One down, 7 to go. The month of November was a great one for Hawks fan. The Hawks lose only 3 games in November. The Hawks defense is ranked #1 in points allowed and the Hawks have the third highest point differential with 7.3. They also block the most shots per game with 7.1. The Hawks did lose 6th man of the year Jamal Crawford but acquiring Chauncey Billups makes up for it, and they also got a draft pick in return.
PG-Chauncey Billups
Grade: B
Billups is averaging 18 points per game and almost 8 assist per game. His FG% is down to .386, the lowest its been since his 3rd year in the league and so is 3PT%. Billups is slowly adapting to this screen heavy slow pace offense. Billups needs to become a more reliable scorer and a second option perimeter shooter when Johnson is on the bench. Hawks gave up Jamal Crawford and prospect Josh Powell for Billups, Billups needs to step his game up to make this trade worth it.
SG-Joe Johnson
Grade: A+
Joe Johnson got a nice contract and now he is repaying the Hawks with a MVP-like performance early in the season. He is scoring a career high 28.5 points per game. His field goal percentage is also a career high. His turnovers are higher than last year but mainly because Johnson loves taking it to the rack and that sometimes end up in blocks and steals. Johnson 3 point percentage is also a sore sport. .225 is not good, its horrible actually. He did play hurt during an injury so that might be it. Johnson is 100% healthy and is now performing at a high level, scoring 36, 52 and 47 in his last 3 games.
SF-Marvin Williams
Grade: C+
Marvin has done a good job so far, but he lacks consistency. He is averaging 8 point per game, a career low. He is making impact in other categories, he is averaging 6.3 RPG, a career high. He also shooting .576 percent form the field, a career high. Despite the Hawks struggling shooting the 3 ball, Marvin is .429% from downtown. Despite all the good number, expect Marvin to be out of a Hawks jersey before the trade deadline
PF-Josh Smith
Grade:A-
Smith was having a great year before he got injured. He is having a career year in points and rebounds and also rebounds. He has been a threat both on offense and defense. Smith hasn't played in almost 3 weeks. He needs to become a better inside scorer, especially in the low post.
C-Al Horford
Grade: A+
The play of Joe Johnson have people overlooking Al's play. Despite being undersized for a center, he has done a great job scoring in the paint. He has career high's in both points and rebounds. Since Al is playing in the post more, his shooting percentage is also up. Horford has 11 double-double's in 18 games. Horford needs to become a better defender in the post. He struggled against Amar'e, giving up 31 points and also against Dwight Howard, giving up 27 points and 12 rebounds. A good All-Star like performance by Horford in the month of November.

The Hawks were delighted that Josh Smith was back. However, 16 minutes into the game, Joe Johnson was injured after getting fouled on a layup attempt. Joe stayed on the floor for minutes before getting helped off the court. Johnson injured his Achilles while trying to land after getting shoved in mid air.
"No hard feeling towards Rudy, he was doing his best to not let me score and unfortunately I got hurt" said Johnson after the game.
Without Johnson, the Hawks are gonna need Billups to step up and be that pure scorer that Johnson is. Expect the Hawks to play at an even slower pace as they try to get more points in the post with Horford and Smith. Johnson could be out as much a month. Jordan Crawford, who is barely averaging 3 point per game, will need to step up and make some plays. He scored 4 points and 4 assist in the win over Memphis. He does have turnover issues, turning the ball over 7 times in the span of the last two game, the two games where he got the most minutes. Mike Bibby will be the logical option but coach Drew says that he wants Bibby coming off the bench so that even when the young, bench guys are one the court, they still have a veteran, starting quality point guard running the show.
