The Ballad Of Adam DeLana (NCAA 10)

Let me start by saying that there will not a ton of time invested it the write-ups, and there will be no HTML (unless somebody wants to make one for me). I'm going to keep it short and to the point, player's key stats (which will be messy due to the lack of HTML.)

**I know the scores are low. It bugs me too**
----------------------------------------------------------------------------
Adam DeLana was a Catholic High PG who took a scholarship to LSU. Turns out, he wrecked his knee badly, and it snowballed. LSU lost interest, Southeastern lost interest, even Tulane and ULM/L turned him down. So he ended going to McNeese, where he wrecked it even worse his freshman year. Fast forward 8 years, he's proved himself a decent Assistant coach, and he gets handed the keys when Simmons steps down.

Re: The Ballad Of Adam DeLana (NCAA 10)

Cowboys kick in clutch, edge Privateers
McNeese-52; UNO 49

Defense was scarce for the Cowboys, who relied on timely shots to keep the Privateers from pulling away. "We certainly weren't lucky, but it could have been worse." Said McNeese first timer head coach Adam DeLana post game. "We kept hitting....opportune....shots. After Collins got that 4-point play with about 3 minutes to go in the last half, they couldn't hit shots and we maximized."

McNeese was down 10 with 4:05 left in the 2nd when substitutions were made. After that, it was a shootout with both teams answering points for points. 3's were traded with 2's and vice versa for both teams. The Cowboys were slowly dwindling the Privateers lead. McNeese was able to get a layup with 7.1 left before half to narrow it down to just a 1 point lead. On the first play on the 2nd half, a Neal layup was blocked and returned for a quick 2, and the duel was on again, only to have McNeese swipe the lead away from UNO with 2:40 left with a Martin 4 point play.

Quotable: "I'm pretty damn excited that it's my 1st win, but we have a ton of work to do. There is no way we can hang with the big boys if we can't stop the dribble drive."-Adam DeLana, McN Head Coach

By the Numbers...
Martin-11 Pts., 3/3 Three, 1 BLK. 4 point play to put McNeese ahead.
Collins-10 Pts., 2/5 Three, 1 Steal.
Neal-10 Pts., 5/8, 2 OREB, 5 DREB,4 Assist.
Alawoya-9 Pts., 4/8, 1/1 Three, 4 DREB

Re: The Ballad Of Adam DeLana (NCAA 10)

OH The Iron Kind
McNeese wins on desperation three.

CJ Collins did it again. With 4 seconds remaining, he watched his fadaway three bounce off the back of the iron and into the nets. In a nationally televised early-season ESPN2 matchup, McNeese (2-0) didn't exactly shock the world, but they did shock the Thomas Assembly Center. This time, McNeese seized the lead early in the first and fought to hold that ground. They stood there, taking everything Louisiana Tech could give.

"I'm really proud of our guys, especially CJ (Collins). They had a lot to proved on a TV audience, and they did just that. A lot of practice and hard work went into this week, and i'm glad to see that it paid off against a more talented Bulldog team." Commented McNeese head coach Adam DeLana.

With 2 minutes left to play, the Cowboys had a 9 point lead. Louisiana Tech chipped away at that lead for 116 seconds, climaxing with a Johnson layup to tie it up at 48. The inbounds went to Martin at halfcourt with 8 seconds left. Martin then passed it to the low post where Collins took a dribble drive, pulled back, and watched his fadeway three drop with 4 seconds left.

By the Numbers....
Collins-10 Pts, 1/1 3P, 5DReb. Go ahead 3 with :04 left
Neal-8 Pts, 2 DReb, 3 BLK.
Alawoya-14 Pts, 7/10, 1/1 3P, 3Dreb.
Martin-7 Pts.

Re: The Ballad Of Adam DeLana (NCAA 10)

Bombs Away
3-0 McNeese Drops Arizona, 65-56.

There was a loud and vibrant student section for the "Biggest home game of the year" as boasted by head coach Adam DeLana. It was televised on CST and local sports stations. And the Cowboys showed up just like the students and cameras. McNeese climbed to a 10 point lead 3 minutes into the 1st, sputtered close to Halftime, rebuilt it, and never looked back.

"Huge." Said Cowboys coach DeLana. "This was huge for RPI. We need everthing we can get."

By the Numbers...
Collins-13 Pts, 4/7, 4/4 FT, 3 DReb, 2 BLK
Alawoya-12 Pts, 6/7, 3 DReb
Kaplean-10 Pts
Neal-10 Pts, 2/2 3P, 6 DReb. 4 Point play.
