They won by 40, there was plenty of "garbage time" haha. I actually played my back-ups most of the 2nd half so I didn't lose anyone else of importance to injury. It's going to be really, really ugly against UCLA.

UCLA Wins, Moves On to CBE Championship Game
”Bruins defeat depleted North Florida squad."
Friday November 23rd, 2007

Code:
                 1st 2nd Total
#3 UCLA 45 28 73
North Florida 26 29 55
I don’t think anyone will argue that North Florida played the #3 team in the country extremely well for not having their two big scorers available. Had they shot better than 31% from the floor this could have easily been a very good game. Despite losing, Coach Matthews continued to be optimistic about his team after the game.

“What did I tell you guys after the last game? Both Tom Brady and Randy Moss were injured and couldn’t play today, and we still kept it to less than a 20 point win. Add the 26 points the two of them average combined and we win the game today. This was a good learning experience for our bench, and assuming we have no more injuries this year we expect to win at least 18 games. I also am going to have a word with Chris. He’s almost too unselfish out there. He is a guy that could score 20 pts a game if he tried. I’m going to ask him to take more shots the next game and see what happens.”

North Florida Ospreys Player Stats
Brent Wood – 7 pts, 3 reb, 1 stl
Stan Januska – 20 pts, 4 reb, 4 ast, 3 stl
Chris Timberlake – 8 pts, 5 ast, 1 reb, 1 stl
Devon Jones – 7 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast

UCLA Bruins Player Stats
Kevin Love – 22 pts, 8 reb, 4 ast, 2 stl, 3 blk
Josh Shipp – 9 pts, 3 reb, 2 stl
Michael Roll – 11 pts, 5 reb

Record: 2-2
Up Next: consolation game vs. #9 Michigan St.

*Man talk about a tough string of games. Florida, UCLA, AND Michigan St!? I think I could been competitive had I had my two best players, but of course I don't so I get blown out in all of them. Thanks for following.

Spartans Beat North Florida With Ease
”Improve to 3-1, rebound after loss to Missouri."
Saturday November 24th, 2007

Code:
                 1st 2nd Total
North Florida 28 17 45
#9 Michigan St. 38 47 85
“We couldn’t score, plain and simple. We also couldn’t rebound, or hold onto the ball. Hell we couldn’t do anything right tonight. Someone has to step up when your best players are out with injuries, and no one did tonight. Good thing we have a stretch of easier games coming up, because we need to rebound and improve before we have to play Miami and Notre Dame," said a disappointed Coach Matthews after today's loss.

North Florida Ospreys Player Stats
Brent Wood – 7 pts, 2 ast (2-12 FG)
Stan Januska – 12 pts, 3 reb, 2 ast
Chris Timberlake – 5 pts, 4 ast, 1 reb, 4 TO
Justin Cecil – 7 pts, 6 reb, 1 blk (fouled out early in 2nd half)

Michigan St. Spartans Player Stats
Drew Neitzel – 21 pts, 1 reb
Marquise Gray – 14 pts, 9 reb, 4 stl
Chris Allen – 12 pts, 1 reb

Record: 2-3

Ospreys Win An Ugly Game
”Tigers only score 9 points in the first half."
Tuesday November 27th, 2007

Code:
                 1st 2nd Total
North Florida 29 28 57
Savannah St. 9 33 42
In what is easily the least entertaining game of the year for North Florida, they managed to hold the Tigers to just 9 points in the first half. Savannah St. scored only 2 points in the first 14 minutes of the game. Justin Cecil carried the Ospreys big as no one else could catch fire.

“A win is a win. We are now on a winning streak, and that’s where we want to be. Let’s hope this one doesn’t end,” Coach Matthews said at the news conference.

North Florida Ospreys Player Stats
Justin Cecil – 24 pts, 8 reb, 2 ast, 2 blk
Stan Januska – 10 pts, 4 reb, 1 ast, 2 stl (3-12 FG)
Tom Hammonds – 9 pts, 7 reb, 1 ast, 2 stl

Savannah State Tigers Player Stats
Lazarius Coleman – 16 pts, 9 reb, 1 blk
Joseph Flegler – 5 pts, 2 reb, 2 to, (1-12 fg)
Rod Mitchell – 4 pts, 2 reb, (1-11 FG)

Record: 3-3

Re: Coaching Career of Chris Matthews (CH2k8)

Home Sweet….Wait a Minute
”Tribe spoils North Florida’s home opener."

Code:
                 1st 2nd Total
William & Mary 36 39 75
North Florida 29 38 67
North Florida finally got both of their scorers back in the line-up, but that wasn’t enough for them to beat what previously was a winless William & Mary team. The Tribe came in at 0-5, but was leading almost the entire game against a team that knocked off both Maryland and Tulsa already this year.

“First off before I get all negative you have to give Stan Januska credit. The man has really improved the last few games and has given us another scoring option. Chris also had a great game tonight. Both Hammonds and Grimball however, looked a little off. Neither one of them looked very comfortable out there and it showed. Both of them shot really poorly, and was probably the difference in this game. I’m going to have another talk with both of them and hopefully get their confidence back up so that they can play at the level I know that they are capable of,” said a disappointed Coach Matthews.

North Florida Ospreys Player Stats
Chris Timberlake – 11 pts, 7 ast (0 to), 3 stl, 1 reb
Stan Januska – 23 pts, 4 reb, 3 stl, 1 blk
Tom Hammonds – 10 pts, 4 reb, (4-15 FG)

William & Mary Tribe Player Stats
Nathan Mann – 16 pts, 5 ast, 3 reb
Danny Sumner – 11 pts, 13 reb
Marcus Kitts – 10 pts, 7 reb, 2 ast (off of bench)

Record: 3-4

North Florida Dominate The Paint
”Grimball and Cecil combine for 49 in win for Ospreys."
Saturday December 15, 2007

Code:
                 1st 2nd Total
North Florida 56 45 101
Florida A&M 41 43 84
It was what looked to be a blow out in Florida A&M’s favor early, as they lead 20-4 just 7 minutes into the game. A remarkable comeback occurred, while it was still early, and a 30 point swing during the next 13 minutes allowed North Florida to end the half with a 15 point lead of their own. While the Rattlers did manage a run to bring the lead back within just 3 during the 2nd half, the Ospreys answered with one of their own and closed the door quickly.

Coach Matthews commented after the game,” Well what can I say, we started this game horribly. I had to basically throw my clipboard on the bench and completely think over a new game plan. The plan was obviously to attack the basket like no other. It worked, too. This is why we missed Mr. Grimball those 4 games, he is one of the best players I’ve seen in a long time.”

On the future of the program,” Let’s see, we’re losing both Grimball and Timberlake after this year which is going to hurt us a lot. BUT we had two freshman score 22 points and 17 points respectively, so I wouldn’t get too worried yet.”

North Florida Ospreys Player Stats
Chris Timberlake – 6 pts, 16 ast (only 1 TO), 1 stl, 1 blk
James Grimball – 27 pts, 12 reb, 3 ast
Justin Cecil – 22 pts, 7 reb, 2 ast
Brent Wood – 17 pts, 4 reb, 4 stl (21 minutes off of bench)

Florida A&M Rattlers Player Stats
Leslie Robinson – 27 pts, 4 reb, 3 ast
Oliver Prince – 10 pts, 11 reb, 3 ast, 3 stl
Akini Adkins – 9 pts, 9 reb

Record: 4-4
