Re: The "Dark Knight" Rises: A Detroit Pistons Dynasty (NBA 2k11)

Breaking News
Ben Uzoh Traded to Mavs For 2014 1st Round Pick and PF Christian Robinson

Nov. 11, 2013 - In yet another surprising move, the Detroit Pistons have shipped backup PG Ben Uzoh to Dallas for their 2014 1st Rounder and young PF Christian Robinson.

Robinson is expected to be sent down to the D-League tomorrow as soon as the trade is final, and in a series of other roster moves, the team has waived F Travis Outlaw--who was in the final year of his deal--and used its Mid-Level Exception (which had been previously unused) to sign 27-year-old PG Daniel Gibson and F/C Tiago Splitter.

Gibson signed a 1 year deal worth $3.88M with a team option for another year, itself worth about $4M. Splitter also signed a 1+1 deal himself, worth just over $3M total if the option is picked up next season.

Neither player figures to see heavy minutes in the rotation. Gibson will probably see a couple minutes a game due to his perimeter defense and outside shooting touch alone, but the team plans to use Andre Iguodala as the primary backup at PG. Given his passing and playmaking ability, this doesn't seem like a bad idea.

The move also allows the team to give more minutes to reserve F/G Dorell Wright, who is having a nice season off the bench.

Credit the organization for getting something for Uzoh, as he almost certainly would have signed elsewhere in the offseason. Nobody wants to be a career backup, and Uzoh definitely has the potential to be a good starter in this league for several years. Dallas was in desperate need of a starting-caliber point man, and Uzoh will become part of a starting backcourt that also features the athletic and undersized SG Rodrigue Beaubois.

This trade now gives the Pistons THREE 1st rounders in this season's draft, all of which could range between lottery picks and mid-rounders.

Stay tuned to www.pistonpower.com for the Month In Review which should be up later today!

Re: The "Dark Knight" Rises: A Detroit Pistons Dynasty (NBA 2k11)

Month in Review
October/November '13

The Pistons celebrate immediately following a big win against Chicago last month

Dec. 3, 2013 - The 2013-14 season is off to a blazing start for the Detroit Pistons. Their 17-2 record is the best start in franchise history, and they look to continue that trend over the coming months. If they stay on this pace, look for them to challenge the 64-win total of the 2005 squad. They also currently hold the league's best road record at 10-1.

Pistons' MVP Darius Knight is off to a great start as well. After one month, he's currently in the NBA's top 5 in scoring (4th) at 30.3 ppg to go with almost 7 rebounds and 4 assists.

Detroit's Early-Season Dominance

The team is currently in the top 5 of several categories. These include:

1. Wins: 17 (1st)
2. Winning Percentage: .895% (1st)
3. Points Per Game: 107.6 (3rd)
4. Points Allowed Per Game: 93.4 (2nd)
5. Point Differential: 14.2 (1st)
6. FG Percentage: .490 (1st)
7. 3PT Percentage: .418 (2nd)
8. Assists Per Game: 21.5 (4th)
9. Steals Per Game: 8.3 (2nd)
10. Blocks Per Game: 7.9 (1st)
11. Fewest Turnovers Per Game: 10.8 (1st)
12. Field Goals Made: 854 (1st)
13. 3-Pointers Made: 199 (1st)
14. 3-Pointers Attempted: 476 (1st)
15. Total Points: 2044 (2nd)
16. Total Assists: 409 (1st)
17. Total Steals: 158 (1st)
18. Total Blocks: 150 (1st
19. Fewest Total Turnovers: 205 (2nd)

If you're keeping track, that's almost a 20-spot of league-wide, top-5 rankings. Now you know why the team has been dominant to open the season, and why this dominance should continue as the season unfolds. In some cases, the team with the league's best record isn't always the league's best team. I think we can safely say that is not the case in this instance. Be proud Piston fans.....this is special stuff.

League Surprises

1. The Toronto Raptors--

With a nucleus of good young talent, including sensational point guard Tyson Davenport, James Harden, and former Piston Greg Monroe, the Raptors are leading the Atlantic Division with their 10-8 record and are definitely a team on the rise. They are one of only two teams to hand the Pistons a loss this season, and the only one to do it at the Palace. Their future looks quite bright.

2. The Golden State Warriors--

At 15-4 and leading the West, the Warriors are playing fantastic basketball. Guards Stephen Curry and Monta Ellis are both having All-Star caliber seasons. Combine that with the play of PF David Lee (19.1 pts, 9.5 reb) and the defensive presence of C Andris Biedrins and you have a team that is humming right now. It's virtually impossible to shut down the Golden State backcourt, and it's causing defensive coordinators to incur insomnia this season.

