12/10 L.A. Lakers
This is the Lakers and the Bulls second meeting of the season. The first one resulted in a win for the Bulls in a very high scoring game. The mismatch last time was Rose and Fischer in favor of the Bulls. On the other side the mismatch was Bryant and Korver in favor of the Lakers. Expect to see some changes from the Bulls just for this game. Should be a high scoring thriller.
12/28 Milwaukee Bucks
This will be the first time these two teams meet in what should be a Central division throw down. These two teams have had hype around them, after the departure of LeBron James, with who will take over that number one spot in the Central division. With the Bucks only 3.5 games back in the division, this should make for a very interesting game.
I lied. Updates coming tomorrow. I have played up to the Bucks though so tomorrow will have quite a few updates. A trade has occurred as well for the Bulls.
Lakers Hold off Bulls Late Game Rally By: John Weemus
We saw tonight the potential that young star Derrick Rose contains. Before I even begin talking about this game I must mention how unstoppable he was tonight. He piled on 51 points with 15 assists to add to that stat line. What a beast! Unfortunately, his team still lost despite the beastly effort by Rose. The only question the world is most likely wondering is how!?
The answer is simple. Bulls turned the ball over way too many times in the first half. All but two of their turnovers came in the first half. For those who excel at addition and subtraction that is 14 turnovers in the first half alone. The Bulls kept the game close even though it seemed as if this game was out of reach the whole time.
The first quarter was dominated by the Lakers offense particularly Kobe Bryant. Coach Thibs made an adjustment to start Ronnie Brewer in hopes of containing Bryant early but his efforts were futile. Bryant scored at will. If his team needed a bucket to go ahead he got the ball and drained a basket. I could only imagine Bryant after scoring at will saying to Brewer "this is child's play." He was unstoppable however, Derrick Rose combated Bryant's dominant performance with one of his own in the first. He put up 11 points in the first quarter keeping his team in the game. He sunk a buzzer beating three pointer to keep the Bulls within 6.
The second quarter was a somewhat different story. The score will tell you one story on how that quarter went but it honestly felt like the Lakers dominated that quarter as well. Despite the Bulls outscoring the Lakers by 4 it seemed as if the Bulls were getting lucky and the Lakers had control of the game. The Bulls also hit a tragedy in the second quarter and perhaps that is why it seemed as if the second quarter was so bad. Carlos Boozer just started getting into a groove hitting two jump shots in a row. His second jump shot proved to be fatal. He landed awkwardly on his feet and sprained it. He sat out the remainder of the game and is not expected to play for 1-2 weeks.
The third quarter was the same story as the first two. The difference between this quarter and the second is this one tells the story through the score board. The Bulls fell on 21 points while the Lakers dominated the quarter adding 25. Bryant sat the majority of this quarter and the Bulls capitalized on it making a big run in the quarter. The charge to keep things close was lead by none other than Rose!
The fourth quarter is the time when the Bulls finally woke up. They woke up about 4 minutes into the quarter though. They were down by 14 points and Rose scored time after time. Honestly, I do not remember a significant play that did not involve Rose scoring a bucket. His jump shot was perfect tonight. The charge lead by Rose fell short however. It was no surprise that the Bulls fell short considering the complete dominance by the Lakers throughout the game. The Bulls have some serious issues with the two spot. They can start Korver but get destroyed in the defense department, or they can start Brewer or Allen and not have an efficient scorer. Tough decision unless they decide to make some moves.

Bulls Make Trade to Address Weaknesses
Coverage By: John Weemus
The Bulls have reportedly been toying around with a few offers from teams around the league to address a major weakness, their 2 spot. They have toyed around with deals from the Nuggets and Lakers to name a few teams. It seems they have finalized on a deal that may be an answer to one problem but may bring up another glaring weakness.
Bulls Trade:
Taj Gibson
2nd Round 2012 Pick
Spurs Trade:
George Hill
This came as a little bit of a shocker to some. Taj Gibson will be filling in for Carlos Boozer while he recovers from his injury. I was able to speak with the Bulls GM about this recent turn of events. This is what he had to say.
Quote:
"We felt it was in the best interest of the team to bring in a shooting guard who we felt will help us fill in that giant hole we have the 2 guard spot. We went through all of the possibilities and this seemed like the right move."
Perhaps it was the best move but perhaps they could have picked better timing. I consider the Bulls dead meat down low with another gaping hole in the Bulls starting line up. The Bulls tried to at least mend some of the damage done from this trade by acquiring Jeff Pendergraph out of free agency.
Jeff Pendergraph
He is a young guy who they are going to insert in the starting position for now. Maybe Johnson will have second thoughts about that though since both have not proven themselves in this league. To sum up the day after the loss to the Lakers would be "risky". We will see what kind of GM the Bulls have, a genius or an idiot. Only time will tell.
