Boston Celtics: One more chance (NBA 2K11)

    BOSTON CELTICS

"The Boston Celtics are a National Basketball Association (NBA) team based in Boston,Massachusetts. They play in the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. Founded in 1946, the team is currently owned by Boston Basketball Partners LLC. The Celtics play their home games at the TD Garden, which they share with the Boston Blazers (NLL), and the Boston Bruinsof the NHL. The Celtics' 17 NBA Championships are the most for any NBA franchise, with theLos Angeles Lakers following closely behind with 16. From 1957 to 1969, the Celtics dominated the league winning 11 championships in 13 years, and eight in a row (1959–1966), the longest consecutive championship streak of any North American pro sports team.
The Celtics have dominated the league during the late 50’s and through the mid 80’s, with the help of many Hall of Famers which include Bill Russell, Bob Cousy, John Havlicek, Larry Birdand legendary Celtics coach Red Auerbach, combined for a 795–397 record that helped the Celtics win 16 Championships. During that span the Celtics met the Lakers 12 times in the Finals during the mid 1950's and 80's with the Celtics winning nine and Lakers winning three. Before the retirement of the “Big 3” (Larry Bird, Robert Parish and Kevin McHale), and thanks to some creative maneuvering by Auerbach, the Celtics had drafted second overall pick Len Biasbut the team fell into decline as the college star died the day after he was drafted. Later, the team suffered another tragedy when their star player Reggie Lewis died of a heart attack in his prime.
The franchise returned to prominence during the 2007–2008 season when Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen joined Paul Pierce and the new "Big Three" led the team to its 17th championship. Four Celtics (Bob Cousy, Bill Russell, Dave Cowens and Larry Bird) have won the NBA Most Valuable Player Award for an NBA record total of 10 MVP awards."

    1st game:

    BOSTON CELTICS: 70
    PHILADELPHIA 76ERS: 59

*1st game was played with 5 minutes only.

The first game of the season was a solid game for the Celtics, who didn't disappoint with a convincing victory. The first quarter showed rust from the Celtics, who were trying to get some chemistry with their notable acquissitions from the free agency who were the 2 O'Neals, Shaq and Jermaine. While the Celtics where starting slow, the Sixers where playing solid, disciplined basketball, mainly because of Doug Collins. Collins, a veteran coach, is most known by coaching most of Jordan's late 80's and early 2000's. The first quarter ended in a tie, 16-16. The second and third quarter though, Ray Allen got hot and made 5 three pointers in the 2 quarter strech, helping the Celtics get those quarters with a total of 40-30. The 4th quarter mostly consisted of Rondo giving an amazing amount of assists to the rest of the starters with 15 overall. They scored enough that quarter to hold on to an 11 point victory.

    STATS:

Rajon Rondo: 5 points, 15 assists, 6 steals
Ray Allen: 21 points, 2 steals
    Paul Pierce: 15 points
Kevin Garnett: 12 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block, 3 steals
    Shaquille O'Neal: 12 points, 7 rebounds, 3 blocks, 2 steals

BTW this is my first post. Lurked this site for a while before posting this.

Re: Boston Celtics: One more chance (NBA 2K11)

    2nd game:

    BOSTON CELTICS: 117
    NEW YORK KNICKS: 114

The game could be in contention for the top twenty games of the year, although Doc Rivers wouldn't be happy about it. If you will look at the stat sheet, you might see impressive stats from the starters, but the bench players was not reliable for most of the game, and Paul Pierce was woeful with only 5 - 15 from the field. Even though, they held a solid lead from the first to the third quarter. The fourth quarter came and Doc put in his 2nd unit and lost the 13 point lead by 5 minutes. He quickly put in his starters, and Ray Allen and Danilo Gallinari had an amazing shootout, answering each others threes. At the end though, the Celtics converted clutch freethrows to win by 3.

    STATS:

Rajon Rondo: 12 points, 16 assists, 6 steals
Ray Allen: 31 points, 6 rebounds, 2 steals
Paul Pierce: 14 points, 3 rebounds
Kevin Garnett: 30 points, 7 rebounds, 2 steals, 1 block
    Shaquille O'Neal: 19 points, 5 rebounds, 2 blocks

    Jordan Player of the Game:

    Ray Allen

      3rd Game:

      BOSTON CELTICS: 97
      PORTLAND TRAILBLAZERS: 90

This game was another solid win for the celtics and they had a great game overall. The reserves wasn't much of a help again, but the starters put up consistent numbers to help them win this. The first quarter was a Celtic show, with them leading by 7. The 2nd and 3rd quarter though were tired efforts from the Celtics and the Blazers' bench making up for lost time to make the game close, but the Celtics managed to have a great 4th quarter to win it.

Doc Rivers: "I'm not really satisfied by the way the bench has been playing so far. These guys aren't the same from last season. I know they can do better."

Shaq: "Good Lord, I'm so tired man. I'm playing more minutes than I want! These guys are queers man!"

