Re: Coaching Legacy of James Frizzell (CH 2K8)

That is correct, Deuce. I just updated that post a week or so ago after I realized what I had posted a couple years ago was out of date.

I had the sliders set too easy back when I started this dynasty and I had success too fast, but I generally like where they’re set now. I’ve really only made minor adjustments over the last few years. It’s nice not to be slider chasing like I do in so many other sports games...

vs.
#20 Cincinnati (14-6) vs. #1 West Virginia (19-0)
WVU Coliseum
Morgantown, WV
January 26rd, 2034

Top-ranked West Virginia (19-0, 7-0) pulled away in the second half to defeat No. 20 Cincinnati 90-70 this evening in Morgantown.

The Bearcats (14-6, 5-3) jumped out to a 19-8 lead early on and led the Mountaineers for most of the first half before WVU took their first lead of the game in the closing minutes of the half. Cincinnati grabbed the lead back after halftime and both teams traded leads for much of the second half before the Mountaineers went on an extended run midway through the half to take a double-digit lead, a lead they never relinquished the rest of the way as they ended up winning by 20 points.

"It was one of those patented runs we've seen from them a lot this year," explained Cincinnati head coach Joe Jones. "They finally started hitting their threes and there's nothing we could do as they took a close game and turned it into a blowout just like that."

Myron DeLeon scored 16 points and added four assists to lead the Mountaineers in scoring. His four threes were instrumental to West Virginia's run to blow open the game. Skip Bradford added 14 points and seven rebounds and Dedrick Packevicius scored 10 points. Ije Przybyszewski only came one rebound and two assists short of a triple-double as he totaled 10 points, nine rebounds, eight assists, and five steals. Shannon Edwards came off the bench to scored 11 points and grab five boards.

Senior forward Jerrod Buckman came off the bench to scored 19 points and grab nine rebounds to lead the Bearcats in both categories. Gregory Carlson and Torris Winklfield scored 12 and 11 points, respectively.

The Mountaineers outrebounded Cincinnati 43-29 and shot an impressive 14/30 (47%) from beyond the arc.

Next, West Virginia has one day off before hosting Notre Dame on Saturday.

Yeah, we live and die by the three, which is kind of concerning considering if we have an off game we could be in trouble.

vs.
Notre Dame (12-8) vs. #1 West Virginia (20-0)
WVU Coliseum
Morgantown, WV
January 28th, 2034

No. 1 West Virginia (20-8, 8-0) won their 20th game of the year this afternoon in Morgantown, WV with an 82-56 victory over visiting Notre Dame (12-8, 4-5). The Fighting Irish actually led 29-27 at halftime, but after shooting just 24% in the first half, the Mountaineers erupted for 55 points in the second half to outscore Notre Dame 55-27 the rest of the way to win by 26 points.

Nik Buscher nearly single-handily kept West Virginia in the game in the first half with 17 of his career-high 32 points. He also added 13 rebounds and three steals. Buscher was the the only West Virginia player to score or rebound in double-figures. He shot 9/13 from the field and 14/17 from the free throw line as he put on the best performance of his career on a night WVU had trouble hitting the broad side of a barn.

"Nik [Buscher] was fantastic," said West Virginia head coach James Frizzell after the game. "He's played some great ball this year, but today was on another level, and we really needed it since our outside shots weren't falling in for most of the game. I have no doubt he's going to be a great one at the next level."

After a much better shooting second half, West Virginia ended the game shooting 43% (28/65) from the field, but just 25% (8/32) from three-point range. The Mountaineers also won the turnover battle 13-7.

Atila Gates scored 11 points to lead Notre Dame in scoring and Dwayne Carbaugh added 10 points.

Next, West Virginia will travel to Milwaukee to face Marquette next Wednesday.
