Galvis stays hot, mashes 2 homers in Blue Jays' win

TORONTO - All the Blue Jays bats were hot in the victory over Tampa. In addition to Freddy Galvis' 2 home runs, Lourdes Gurriel Jr. went a perfect 5 for 5 at the plate while Guerrero Jr. knocked in a couple of runs. Marcus Stroman (6.2 IP, 5 ER, 10 Ks) looked unhittable through 4 innings of work but stayed in the game a little too long. As Toronto has been struggling lately, Carlos Montoyo was pleased to see things click for his players at the plate.

Notes: Blue Jays activated LHP Ryan Borucki and 2B Devon Travis from the 60-Day IL. RHP Julian Merryweather designated for assignment to clear room on 40 man roster -- later claimed by the Brewers.

Toronto takes hard throwing lefty with 9th overall pick in MLB Draft

Notes: I broke two of my major draft rules this year -- do not take a reliever, do not take a player over 20. I tried scouting for starting pitching depth and there just wasn't anything available, so I took this left hand closer with the hope that we've locked down the position for years to come. He's got 4 pitches and throws 98 MPH and comes out of the draft over 70 OVR. We'll see what he can do. The rest of the draft was pretty ho-hum. I was worried that by manually scouting, I would take advantage of the CPU -- that didn't happen. I definitely needed to pick a few places above 9th but oh well.

Borucki Ks 7 in debut

TORONTO - Down by only one run after 8 innings, there would be last minute theatrics for the Blue Jays. Ryan Borucki (5 IP, 7 Ks, 3 ER) was solid in his first start of the season after spending two months on the IL. If Borucki can continue to improve as the season progresses, it should give the Jays clarity on, at least, one rotation spot for 2020. Despite keeping the Angels mostly in check, Borucki was not able to get the win in his first appearance. Unfortunately, Shohei Ohtani and the Los Angeles bullpen were in form and managed to keep Toronto's offence at bay.

Notes: Struggling RHP Elvis Luciano returned to the Royals organization. The Blue Jays really hoped he could stick around through the season, unfortunately, he just couldn't lock down his control. It was best for both parties that he refine his mechanics at the minor league level.

Re: Hope Will Keep Us Together: Toronto Blue Jays Franchise (MLB The Show 19)

Happ dominates former team, Jays get clobbered

NEW YORK - JA Happ (6 IP, 6 Ks, 1 ER) could be in Cy Young contention if he keeps up his current run of form. Happ has been dominant all season and continued tonight, dusting off Toronto batters like that table in your office you finally decided to clean after 6 months. Trent Thornton did not fare so well, only lasting 3 innings against a very potent Yankees lineup. The Blue Jays have continued to make improvements in some areas this season but this contest was reminder of just how far they have to go to get back into the AL East in the next few years. Surely this will see trade talks heat for Smoak, Sogard and Stroman/Sanchez.

Notes: I sent Sanchez down to AAA for a start to get his mojo back and he has been great ever since. I'm hoping this is a resurgence or, at the very least, a healthy increase to his trade value before the end of the month. I'm looking at trades for Ian Happ, Tyler O'Neil and a prospect grab for Smoak. Let me know if you guys have any suggestions.

I think I sent Pardhino, Zeuch and Tepera for Happ as okayed on the trade discussion forum. He’s been a solid bat at the top of my lineup and versatile. I’ll give him a long look this year.

I’m also looking for deals for Smoak. Look forward to seeing what you do.

Re: Hope Will Keep Us Together: Toronto Blue Jays Franchise (MLB The Show 19)

Thanks for following, been on vacation but back in action now.

I'm tempted to bring in a guy like Happ if could do it in a Stroman deal. I'm really struggling to find the right trade. The Jays are tricky because you still need guys to fill MLB places to avoid stunting the growth of the prospects. I think by the end of July one of Stroman/Sanchez, Buccholz, Sogard, Smoak and maybe Giles/Tepera (have a real soft spot for him) will be gone. I'll likely use Sogard and Buccholz to fill depth voids at 1B and the bullpen.