      STATS:

Rajon Rondo: 9 points, 14 assists, 5 steals
Ray Allen: 22 points, 5 assists, 4 steals
Paul Pierce: 22 points, 3 steals, 2 blocks
Kevin Garnett: 19 points, 8 rebounds, 2 blocks
      Shaquille O'Neal: 15 points, 6 rebounds, 3 blocks

      Jordan Player of the Game:

          4th Game:

          BOSTON CELTICS: 20 27 25 34 = 106
          CHARLOTTE BOBCATS: 14 21 22 24 = 81

          "SHAQADILLA NIGHT"

The crowd got free quesadillas tonight. The main reason was Shaq and the bench.

Yesterday, the Celtics made noise by having traded half of their bench players for more talent. They got rid of K. Perkins, G. Davis, and Delonte West to different teams for E. Dampier, S. Marion, and I. Mahinimi. Danny Ainge was quoted that: " The guys we traded weren't helping our team, but it was a tough decision. I wish them luck."

The game showed payoff for those trade, atleast it looked like. Shawn Marion, Nate Robinson, Jermaine O'Neal, Von Wafer, Erick Dampier, and Semih Erden played so good, that the team won by 25 and the 2nd unit and the starters each had 50 percent of the minutes. But Shaquille was a star tonight. He had a 2000-2002 flashback with an amazing 30 points, 9 rebounds, and 5 blocks. Shaq said: " It was like breakfast, lunch, and dinner out there tonight. "

          And it certainly was.

          STATS:

Rajon Rondo: 2 pts, 7 assists
Ray Allen: 8 pts, 2 steals
Paul Pierce: 8 pts, 2 blks
Kevin Garnett: 4 pts, 3 reb, 1 blk
Shaquille O'Neal: 30 pts, 9 reb, 5 blks, 3 steals JORDAN PLAYER OF THE GAME
Shawn Marion: 18 pts, 2 blks
Nate Robinson: 10 pts, 8 assists, 3 steals
          Jermaine O'Neal: 10 pts, 1 blk
Von Wafer: 8 pts, 1 blk
Erick Dampier: 4 pts, 4 reb, 4 blk, 2 steals
          Semih Erden : 2 pts, 4 reb, 2 blk

Can I get any comments? Maybe on how to improve?

Really nice job on the report. How are you going to find time to consistently give Marion minutes?

He fills the spot of Glen Davis, I'm guessing? Big Baby averages like 20+ minutes a game I believe.

Thanks. He's gonna run around 20-25 minutes of the bench. It's gonna be hard though to give 20 plus minutes to three guys (Nate, Shawn, and Jermaine). I might bump up the minutes to 12 though.

"STARTERS DOMINATE THE THIRD QUARTER, CONTINUES 5 GAME WINNING STREAK"

The game was like a flashback of 2008.

Pierce had 19, Garnett also had 19, and Allen had 15 (5 three pointers) to overpower the Washington Wizards. The bench also had another solid effort, as the team had a 12 point win.

The first two quarters of the game were close, as the Celtics had the solid first quarter lead. But when the bench came in, they squandered a 6 point lead, and trailed by 2 at half-time.

But at the third quarter, the bench stepped up and got the lead back. And when the starters came back, they played great team basketball.

"We were just playing team basketball." said Kevin Garnett. "Rajon and Nate got me some good passes inside. Even Paul joined a few. "

Doc Rivers said: "This one was a solid effort from the team, no let downs."

Rashard Lewis expressed his dissapointment. "It's hard to face this team, especially when you come from a team before that can compete with elite teams like Boston."

                    STATS:

Rajon Rondo: 4 pts, 10 ast, 3 stl

                          Pre Game meeting:

                          D. Rivers: Ok guys. We know this team. Although we don't have a significant rivalry with this team, both of our teams have solid conference records, so we need to win this one to prove ourselves to other good teams.
So the first thing were gonna run is set plays. Don't get greedy out there or I'm gonna have to take you out of the game. They are a disciplined team, and we also need to be disciplined since they're gonna take advantage of us if we make mistakes.
We're just gonna run man to man, and let's just run plays at the offensive end. I'll just signal you when to pressure. Rajon, make some smart plays out there. Start on the inside on Kevin and Shaq, and work your way to midrange or outside shots with Paul and Ray.

                          R. Rondo: Yep coach. I'ma outrun that ex Desperate Housewive watchin' guard.

                          *Rest of the team laughs*

                          Shaq: LOL

                          P. Pierce: ZOMG

                          D. Rivers: Ok, ok, stop laughing. Rajon, you better make that happen though.

                          *Gathers team together*

                          D. Rivers: Boston on three guys.

                          1...

                          2...

                            *Celtics get the ball*

                            D. Rivers: Then ask some help from the other guards, dumb ***

                            S. Erden: SMH

                            S. O'Neal: That's kinda like the first, middle, and last letter of your first name you know.

                            4TH Quarter:

                            2 minutes left, tied game.

                            R. Rondo: Ray! Curl!

                            *Locker room talk*

*Players celebrate and D. Rivers throws a chair in the wall*

                            D. Rivers: What are you guys celebrating for? You nearly squandered a double digit lead, and your acting like you won the finals. The only thing that I liked was that you guys won, and Avery was consistent throughout the whole game. He was up his man's grill all day. I didn't see that on Rondo, Ray, and Pierce. I'm hella dissapointed in this team tonight, but atleast we won.

                            D. Rivers: Boston on 3.

                            1...

                            2...

                            3...

                            Team: BOSTON!
