We can’t compare to Wooden’s UCLA teams, but we’ve certainly had a good run. One thing we haven’t done is win back-to-back titles, but maybe that’s something we can aim for this year.

In 16 years at WVU, we have:

4 National Titles
9 Final Fours
11 Elite Eights
13 Sweet Sixteens

It may not be Wooden numbers, but that's a little above Roy Williams at UNC. In 15 seasons at UNC, he's got:

3 National Titles
5 Final Fours
8 Elite Eights
9 Sweet Sixteens

If you do the last 16 seasons Coach K has been at Duke, he's got:

2 National Titles
3 Final Fours
5 Elite Eights
11 Sweet Sixteens

Coach Frizzell is in good company. At 592-166, that's a career record of .781. Eight more consecutive wins would move that to .783, and only Jerry Tarkanian (.784), Dave Robbins (.786 at Virginia Union), Roy Williams (.788), Ken Anderson (.806 at Wisconsin-Eau Claire), and Adolph Rupp (.822) have higher numbers with at least 600 wins.

It's 3am and I like stats, lol I got a little carried away.

Good stuff!

Too bad I am but a lowly videogamer and not a real coach, haha.

#1 West Virginia (11-0) vs. #7 Indiana (12-1)
Bloomington Assembly Hall
Bloomington, IN
December 27th, 2035

Two undefeated teams stepped onto the court this evening in Bloomington, Indiana, but only one emerged unscathed as No. 1 West Virginia (12-0) retained their top spot atop the AP Top 25 rankings with an 83-63 beatdown of No. 7 Indiana (12-1) in Bloomington.

Damond Pasco had a game for the ages as he shot 11/14 from three-point range and scored a career-high 33 points. He also added five rebounds and five assists.

"I was just feeling it," explained Pasco. "I was getting good looks and I was just seeing the ball going through the net."

Nik Buscher recorded his first career triple-double as he tallied 21 points, 10 rebounds, and 10 assists. Buscher's triple-double is the first triple-double by a player under West Virginia head coach James Frizzell.

Charles Rickert also scored 12 points and grabbed four rebounds for the Mountaineers.

West Virginia shut down Indiana in the first half and led 37-23 as both teams headed to the locker rooms. West Virginia maintained a double-digit lead throughout the second half en route to their 20-point victory.

Ben Sullivan scored 18 points and grabbed seven rebounds to lead Indiana in scoring. Preston Foust scored 14 points and dished out six assists and Issa Kabba just missed out on a double-double with 12 points and nine rebounds.

Next, West Virginia will host La Salle on New Year's Eve in their final non-conference game of the season.

vs.
Rutgers (10-2) vs. #1 West Virginia (14-0)
WVU Coliseum
Morgantown, WV
January 3rd, 2036

Felipe Delgado scored a career-high 32 points and grabbed seven rebounds, hitting 13/17 from the field, as No. 1 West Virginia (14-0, 1-0) got off to a perfect start in Big East Conference play with a 69-63 victory over the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (10-2, 0-1) this evening in Morgantown.

Nik Buscher added 12 points and 11 rebounds in just 23 minutes for West Virginia as his playing time was limited because of foul trouble.

West Virginia led by as many as 14 points in the first half and held a 39-30 lead at the halftime break, but Rutgers kept the game close throughout the second half. Rutgers only lost by one point (64-63) in a similarly-played low scoring game when these two squads played in the Championship Game of the 2K Sports College Hoops Classic earlier this season.

Konrad Rice scored 17 points to lead Rutgers in scoring. Atila Johnson tallied a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds and seven-footer Dannorriss Mulic totaled 13 points and five rebounds. Demond Torress also scored 13 points.

Next up for West Virginia is a game at rival Pittsburgh next Tuesday. The Panthers are off to a hot start this year at 8-1 and will be a tough matchup for the top-ranked Mountaineers.
