NBA: A New Decade of Players (CAP)

A New Decade of Players
-- The idea behind this is based off KSJ01's project in which he follows the life and times of several NBA players created by fellow OS members. I like the idea but detest the execution and feel I could do a good job in performing under this idea while revolutionizing it to gain your interest. The idea behind this is that you will create your own rookie and I'll adjust their ratings to OVR 70, each created player will have this overall including my own. Of course their potential will be maxed out so you definitely have the chance of being the future of the NBA but you have a great deal of opposition in such a journey.

How this will work? This will definitely go at a slow pace simple to advise you first off, but every day I will announce the games going to occurring, give a short overview of each one of them and if you want to, you may do an pre-game interview on your game and this will basically shape your persona in the league. How you fare and such. Of course, your careers will vary depending on the team your drafted in and such but all of you will get a clear game to game analysis of the on-goings of your career so you're definitely not going to be left out in the shadow of things. You could be traded, maintain a career in your team, things of the sort it will all vary. But this is basically like an online My Player Mode managed by me. Some might not succeed and will end up being the Evan Turner (flop) or the Rajon Rondo (surprise) of the league. We'll just see. If you want to participate, simply fill out the following application and I'll enter your player into the draft. Also, there is no limit into the number of entry granted per year.

Re: NBA: A New Decade of Players (CAP)

2010-11 League Overview Part 1

Atlanta Hawks

The Atlanta Hawks had a successful yet uneventful season this year. They managed to finish the season with a record of 46 wins and 36 losses and ended up in the sixth seed. Josh Smith pulled out a career season even making it to the NBA All-Stars for the first time in his career. He also dethroned Dwight Howard and became the Defensive Player of the year along with this, he made the All-NBA First Team and the All-Defensive First Team, certainly an uphill career for the former Dunk Champion. Unfortunately, the Atlanta Hawks were unable to make it past the first round but pushed the Celtics hard in a series of Seven Games.

Boston Celtics

The Boston Celtics were a team who many believed had their time come to an end. However, that was far from the case, the Boston Celtics led a successful season through and through. Early on in November, they lost rookie point guard, Avery Bradley for the season but pulled through. They finished the season third with a record of 58 wins and 24 losses. Furthermore, their explosive point guard and play maker, Rajon Rondo made the All-Star team for the second time in his young career, along with that, he led the season in assist per game along with Jason Kidd at 11.3. Veteran power forward, Kevin Garnett did not falter on the defensive side of things and once more made the All-Defensive first team. In the playoffs, they fought hard against the Atlanta Hawks in the first round, eliminating them in the seventh and final game, later on, they defeated the Milwaukee Bucks in six games before eliminating the Miami Heat in the Easter Conference Finals in another six games. Once more they had made the finals and their opponents, none other than the Los Angeles Lakers, unfortunately for them, it was a repeat of last year and they were eliminated in seven games, returning to Boston without a championship for the second year in a row. Post game seven, Shaquille O'Neal announced he would be taking his retirement from the NBA and later was inducted into the 2011 Hall of Fame.

Charlotte Bobcats

The Charlotte Bobcats entered the season with Playoff Hopes, they finished the season with Broken Dreams. The Bobcats completed the season with a record of 23 wins and 59 losses. Early on in the season, they fired head coach Larry Brown who would later announce his retirement from the business and would hire coach Preston Logan. Unfortunately he didn't last either and would soon find himself on the way out for John Kuester who had been fired himself from Detroit Pistons earlier in the season. Stephen Jackson would have a good season despite his teams woes, even becoming the player of the month for March, and making the All-Star for the first time in his career, he also managed to make the All-NBA Third Team. Another successful Charlotte player would be D.J. Augustin who would come away with the Most Improved Player of the year after scoring 16 points per game.

Chicago Bulls

The Chicago Bulls had a much better season this year after their 41-41 record the previous year and early playoff exit. They ended second in the conference behind Miami with a record of 59 wins and 23 losses, a definite improvement. Derrick Rose carried a career season, twice being elected player of the month in January and February and being a high candidate for Most Valuable Player of the Year, he also successfully managed to make it to the starting line up of the All-Star team for the second time in his career along with teammate Luol Deng who made it for the first time. He joined the greats in the All-NBA first team to complete his successful season. The Bulls were looking at a run at the NBA champion but everything came to a sudden halt when they were eliminated by the seventh seed, Milwaukee Bucks in six games of the first round. Fortunately for Tom Thibodeau, his Coach of the Year award should secure him another season with team despite the horrible playoff run.

