Stevenett slams home a dunk during the second half

LOGAN, Utah -- Jackson Stevenett went 2-for-3 from 3-point range and scored 16 points to lead Southern Utah past Utah State 57-54 on Friday night.

The Thunderbirds (3-0) also got 12 points from Ray Jones Jr.

Tyler Newbold of the Aggies (2-1) led all scorers with 18, but he was the only Utah State player to crack double figures.

Southern Utah built a strong shooting advantage, hitting 19 of 43 (44.1 percent) to 23 of 65 (35.3 percent) for the Aggies. The Thunderbirds also converted five 3-pointers to Utah State's three.

The Thunderbirds held a 28-26 halftime edge over Utah State, which only led once.

LARAMIE, Wyo. -- Afam Muojeke scored 22 points as Wyoming defeated Northern Colorado 67-60 on Friday night.

JayDee Luster added 9 points and four assists for Wyoming (1-1). Daylen Harrison had 7 points and five rebounds, while Amath M'Baye added 6 points and four rebounds.

Devon Beitzel led Northern Colorado (0-1) with 29 points and was 6 of 10 from 3-point range.

Chris Kaba added 16 points, Neal Kingman had 7 and Elliott Lloyd added 6 points and six assists. Neal Kingman also pulled down a game-high 5 rebounds.

After leading 32-20 at halftime, Northern Colorado was outscored 47-28 in the second and went scoreless for last 5 minutes of the game.

For the contest, the Cowboys hit 23 of 42 shots from the field (54.7 percent), 3 of 9 shots from 3-point range (33.3 percent) and 18 of 20 shots from the foul line (90.0 percent). The Bears hit 23 of 48 shots from the field (47.9 percent), 9 of 22 shots from 3-point range (40.9 percent) and 5 of 6 shots from the foul line (83.3 percent).

Wyoming's bench outscored Northern Colorado's 19-2. The Cowboys had 24 rebounds and 15 assists, while the Bears had 17 rebounds and 16 assists.

Johnson's first of three 3-pointers


LEWISBURG, Pa. -- Bryson Johnson scored 17 points and shot 7 of 12 from the field to lead Bucknell to a 62-39 victory over Binghamton on Friday night.

Mike Muscala added 12 points, six rebounds and eight assists for the Bison (5-0), who opened the season with four straight wins against two Big East teams Villanova and Marquette, Big Ten's Michigan St. and Big South's VMI. Twelve players saw action for Bucknell.

Bucknell opened the second half on a 8-0 run, expanding its lead to 36-16. Johnson and Shazier hit back to back 3-pointers to start the streak, which was capped by Mike Muscala's dunk.

The Bisons went on another run later in the second half this time 10-0 to extend their advantage to 56-33 with under three minutes remaining.

Moussa Camara and Mahamoud Jabbi scored 7 points each to lead Binghamton (2-1), which shot 37.7 percent from the field (17 of 45) for the game. Kyrie Sutton and Taylor Johnston led Binghamton with 6 rebounds each.

Enoch Andoh led Bucknell with seven rebounds.

Made a mistake Bucknell vs. Michigan St. was a second round game... didnt know there were four O'Reilly CBE Classic tournaments (A, B, C, D) winners from each go to the final tournament

NORMAL, Ill. -- Kenny Moore scored a game-high 23 points and Robert Covington added 13 as Tennessee State held off Illinois State 68-59 Saturday night.

Moore was 8 of 13 from the field and 3 of 5 from 3-pointer range, Covington collected three rebounds for the Tigers (1-1), who have won their first game of the season.

The Redbirds (1-1) also had two players in double figures, led by Matt Coates with 17 points and Jackie Carmichael with 10 points.

Illinois State led 33-32 at halftime and pushed its lead to 8 early in the second half before Tennessee State rallied. The Tigers shot over 55.0 percent after halftime and used a late run to take the lead for good. The Redbirds cut the lead to four twice in the final two minutes but couldn't get any closer.

Wil Peters added 7 points for Tennessee State while Michael Green and Tashan Fredrick each had 6.

Nine of eleven players who saw action for the Tigers scored.
