Kory Lavin: From Gent to Champion? (CH2K8)

Alright guys this is where the recap for seasons to come will be shown:

Rules and what not:
  • COACH MODE
  • Difficulty: MOP
  • 20 minute halves
  • Sliders: I might post later but let me just say... It is very very tough. Nearly every rating for the CPU from the attribute and gameplay sections are at 100. Should be fun.
  • Rosters: Hogs15 (raiderfan's that was edited by bobdylan on here and my shooting release edits ) 2010-11 season

Recruiting House Rules:
  • No 2* 7'0+ big men. Too easy to recruit and then beast with.
  • No world recruits
  • No JuCo recruits that no one else is recruiting: Don't recruit if I can help it.
  • No snagging 4* recruits that no one else offered scholarship just because no one offered.
  • I will schedule to watch my recruits in the ABL but will sim through so I can still get their ratings.
What kind of mess am I about to get myself in?

Re: Kory Lavin: From Gent to Champion? (CH2K8)

4/13/10

Shreveport, LA – The Centenary Gents fired their head coach, Greg Gary just 2 days ago and they have did not have to look too far to find their new head coach.

The new head coach, Kory Lavin, is very well known locally seeing as he has been a very successful head coach at Huntington High School which is in the same town as Centenary, Shreveport.

While he was the head coach for the Huntington Raiders, he stockpiled a 172-44 record in his 6 year stint. While he has been very successful, he has never been to the state semis even though he did make it to the final 8 this past season.

He has cracked the state top 10 many times in his 6 year career.

There were rumors throughout the season among Gents fans (a small but very dedicated group of fans) that Lavin might have been a top candidate for the job if [Greg] Gary did indeed get fired.

“Whenever I heard the rumors, I told them that the meetings were about my players and the possibility of any of them being a possible recruit for Greg Gary’s squad. It was really a half-truth because I really was talking to them about my guys but I was also being told of a possible job opening there,” said Lavin, “And it just made perfect sense for me to move on. A lot of guys on this edition of Huntington were seniors and I could make it as a head coach and not even move from my home. That was a priority, stay as close to home as I could so my family and I could be happy because we really love it here. The community is great here.”

The Gents fans are not ready to jump on his bandwagon though; many wondering if hiring a high school coach, no matter how successful he was at Huntington, was the right move.

But at the same time they have to admit, there is not much to lose so hey, Why Not?

Re: Kory Lavin: From Gent to Champion? (CH2K8)

Does "Coach Mode" mean that you will just coach the team in cpu-vs-cpu fashion and you make the coaching decisions (like me), or will you also be playing the games?

As far as my recruiting "house rules" there is only one. I only try to recruit those that are initially contacted by my "assistants", regardless of the number of stars or where they are coming from. There was one additional rule for when I was coaching Army. That was that the player being recruited must have over a 50% interest, be from the USA and be shorter than 7'0". West Point is a U.S. Military school so I didn't look to recruit "world" recruits.

Welcome aboard with the rest of the coaches & good luck at Centenary.

When I mean coach mode I mean coach mode. I'm sticking to the sidelines no matter what. I fell in love with it with my UC Davis legacy. There is just something about creating your own plays, doing recruiting more in-depth, and everything else that comes along with coach mode.

And with the recruiting I like that rule about the assisstants contacting them first, never thought about that before.

The assistants will make the first contact based on your recruiting preferences, which you can set in your coach's profile.

Meet your Gentlemen
Head Coach: Kory Lavin, 37, year 1

Offense: C
Defense: C

Scouting: C
Charisma: C+
Discipline: C-

Overall: C (65)

Assissitant Coach: Warren Reece, 40, year 1

Offense: C

Scouting: C-
Charisma: F
Discipline: C-

Overall: C-

Assisstant Coach: Karron Sparks, 36, year 1

Offense: C+
Defense: F
Teaching: D
Scouting: C+

Charisma: C-
Discipline: D

Overall: C-

Roster:

PG: Roman Tubner, SR, (64):
Strength: He is fast.
Weakness: He can't shoot, can't dribble, can't pass. (He is a 72 on ball-handle and that is the best on the team)

SG: Maxx Nakwaasah, JR, (59):
Strength: None
Weakness: He can't shoot, terrible ball-handler, bad defender, no awarenes, slow as anything...

SF: Jeron Thompson, SO, (57):
Strength: None
Weakness: He is the same as Maxx, but worse. Just a little taller...

PF: Matt Nichenko, JR, (56):
Strength: He is fairly quick and strong for a 4. He is nothing special but he will be a solid player for us.
Weakness: He cannot finish or rebound at ALL.

C: Andrew Rebol, FR, (54):
Strength: He will dunk anything if he is within a couple feet of the rim. He is also a solid 245 lbs so don't mess with him.
Weakness: He has a problem on the block. He won't make many hook shots.

Bench:

SF: Travis Thompson, SO, (56):
Strength: He is the best shooter on the team... And his 3pt rating is a 66. He is a nice rebounder as well.
Weakness: He is a TERRIBLE defender. He has the same basketball IQ as my dog.

PF: Pat Elledge, FR, (55):
Strength: He doesn't tire out...
Weakness: Can't score, can't defend, no awareness.

PG: Aaron Harwell, FR, (49):
Strength: Nothing at all.
Weakness: Everything

PG: Leo Davis, SO, (47):
Strength: Nothing
Weakness: Everything, even worse than Aaron.

Conclusion: There is not one good player on this team. We will have to lean heavely on Turner and Rebol for the scoring and the defense will be one big experiment. My favorite part of this team is that everyone's potential is a F.

Facts about the real 2010-11 Centenary Gents:
  • Record: 1-29 (win came in the conference tourney)
  • Gave up 100 points 3 times this season
  • The most points scored in a game was 75
  • Maxx Nakwaasah led the team with 12 points
  • Centenary was 330th out of 335 in scoring (59.2 ppg)
  • Centenary was 332nd out of 335 in scoring defense (80.7 ppg)
WHAT KIND OF MESS DID I GET MYSELF IN???