Cleveland Cavaliers

The Cleveland Cavaliers were projected to go from the best team in the NBA to the worst after the lost of LeBron James. Well... they were'nt the worst... they finished with a record of 33 wins and 49 losses, thats 13 more wins than most thought they'd get. Their first rebuilding decision was to sign sharpshooter Kelenna Azubuike to a contract and later moved on to making a trade which resulted in them sending 2011 1st Round Pick and Joey Graham for Philadelphia Sixers Center, Spencer Hawes. This caused much disappointment in Cleveland fans who felt Hawes was not worthy of the 1st Round Pick they'd likely acquired and to trade their great defender in Joey Graham too was a big mistake. Later on they traded recent acquisition Baron Davis and Anderson Varejao for Jason Richardson and Earl Clark. Another disappointing trade which left a great big hole in the point guard position and resulted in too many shooting guards/small forwards in the team along with a disappointing center in Spencer Hawes. Days later, Byron Scott was fired and replaced with Jim O'Brien, the man who had been recently fired from Indiana Pacers. This was simply overall a below average yet above mediocre season with some terrible management decisions.

2010-11 League Overview Part 2

Dallas Mavericks

The Dallas Mavericks had a rather disappointing season this year, finishing ninth place tied with eight seed, Denver Nuggets with a record of 43 wins and 39 losses but due to the fact that they lost the season series, they failed to make the playoffs this year. Dirk Nowitzki managed to have some sort of success being named the player of the month for February and making the All-Stars for the 10th time in his career also joining the All-NBA Second Team. Jason Kidd also had a stellar season, leading the league along with Rajon Rondo in assist with 11.3. Nonetheless, this is a team where individual success doesn't matter, only championship dreams do and they failed to accomplish that this year.

Denver Nuggets

The Denver Nuggets bounced back from their loss of Carmelo Anthony and Chauncey Billups and surprised the critics by making the playoffs, with a record of 43 wins and 39 losses, they took Dallas's place after defeating in the season series. However, making the playoffs is rather pointless if you don't do anything in them. They were easily swept in the playoffs by the San Antonio Spurs and back home to regroup, and rebuild.

Detroit Pistons

The Detroit Pistons surprised many and made the playoffs this year despite their below average team. They managed to sustain a record of 41 wins and 41 losses. Maybe it was their Cliff Davis signing. Probably not. Maybe the trading of Rip Hamilton and Cliff Davis for Luke Ridnour? Not likely. Perhaps the firing of John Kuester and hiring of Zach Childress. Hey, its the only logical explanation unless you think it was the signing of Arthur Williams. Oh, I think I know the answer, it was Tracy McGrady, he did win the Sixth Man of the Year award, maybe he's woken up from his deep slumber. Ben Wallace helped with his All-Defense First Team too so it could also be that. Eh... maybe it was just a fluke. They did end up getting swept by the Miami Heat in the first round.

Golden State Warriors

The Golden State Warriors had a new look, a new arena, a general new direction going forward. They had a good season too, in fact they tied for fourth with a record of 47-35 so that's definitely a good improvement from last year. During the season, they signed Chris Hunter and traded away three point shooter Dorrell Wright back to Miami Heat for Joel Anthony and Mario Chalmers, a mixed feeling trade. Monta Ellis also raised his status quo in making the All-Stars for his first time and joining the All-NBA third team. In the playoffs, they fought hard but were eliminated in six games by the Portland Trail Blazers.

Houston Rockets

The Houston Rockets fought hard this season to make the playoffs and boy did it payoff. They finished the season tied for fourth with a record of 47-35. During the season, they traded away power forward Luis Scola and Courtney Lee for hustler, Thaddeus Young and sharp shooter, Jason Kapono. They also signed free agent Matt Janning to a one year contract. Patrick Patterson successfully proved to be a good draft decision by making the All-Rookie Second Team. Unfortunately, Houston met a brick wall in the playoffs and were destroyed by the defending champions, Los Angeles Lakers.
