Biittner drew a four-pitch walk and that forced in the go-ahead run. Billings flew to left for the second out. Kubiak grounded to second to end the inning. In the top of the second, Mitterwald gave the Twins the lead back with a two-run homer. In the bottom of the second, Mincher tied the game with a two-out RBI single. In the top of the third, Thompson gave the Twins the lead back on a two-out RBI single. After three: Minnesota 4 Texas 3. In the bottom of the sixth, Mincher gave the Rangers the lead back with a two-out two-run double. The next batter, Howard scored Mincher with a single. With a runner on first and two out, Jim Perry took the mound for the Twins. After six: Texas 6 Minnesota 4. In the top of the eighth, with a runner on first and nobody out, Jim Panther took the mound for the Rangers. Maddox threw Carew out at home as he tried to score from second on a Darwin single. In the top of the ninth, Horacio Pina took the mound for the Rangers with a two-run lead. Pina set the Twins down in order to give the Rangers the win. Final score: Texas 6 Minnesota 4. The Rangers activated RF Jeff Burroughs from the injured list. Rumor has it the New York Mets have placed 1B Ed Kranepool on the trading block.
