Another Loss??
NIU sends Trojans Packing

Little Rock, AR (AP): Another close game ends in disappointment for the Trojans. It seemed they had this game in their control after going into halftime with a 42-41 lead, but their 2nd half shooting cost them the game. NIU will walk out with the victory 92-80.

"Tonight I thought was better than the Wright State game, for the most part. Our shooting has to improve in the 2nd half, we cannot get lazy and think we can get the easy layups, because we was missing those also. If we make these mistakes Wednesday when we play Memphis, we're going to be used as mops to clean their court."

UALR will travel to Memphis, TN to take on #18 Memphis Tigers. Will Coach Seward and his Trojans be able to take the Tigers? Or will the Tigers have Trojans for lunch???

Big Mistake!
Foul Costs Memphis Game!

Memphis, TN (AP): Coach Calipari was yelling at his players not to foul when the game was tied 95-95 with 9 seconds left. Fowler was driving it down the court and went for a two, a whistle was blown and the shot was missed. Calipari looked in on in disappointment as Taggart fouled Fowler with 3.1 seconds left.

Fowler stepped to the line and these next two shots would be the biggest of his life. He missed the first one sending the Memphis crowd in a roar. Fowler drained the second one immediately silencing the crowd as they drew the lead 96-95. Memphis inbounded the ball, UALR had so much pressure that the buzzer went off before the shot could get out of Sallie's hands. UALR upsets and stuns Memphis 96-95. Coach Seward was almost in tears during his news conference.

"I know I said I wouldn't worry about a win, but this one got me. When we played Wright State and fought so hard to get back in it just to come close hurt. This one though, makes me proud of those kids who comes out on the court everyday and practices. When you're down 44-33 at halftime, there's not much you can really say to your kids except tell them to keep fighting. Thats what they did and we got the victory for it.

Fowler did an excellent job under pressure with the free throws. I was preparing my bench for overtime but I heard a whistle and glanced over and saw that Fowler drew the shooting foul. When the second one went in, I could feel tears coming in. Our defense did well to prevent Memphis from getting a shot off at the buzzer."

Coach Seward's record improves to 8-2 (0-0). They open up Sun Belt play against the Red Wolves of Arkansas State on December 20th. This will be their last game for a whole week, then they will resume play against Rice on the 28th.

Back In Rhythm!
UALR Dominates Sun Belt Opener

Little Rock, AR (AP): What better way to start out conference play than to start it at your own court. Even though it was a 2 hour drive for Arkansas State, they marched into Little Rock and left a loser. UALR shut the door on the Red Wolves 82-67 for their first Conference win of the season.

"We knew we had this game at home and we prepared for it after the Memphis game. We had already watched film on them and was ready for their special wolfpack offense. This should boost the team's confidence even further, and hope to carry it throughout the dead week. Can't wait to celebrate Christmas with my family back in Prairie Grove, and I hope the players have a good one also.

No Gifts for Rice

Little Rock, AR (AP): Even though it wasn't a conference game, this game meant alot to the Trojans. They had to prove to Coach Seward that they didn't slack off during the dead week and forgot everything they learned. They came out shooting and gave a great showing to the fans. They went into the locker room with a 41-39 halftime lead.

2nd Half was a little troubling for the Trojans as they gave up the lead to Rice, forcing themselves to fight harder to stay ahead. When they took the lead 80-77 it would be the final score as UALR's defense was too good for Rice to get a shot off in the 18 seconds they had to use.

"Today's game proved that the kids know what passion is about. Even though they had one whole week off for Christmas and didn't practice until this past Friday, they showed me that they have the will to win games. Tonight was an excellent performance and I hope we keep it up all season.

The UALR Trojans improve their record to 10-2 (1-0). They will play UL-Monroe on December 31st to end the year!!!
