Welcome to Beantown - MLB 19 The Show Dynasty

Tanner Allen: Damn, what a view...**** it is cold out here, but I sure can get used to this view.

Chaim Bloom: Me too. This is going to be the start of an epic journey for us. Me, thirty-six, coming off an assistant GM role with the Rays, and you, a twenty-five year old masters graduate from Arizona State University. Why us?

Tanner Allen: Because they know we can make the hard decisions, face the fans, and make one bad team year after year. Ready for this press conference?

Chaim Bloom: Let's go.

------------------------------------------------------------

Hello everyone! Bard is here welcoming you all into an experience. I will be doing a MLB franchise starting at the end of the MLB season. So either the Nationals or Astros are the World Series Champs. In my sim, the Nats just beat the Stros in five games...so there is that! Haha. I am going to be starting in the off-season of the 2019-2020. Chaim Bloom got his conference like real life, but he interested Tanner Allen, me, as the new General Manager of the Boston Red Sox.

I stated simply that I am here to make the easy decisions, and the hard ones. Some many will love, some will want my head, but they were necessary. This franchise is one of the most prestigious out there, and I will not let anyone down.

So, the house rules!

Roster: OSFM up to date to the end of the season
Difficulty: Dynamic
Control: 30-Team, if I do not do well, I will fire myself

Trading: 6 trades in a season (start of off-season to trade deadline)
Free Agency: 5 MLB contracts permitted, only one over $20 million a year per season
Budget: I will do in the next post a budget and stuff I will follow
Extensions: Rarely will I do in-season ones, but if I do it will make sense

With that, this is a go!

Re: Welcome to Beantown - MLB 19 The Show Dynasty

Tanner Allen: Okay, I have the official retirement list of the season. One for us...Dustin Pedroia is officially hanging it up. It is a shame he never recovered, one of the Red Sox greats.

Notable Retirements:

Dustin Pedroia (BOS)
CC Sabathia (NYY)
Edwin Jacksin (DET)
Albert Pujols (LAA)
Jesse Chavez (TEX)
Hunter Pence (TEX)
Brian McCann (ATL)
Curtis Granderson (MIA)
Howie Kendrick (WSN)
Fernando Rodney (WSN)
Anibal Sanchez (WSN)
Robinson Cano (NYM)
Rajai David (NYM)
Jason Vargas (PHI)
Adam Wainright (STL)
Rich Hill (LAD)
Jose Bautista (FA)

Tanner Allen: Some very interesting names on there. Angels and Mets lucking out not having to pay Pujols and Cano anymore, but man, I am starting to feel old with a lot of my childhood players retiring. Now it is time to sit down and look at the budget for this coming season, and see if Chaim wants me to do anything specifically.

Moneys:
Payroll: $127,829,314
Budget: $175,000,000

Tanner Allen: Alright, Chaim. Looking at everything it is looking like since we want to stay under 180 million we will be around 175 million.

Chaim Bloom: Yeah, that is what we were thinking up here, I hope that sounds good.

Tanner Allen: Oh, yeah I can easily make that work. Is there anything specific you would like me to focus on this off-season before I start to do my work?

Chaim Bloom: We are starting our era boldly. Trade Mookie Betts, and land MLB ready talent for him. I am cool with a Lester for Cespedes type of trade.

Tanner Allen: Very bold. Well, alright. That is one thing I will try to make happen this off-season.

Re: Welcome to Beantown - MLB 19 The Show Dynasty

Tanner Allen: Okay, the world series is over. Great series that was, but we did not make it. I have two objectives. Stay under 180 million, around 175, and to trade Mookie Betts this off-season. Now it is time to look at the exclusive negotiations...

Players:

Rick Procello - Let Go
Andrew Cashner - Let Go
Chris Owings - Let Go
Mitch Moreland - Let Go
Brock Holt - 1 year @ $1.5 million

Tanner Allen: Those were some hard discussions. Porcello and Moreland have done so much here, but it is time to move on from them. Okay, next is to find a new coaching staff. Alex Cora decided he didn't want to manage, which sucks, so lets go find a new staff completely. Sandy Alomar Jr is my main target for our next manager.

Staff Offers:

Manager | Sandy Alomar Jr - 3 years @ $15 million
Hitting Coach | Perry Hill - 3 years @ $9 million
Pitching Coach | Mark David - 3 years @ $9 million
1st Base | Ramon Guzman - 3 years @ $8.4 million
3rd Base | Harvey Bernero - 3 years @ $9.6 million
Farm Director | Franklin Aragon - 3 years @ $13.5 million

Re: Welcome to Beantown - MLB 19 The Show Dynasty

Tanner Allen This...is a little intimidating. It is the Winter Meetings, my first one! Now, I am looking to trade Mookie Betts here. I am also on the hunt for a few things; I have four guys in the rotation set, but need a fifth, badly. The bullpen just needs an overhaul, but I need it to make sense...a closer and a decent middle piece. Travis can hold down first base in 2020, I am sure, and I think I will need to land an outfielder to replace Mookie. Lets get to work.

Day 1 Transactions:

Trade:
Dodgers Receive: Francisco Lindor & Phil Maton

Indians Receive: Gavin Lux, Jeter Downs, Dustin May & Andrew Toles

Free Agent Signings:

Angels Sign - Gerrit Cole 8 years @ $229.6 million
Yankees Sign - Steve Cishek 3 years @ $28.5 million
Red Sox Sign - Jose Abreu 3 years @ $46.5 million

Tanner Allen: That was an intense first day, for sure. Landed a big piece to the puzzle in Jose Abreu...it is seeming more and more likely JD Martinez will not be returning to us. Getting close on a Mookie Betts trade, likely tomorrow.

Re: Welcome to Beantown - MLB 19 The Show Dynasty

BREAKING:

Press Conference

Tanner Allen: Hello everyone, as you all know in three days we will be announcing the Jose Abreu trade in Boston, but I have decided to break the news of a trade that we have officially made. Mookie Betts has been traded to the Atlanta Braves for the following players; closing pitcher Shane Greene, outfielder Adam Duvall, starting pitcher Ian Anderson and catcher Shea Langeliers. We wish Mookie Betts and the Atlanta Braves the best in the 2020 campaign. We feel like we shored up our bullpen with the addition of Shane Greene, we added our utility outfielder for the next season in Adam Duvall, and the two prospects added in this deal are ranked 31 and 63 respectively in the top 100, which is something we really need to rebuild upon.

Winter Meetings Day 2 Transactions:

Trades

Red Sox Receive: Shane Greene, Adam Duvall, Ian Anderson & Shea Langeliers
Braves Receive: Mookie Betts

Cubs Receive: Vidal Brujan
Rays Receive: Kyle Schwarber

Free Agent Signings

Yankees Sign Jake Odorizzi 5 years @ $72.5 million
Padres Sign Stephen Strasburg 5 years @ $142.5 million
Tigers Sign Todd Frazier 1 year @ $4.5 million
Angels Sign J.D. Martinez 4 years @ $112 million
Angels Sign Kenley Jansen 4 years @ $73.2 million

Tanner Allen: Hot damn! Today was intense. We did officially lose Martinez, but man the Angels still have a payroll under 200 million (196) after adding Cole, Martinez, AND Jansen? That team could be very scary. Interesting to see Strasburg return to San Diego, it is going to be leaked we were a close second place. I was approved to go over budget to sign him, but they beat us out by about 15 million. Yankees went smart with their signings...and those damn Rays landing Schwarber. This season is going to be tough.
