Wizards Hire New General Manager

The Washington Wizards have made a major change in their steps forward in their rebuilding process with the organization. They have fired Ernie Grunfeld, and hired Dalton Bayne.

Bayne, 24, is said to be making major changes within the organization. The changes are rumored to start following the press conference bringing him into the company. There are trade rumors surrounding Rashard Lewis and Andray Blatche right now. We'll keep you posted.

Blatche Shipped To Utah In Exchange For Millsap

The first major move for Dalton Bayne has been made. He has shipped Andray Blatche and a 2012 1st Round Pick to the Utah Jazz for Paul Millsap and a 2011 2nd Round Pick. The move was said to be made based on Millsaps' potential alone, and Bayne thought Millsap would be better long-term.

It has been rumored that the other trade the Wizards considered was Blatche/Lewis/2012 1st Round Pick for Tim Duncan/Antonio McDyess. Bayne confirmed that this trade was offered, and stated that the only reason he did not accept it, was because of the fact that they would be gone in a few years, where he can have Millsap around for more time.

Bayne has said that he is happy with his opening day roster, but to not count out more moves as the season progresses.

What Will The "New Big Three" Accomplish?

There it was. The Decision. Riots ensued, an owner flipped, jerseys were burned. LeBron James chose to follow Dwayne Wade and Chris Bosh and play for the Miami Heat. The reigning, defending, two-time NBA MVP, will team with two of the biggest stars in the league this year. They acted like a dynasty already after their signing, acting as if they had already won the NBA Championship. They guaranteed at least seven championships. Can they actually achieve it? I guess we'll have to wait and see.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------

NBA Pre-Season Power Rankings

1. Spurs-We think that Duncan, Manu, and Parker will overachieve this year and beat out the Lakers for the #1 spot in the West.

2. Heat-This is the team of the future, not the present. It will take them a year to get used to each other.

3. Lakers-In Phil's "last year", we suspect the Lakers to step it up and give him a proper send-off.

4. Celtics-The original Big 3 will regroup and will be stronger than ever with an improving Rajon Rondo and a debuting Shaquille O'Neal.

5. Bulls-Derrick Rose is the future top guy at the point guard position, expect a break out year to burst him into superstardom.

6. Trail Blazers-With an offseason (roster updates) addition of Gerald Wallace, expect this team to be more competitive.

7. Magic-Dwight Howard has things to prove to future free agency suitors.

8. Rockets-Expect Yao to come back in a big way.

9. Nuggets-Now 'Melo-less due to an offseason trade with the Knicks, we don't know what's in store for this Denver team.

10. Mavericks-Dirk doesn't want to go down without a ring. He's hungry.

Other Notables:

11. Thunder
13. Knicks
19. Suns
21. Cavaliers

Good luck. Not much of a NBA guy, but when I was messing around with 2K9 I always tried to rebuild the Wizards.

The Duncan deal would've given you a chance to win right away and would've been interesting to see. Plus I always liked Josh Howard at SF instead of Lewis.

Magic Beat Wizards 110-101; Wall-McGee Foul Out

John Wall started his NBA career with a bang, "Dougie'ing" in the intros, and in his very first possession, he broke Dwight Howard's ankles (although not finishing on the jumper). Paul Millsap made the first bucket of the 2010-2011 Wizards season, probably the first of his many. The Wizards had an off first quarter, and Dwight Howard went off.

The second quarter hit, and our Wizards were all business, at one point going on a 21-5 run to take the lead. Wall got into early foul trouble and missed most of the quarter.

But after those two quarters, it all went downhill. It was basically a stalemate after the second half, no team gaining advantage. Rookie sensation John Wall seemed to have bad decision-making passing wise, as he piled up seven turnovers. Late in the fourth quarter, JaVale McGee and John Wall fouled out. The Orlando Magic shot 20 free throws, sinking 17. "I guess we played a little too physical for the refs to handle. I guess we'll tone it down a bit in our next game", said Wizards head coach Flip Saunders.

Re: Washington Wizards: Rebuilding With A Wall

Wizards Beat Hawks, But Is Wall The Answer?

Two games into the season, and already Wizards fans are questioning John Wall. The rookie sensation has gotten off to a bad start, and sometimes when rookies have bad starts in the NBA, they never snap out of it. It isn't Wall's point totals, though, as he is averaging 19.0 PPG, which is a high average for rookies. It's his shot selection, field goal percentage, and decision-making that is the question for Wall. He's shooting 43% from the field, where many Wizards fans think that should be just a little bit higher. He went 11-26 in Atlanta, and was in a shooting slump early and snapped out of it late in the fourth quarter. He is shooting 20% from the free throw line, the lowest in the league for a starter. The main point of the Wizards' worries, however, is his decision making. Wall leads the league in turnovers with 8.5 a game. He tied the Wizards all-time turnover record last night with 10.

Can Wall turn this slump around, or will he be put in a category many high draftees don't want to be put in: bust.
