'Barba' Bring Back Powell, Mbenga and Morrison to L.A.
El Segundo, CA - The arrival of Barbatrucco as coach of the Los Angeles Lakers has already led to the first markets movements. The coach "zen" has indeed brought back three players present in LA until the 2009-10 season: Josh Powell, D.J. Mbenga and Adam Morrison. Barbatrucco was reached at the Lakers training gym by our correspondent on his first, brief and informal interview as head coach.
Good morning Mr. Barbatrucco. Can you tell us something about these market movements? These three returns have surprised everyone, because are marginal players
"For me, Josh, DJ and Adam are not marginal players, but essential.
They have always played a few minutes in the Lakers
"With me Josh and DJ will play it a lot. And I've already talked to Adam about his role in the team."
What will his role?
"Adam is a player who doesn't have a defined role on the court. He has slow feet to play small forward, not physical enough to play power forward. But it's a great locker room player. His energy and his positive attitude are essential as well as Kobe baskets. "
There will be some other market movement?
"Not incoming, only outgoing. One of our rookie, Derrick Caracter, will gain experience in the D-League Bakersfield Jam because he needs to play a lot to improve his game. Luke Walton probably also leave the Lakers if we are able to sell his expensive contract."
Thank you Mr. Barbatrucco. This afternoon, the NBA will issue calendars and we will know which team debut came against the Lakers 2010-11.
