#1 West Virginia (12-1) vs. #20 Connecticut (12-2)

Hartford, CT
December 30th, 2036

No. 1 West Virginia (12-1, 1-0) kicked off their Big East Conference season this evening with a hard-fought 60-52 defensive victory over No. 20 Connecticut (12-2, 0-1) on the road.

Felipe Delgado was West Virginia's only double-digit scorer and scored a game-high 19 points to go along with five rebounds and four assists.

West Virginia led 32-20 at halftime and maintained their lead while playing superb defense throughout the second half.

West Virginia shot just 38% (21/56) from the floor, but UConn was scarcely better at 39% (22/56). The Mountaineers held a decisive advantage from three-point range, where they hit 12 threes compared to UConn's four, and also outshot the Huskies from the free throw line.

Brandyn Evtimov scored 13 points and grabbed six rebounds to lead Connecticut in scoring. Junior point guard Jaison Gross also had a nice game, totaling 10 points, five rebounds, and five assists.

Next, West Virginia will travel to Tampa, FL to take on the South Florida Bulls, who are off to a surprisingly strong 9-3 start this season.

Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)

SuperJames I have a question for you- What level did you start playing at and when did you know when it was time to move up the difficulty?

I played a whole season (every game but 3) in my Spurs MyLeague and I won the title. Not sure if its time for me to move up or not. I want it to be challenging, but I generally don't mess with sliders, so I will just pick a difficulty level and play on it. I have always just played on All-Star but over the course of 100+ games played I got markedly better and now I'm going into Year 2.

What advice do you have for me? What did you think about when deciding to move up in difficulty?

Good grief, with those shooting performances that must have been a rough 40 minutes.

Good grief, I forgot to respond to these two replies!

It's tough to gauge, and something I gradually did over time. I don't think I've touched the difficulty in a number of seasons now. I definitely had the difficulty level too easy early in the legacy, but it's something that I think I have at a good level now. I win a lot, of course, but we also have, on average, had the most talented roster in the nation over the last 5-10 years, so we should be winning a lot.

I don't really like adjusting difficulty levels mid-season unless it seems way off. I know you're already into season 2 now, though.

Your SA dynasty is good stuff, BTW! Go Spurs Go! It wasn't like you cruised to an easy title in your legacy, either. You had some hard-fought series, and the Spurs did have a good team last year (I think they could have gotten to the WCF if they beat Denver).

vs.
#1 West Virginia (13-1) vs. South Florida (10-4)
USF Sun Dome
Tampa, FL
January 3rd, 2037

Freshman guard Barry Henning scored a career-high 22 points and hit 5/8 from three-point range to lead No. 1 West Virginia (13-1, 2-0) to a gutsy 85-78 victory this evening over the South Florida Bulls (10-4, 1-1) at the USF Sun Dome in Tampa, FL.

Belton Mombollet added 13 points, five rebounds, and four four assists and Stefon Hull also scored 13 points.

The Mountaineers were uncharacteristically outrebounded by USF 32-22, but the Bulls turned the basketball over a season-worst 23 times. In contrast, West Virginia only turned the basketball over 11 times.

USF shot 51% (27/52) from the floor and 18/21 (86%) from the free throw line, but it wasn't enough to make up for their carelessness with the basketball.

Freshman guard Emerson Grkovic scored a team-high 22 points for South Florida. Senior center Erwin Stoudamire tallied a 13-point, 13-rebound double-double and fellow senior Gene Poole hit three three-pointers and scored 15 points from off the bench.

West Virginia will host Seton Hall next Wednesday.

Good grief! So many turnovers from USF, it's a miracle the game was so close.

Yeah, unfortunately for us, they shot really well and dominated us on the boards. But at least we got the W.
