Looks like the move to SF payed off for Armstrong. Does he have a decent 3pt shot??

He is still starting at PF, but seeing time at SF. He does not have much of a 3pt shot, his mid range jumper is OK though. He's a tweener, hopefully he adds some muscle - if he does he'll be a force in the OVC.

They have a solid team despite their record, it will be tough to get a win...I'll be happy with a morale victory.

Panthers hang tough but fall apart in final minutes

Boston, MA - The Panthers nearly pulled off their second big upset on the road in as many weeks but fell apart in the final two minutes. EIU trailed 62-59 with 2:00 to play when Romain Martin fouled super freshman Taron Callahan, Callahan hit the three and converted the free throw for the four point play and the Eagles never looked back.

Callahan was one of the nation's top recruits last season, he was ranked #8 nationally. The Panthers big time recruit, Dave Armstrong, had his best night of the season with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the losing effort.

EIU starts conference play later this week as they host Austin Peay (4-2, 0-0). AP is led by OVC Player of the Year candidate Drake Reed, Reed is averaging 26.7 ppg and 7.5 rpg on the season.

Panthers shoot lights out, dominate Austin Peay

Charleston, IL - The Panthers rebounded nicely from the disappointing loss to Boston College by dominating Austin Peay while shooting 54% from the field, en route to a 83-70 win. It wasn't even that close, the Panthers led by 20 most of the 2nd half.

EIU's defense frustrated Drake Reed, he shot just 4 of 14 from the field for 8 points. While the Panthers shot a season best 12 of 19 from three point range with Romain Martin going 5/8 and Mike Robinson going 4/8.

Up next the Panthers head to Tennessee State (3-3, 0-0) for another conference game.

Re: Mike Lewis Coaching Legacy

National Signing Day

Panthers lose Troutman

High school senior point guard Gilbert Troutman has committed to Morehead State. Troutman looked like a lock for Eastern Illinois but coach Donnie Tyndall came in late and swooped him away. This is a big blow for this year's recruiting class.

Reports are that the Panthers will now be focusing in on 5'10" point guard from Wilmington, DE named Sid Bey. Bey is Mr. Basketball in Delaware, he is ranked #222 overall. Bey has no offers at the moment, but is getting interest from Delaware, Rider, Lehigh, American, and Howard.

The Panthers are also looking heavily at Reyshawn Callans, a 6'1" 170 lb point guard from Naperville, IL. Callans is ranked #376 nationally, he has no offers but is receiving interest from Western Michigan, Notre Dame, DePaul, Miami (OH), Purdue, and others.
