Mariners Run Win Streak to Six with Another Extra Innings Triumph

J.P. Crawford gets the go-ahead RBI in extras

Minneapolis - For the second game in a row the Mariners had to go into extra frames to get a decsion, but for the sixth time in a row it was the Mariners who came out on top, as J.P. Crawford hit the go ahead double in the top of the tenth, and the Mariners held on for a 5-4 win. Jarred Kelenic, and Eugenio Suárez homered for the Mariners in this one as they had to rally after a shaky outing from Marco Gonzales. Suárez was able to tie the game up in the ninth though with a clutch RBI, setting it up for Crawford to seal the deal for Seattle. The two teams will be back in action here tomorrow with Chris Flexen (1-0, 2.25 ERA) getting the nod against Dylan Bundy (0-0, 8.44 ERA).

Flexen Roughed Up as Mariners Streak Ends

Gio Urshela hits a three run bomb to put the Twins ahead.

Minneapolis - Chris Flexen only lasted 2.2 innings as he was roughed up for six runs on eight hits as the Twins used a big third inning to jump on top of the Mariners, and end their six game win streak. Things started off well enough for Seattle when they got a three run bomb from Eugenio Suárez in the first inning, but Dylan Bundy settled in after that, and the Twins got a pair of their own jacks from Carlos Correa, and Gio Urshela that chased Chris Flexen, and gave them the lead that they would not relinquish. Seattle still has a chance to get the series win in game four tomorrow when they send rookie Matt Brash (0-0, 1.69 ERA) to the mound to face Jordan Balazovic (1-0, 3.60 ERA).

Re: Sea Us Rise: A Seattle Mariners Franchise (The Show '22)

Weekend Update

The first full week of the MLB season is in the books, and while some things are holding true to the form we thought going into the season, there are already some surprises coming out of the first ten games or so. The young Miami Marlins have raced out to the best record in baseball at 8-2. Time will tell if they have what it takes to keep the pace through the whole season, but so far they are playing inspired baseball. Meanwhile last year's out of nowhere team, the San Francisco Giants, is struggling to get things going as they're just 3-7 to start the new campaign. We will be updating you all season long right here on the comings, and goings throughout Major League Baseball.

Mariners Get Back on Track, Take Series From Twins

Minneapolis - After a tough loss yesterday, the Mariners were able to get back on track with a 3-1 over the Minnesota Twins to take three of the four games in the series. Seattle has started the first 10 games at 8-2, their best start since their record setting 2001 season where they won 116 games. The Mariners will now hit the road to take on the Chicago White Sox for three games beginning tomorrow. It will be Robbie Ray (2-0, 2.25 ERA) taking the mound against Johnny Cueto (1-1, 4.50 ERA).

Ray Sharp Again in Mariners Win

Chicago - Robbie Ray went eight innings for the Mariners in this one showing the stuff of a #1 starter that Seattle was hoping they were getting when they signed the Cy Young winner this off-season, and the Mariners improved to 9-2 with a 4-1 win over the White Sox in Chicago. Eugenio Suárez hit his team leading fourth home run of the season, while Cal Raleigh continued his hot start to the season with his third double. The Mariners will continue the series tomorrow with Logan Gilbert (0-1, 2.25 ERA) taking the mound against Lucas Giolito (1-0, 6.00 ERA).

Gilbert Outduels Giolito as Mariners get Win #10

Chicago - The Mariners once again got a dominant outing from their starting pitching. This time it was Logan Gilbert who pitched eight shut out innings, which allowed two solo home runs from J.P. Crawford, and Jesse Winker to hold up as the Mariners stretched their record to 10-2 on the season with a 2-0 win. Seattle will look to get the series sweep tomorrow when they send Marco Gonzales (1-0, 4.26 ERA) to the mound to face Michael Kopech (1-0, 1.38 ERA).

Gonzales Pounded as White Sox Salvage Final Game of Series

Jose Abreu swings on a two run home run in the third inning

Chicago - The White Sox bats finally woke up in the series finale, and the result was a bad day at the office for Seattle starter Marco Gonzales. He got brutalized to the tune of eight runs off of nine hits as the White Sox easily defeated the Mariners on Thursday afternoon 11-2. On the opposite side Michael Kopech pitched well, not allowing a hit until the fifth inning, and leaving the game without an earned run. The Mariners only run driven in was a solo homer by Kyle Lewis when the game was already well out of reach. Seattle will now return home for a nine game homestand starting tomorrow against the Houston Astros. It will be Chris Flexen (1-1, 6.75 ERA) taking the mound against Luis Garcia (1-0, 0.75 ERA).

Re: Sea Us Rise: A Seattle Mariners Franchise (The Show '22)

Flexen Hurls Shutout as Mariners Take Down Astros

Chris Flexen watches as Abraham Toro leaps to catch the final out of the ballgame.

Seattle - In the first of what should be 19 hotly contested games against the two favorites in the AL West, it was the Seattle Mariners who asserted early dominance. Chris Flexen pitched his first career complete game shutout on the mound, and the Mariners dominated at the plate for an 11-0 win. J.P. Crawford provided the big time pop for Seattle driving in six runs on the day with a double, and a home run. That was more than enough for Flexen who carved up an Astros lineup, that is still formidable despite losing some pieces the last two off-seasons. The series will continue tomorrow with Matt Brash (1-0, 1.59 ERA) taking the mound to face José Urquidy (1-0, 1.72 ERA).
