Re: Coaching Career of Kevin Rogers (Part II)

November 9, 2007 Liberty 63 San Diego St. 58

Seth Curry shocks the world, as debut leads to upset.

The Liberty Flames rally from being down 16 in the second half, to hold on the biggest upsets in this early year. Seth Curry scored 31 points including 2 big 3s in the last 2 minutes to ice the game for the Flames. Curry scored 23 points in the 2nd half and pretty much took over. But the main reason for the upset would be in part to the half time adjustments made by Coach Rogers.

I just wanted to get more defensive pressure on the Aztecs main players. They had way to many free looks at the basket early on and I just needed to quit giving all that up.

Liberty Leading Performers
Points:
Seth Curry 31
Rebounds: Ozren Bjeldgrilic 7
Assists: 3 Tied at 2

San Diego State Leading Performers
Points:
Kelvin Davis 17
Rebounds: 2 Tied at 8
Assists: Kelvin Davis 5

Re: Coaching Career of Kevin Rogers (Part II)

November 10, 2007 Liberty 52 Fresno State 75

Bulldogs Hot Shooting Too Much For Flames to Handle.

Liberty fell behind by to much early in the first half thanks in large part to Fresno State shooting 60% in the first half. Seth Curry was shut down for the most part, so it was a real struggle for the Flames to get anything going. A balanced attack by Fresno State was an important key to this big blowout win. 4 different people had 10 points.

Liberty Leading Performers
Points:
Seth Curry 17
Rebounds: 2 Tied with 5
Assists: Seth Curry 3

Fresno State Leading Performers
Points:
Dwight O'Neil 20
Rebounds: 3 Tied with 6
Assists: Kevin Bell 9

November 11, 2007 Liberty 56 Portland 38

Big Second Half Sparks Flames Past Portland.

The game was tied at 18 at halftime in a very ugly first half. But the Flames really got the ball rolling as Seth Curry and company began to play really good defense and make their shots to pull away from the Portland Pilots. Seth is really starting to become more of a contributor and not just a scorer, which will be good when the shots don't fall.

Liberty Leading Performers
Points:
Seth Curry 18
Rebounds: Ozren Bjeldgrilic 7
Assists: Seth Curry 6

Portland Leading Performers
Points:
Nik Raivio 13
Rebounds: Luke Sikma 12
Assists: Taishi Ito 3

Bruins escape but Curry shines in final of tourney.

In a game that was dominated early by the freshman out of Charlotte, the Bruins managed to hit the big shots late to escape the grasp of the Flames. Seth Curry led all scorers with 33 points, but could not get the final 2 needed to push the Flames past the Bruins. Anthony Smith had a chance to win the game at the buzzer but his shot went in and out and the Flames fell to the Bruins in heartbreaking fashion.

November 17, 2007: Liberty 65 East Carolina 54

Anderson Provides Big Lift off Bench for Liberty.

Coming off a disappointing loss to UCLA earlier in that week, Liberty returned to their neck of the woods by traveling to Greenville, North Carolina to take on the East Carolina Pirates. Seth Curry had another high scoring night, but the true star was Jeremy Anderson who came off the bench and hit some big 3s to push the Flames past the Pirates.

Leading Performers:
Points:
Liberty, Seth Curry 24
Rebounds: East Carolina, DaQuan Joyner, 6
Assists: East Carolina, Brock Young 7

November 21, 2007 Liberty 79 Kentucky 76

UPSET CITY BABY: Liberty Shocks UK in Rupp Arena

Their is something special about that young freshman out of Charlotte Christian High School. Seth Curry, who came so close to upsetting UCLA, managed to pull off a major upset in the likes of Kentucky. But he was not alone, Anthony Smith provided a nice 24 points to go along with Seth Curry's 31. Anthony Smith had the go ahead layup with 33.1 seconds but Kentucky did have their chance. But a missed jumper and a missed putback later sealed the deal for the Flames.
