stranded a startling 12 runners on base, and failed to score in a 4-0 loss to the Houston Astros. It was frustrating for the Mariners manager Scott Servais. "The hits are there." said the Mariners manager. "For whatever reason we just couldn't get them when we had guys on, but we had 11 hits, so obviously we're swinging the bats fine. We just need to string them together." The Mariners better figure out how to string them together in a hurry as things won't get any easier tomorrow with Astros ace Justin Verlander (1-1, 5.06 ERA) heading to the mound. Seattle will counter with Marco Gonzales (2-2, 2.96 ERA) as the first pitch will be at 1:10 pm tomorrow afternoon.

Re: True to the Blue | Mariners Show '19 Franchise

Verlander Blows Away M's as Astros Complete Sweep

Seattle - The Mariners could muster just two hits on the day, as Astros ace Justin Verlander struck out twelve, and Seattle looked completely lost at the plate in a 8-1 loss. The Astros swept the Mariners away sending them two games under .500 for the first time this season. "Nobody played well today." said manager Scott Servais, who when pressed about changes to the line-up said he had no comment. Something is going to have to give for some guys however though. Domingo Santana has struggled immensely so far this season, and while the Mariners reportedly love his upside, one has to wonder how much longer he's going to be allowed to toil away hitting well below .200. Seattle won't have much time to think about it as they are right back in action tomorrow night against the Cleveland Indians. They'll send Yusei Kikuchi (0-1, 4.98 ERA) to the mound to face two time Cy Young winner Corey Kluber (1-1, 2.91 ERA). First pitch will be at 7:10 pm.

Re: True to the Blue | Mariners Show '19 Franchise

Mariners Prospect Kyle Lewis out 2-3 Months

Seattle - It's another set back for Mariners former first round pick Kyle Lewis, as he suffered a torn calf injury on Sunday that will sideline him 2-3 months. Lewis is coming off a torn ACL that cost him much of his first year in the minor leagues, and at this point it has to be wondered if injuries are going to derail Lewis, who Seattle is counting on to be a big part of their outfield future.
