1ST ROUND

#13 (20-13) VS #4 (21-12)

GAME PREVIEW

Going into the game, Coach Derozan knew that his team would have to play it's best basketball off the season for a chance to win. For Boise State there was almost as much pressure on the idea of going to the 2nd Round which has never been done in school history as there was for the football program winning it's first BCS Bowl game.

GAME RECAP

The Broncos came out cold as Paul Noonon missed his first 5 3pt attempts as BSU fell behind early 16-4. Noonon would finally knock down a few shots as leading BSU with 8 pts on 3/13 (2-11 3pt) in the 1st half, but the damage was done as BSU trailed 44-26.

Arizona shot 52% from the field in the 1st half and was led by SO Center Kryl Natvyacho with 10 pts and 10 reb.

In the 2nd half Noonon would catch fire hitting 3/3 from 3pt and 6 straight baskets to help BSU cut the lead to 10 with 8 minutes to play. Then with 1:32 to play Noonon again hit back to back 3's to to cut the lead to 4 pts. After back to back trips to the line, BSU got the ball with 18.7 seconds to play down by 3pts (86-89). Anderson would take the inbound and look to get it into the hot hands of Paul Noonon, but the pass was picked off forcing Arizona to the line yet again. The Wildcats would knock down both FT's to secure the win leaving BSU wondering what if??
FINAL SCORE BSU-86 ARIZONA-91

KEY PLAYERS
SR SG P. Noonon-33 pts 13/29 6/19 3pt
SR PF D. Montreal-16 pts 11 reb

D. Williams-18 pts 6 reb
K. Natyahahko-18 pts 13 reb

POST GAME COMMENTS BY COACH "D"

"Of Course we are disappointed but I am still very excited about what we did this year and how we can build off of this. Granted we lose 5 players (4 starters) but I am excited about how Hicks played this year and how Ojeten improved toward the end of the year and we have the makings of a very good incoming class (Which you read about soon) "

Definitely snubbed for WAC Coach of the Year. As great as this game is there are some weird decisions made every now and again.

Tough luck against Arizona.

Thanks. I felt slighted.. If anyone else should of got it then it should've gone to the Fresno State Coach being how they won the WAC or even Hawaii being how they made it to the WAC Tourney Championship Game after being the #5 seed.

By the way I am going to try and get up the Recruiting Recap tomorrow. I did update Page 1 with Season Ending Info as well.

Man tough loss against Arizona, but your guys played very well to comeback like that just fell a bit short. You definitely got screwed out of the WAC Coach of the Year award

Tough loss man, I hate to see games ended on mistakes. (It happens to me quite a bit) But you made it to the dance, it's a good building block for next year. In a year or two I can see the Broncos making a nice run. Good luck this off season.

Forgot to tell you earlier. Pitt finished with 14-16. Same as Duke. Weird year for some teams.

There were teams making the tourney I have never seen before and to see Bucknell pull out the NIT Championship made my day.

I was very surprised to see West Virginia win the NCAA Tourney as a #10 seed. I thought they might when a few games, but never thought they would beat Kansas or UNC..

It was tough seeing Arizona in the Final 4 knowing I had the ability to beat them and even more disappointing when I saw that N. Colorado had beat #5 Ole Miss in Round 1. Had I pulled out the win, I could've at least made a Sweet 16 appearence.