3. The OKC Thunder--

The Thunder are also quite surprising so far, but for starkly different reasons, namely a 5-13 record and a current last-place standing in the Northwest Division. Outside of stellar play from All-Stars Russell Westbrook and Kevin Durrant, the team is getting very little from anywhere else on the roster. Early season injuries to starting center Kendrick Perkins and free agent acquisition Dejuan Blair have left the Thunder paper thin in the front court. Unless they get healthy in a hurry, it will be difficult for OKC to recover in time to make the playoffs.

League Trades: November, 2013

1. 10/31: Pistons traded G Nick Young, a '15 2nd round pick, and a '14 second round pick for Travis Outlaw and a '14 1st rounder

2. 11/13: The LA Clippers traded G's Randy Foye and Michael Redd to Boston for Erik Torres and Kevin Garnett

3. 11/26: The Pistons traded backup PG Ben Uzoh to the Mavericks for PF Christian Robinson and a '14 1st round pick

Piston Prospects

Armed with three first rounders in this season's NBA draft, the Pistons are primed to improve a roster that is already one of the league's best. Which players does the team like? Who should they target? We'll give you a little inside scoop right here:

Prospect #1: PG Alain Hodges, Auburn
-Measurables: 6'2", 200 lbs
-NBA Comparison: Deron Williams

This explosive point man out of Auburn possesses exceptional burst, outstanding athleticism, great instincts, and elite defensive ability. Hodges, 21, has the Tigers right in the thick of things in the SEC race this season with his 14 points and 9 assists per game. He's been the model of consistency over the past two years at Auburn, and if he can continue that trend for the remainder of this season, he'll be a sure-fire top 5 pick in this year's draft.

Having just traded talented backup Ben Uzoh to Dallas, the Pistons will have plenty of room for another gifted PG to back up and push current starter Jrue Holiday.

Draft Projection: Top 5

Prospect #2: C Lamar Leach, Virginia Commonwealth
-Measurables: 7'0", 276 lbs
-NBA Comparison: Yao Ming

This senior 7-foot paint wrecker is having a dominant season so far, averaging 20.2 points, 13 boards, and nearly 3 blocks per game. Marred by inconsistent play his first two seasons, Leach has been nothing short of spectacular over the last year and a half. He's a ferocious rebounder and a relentless defender, and he possesses a suprising amount of touch around the rim. He'll need to work on his midrange jumper, but that's about the only weakness in Lamar's game.

Leach has the potential to be dominant in the post on both sides of the ball, and while the Pistons already appear stacked in the front court with forward Andrea Bargnani and second-year center Marcus Buchanan, league history has proven that depth with size is never a bad problem to have. He's one of the best players in this draft with immense upside, and if the Pistons' front office has a chance to grab him, they shouldn't hesitate to pull the trigger.

Draft Projection: Top 5

Prospect #3: SG Jalen McKenzie, Lehigh
-Measurables: 6'5", 222 lbs
-NBA Comparison: Ray Allen

This junior guard is having an outstanding season for Lehigh, averaging 18 points and almost 2 steals a game. This 20-year-old high flyer has the ability to be an immediate NBA contributor due to his elite athleticism, outstanding shooting range, and fabulous defensive quickness. He also has the size to guard some NBA small forwards as well.

He does have limited upside, however, according to the scouts we've talked to. What you see from him is pretty much what you get. However, with a team as deep as the Pistons, you could do much worse than an athletic specimen who can shoot from range and get into the opposing team's best offensive players.

Draft Projection: Lottery

Key December Games:

12/5 vs. Milwaukee
12/10 @ Portland
12/17 vs. Golden State
12/27 @ Miami
12/29 vs. Toronto

Re: The "Dark Knight" Rises: A Detroit Pistons Dynasty (NBA 2k11)

Just read through the thread. I am not a NBA guy really at all, but I like the work you have put into this. Being a college basketball guy and one from Eastern Washington, I am curious how Stuckey is doing since moving to Philly and I never saw what you ended up doing with A. Daye from Gonzaga. Would be curious to see how he has developed.

Rodney Stuckey averaged 22 points, 6 assists, and 2 steals per game last season. Through a month and a half's worth of games this year, he's averaging 19.9 pts, 7.1 ast, and 2.6 stl per game.

I let go of Austin Daye pretty early on, he was included in the Stuckey trade to Philly. Last season he averaged 2.3 points and 1.1 rebounds per game as a reserve.

Thanks for reading!

Pistons Slam Bucks
Detroit Wins Convincingly, 112-95

Pistons' guard Andre Iguodala throws down an alley-oop.

Dec. 5, 2013 - The Detroit Pistons posted their second consecutive win since their overtime loss against Atlanta earlier in the week, thoroughly dominating Milwaukee. Detroit jumped out to a 26-15 advantage after one quarter against the team with the East's third best record, and they never relinquished it.

Darius Knight led six Pistons in double figures with 31 points, 6 rebounds, 2 assists, and 3 steals. Andre Iguodala also made a strong contribution with 20 points on 8 of 9 attempts from the field.

After taking an 85-60 lead into the 4th quarter, the starters for Detroit didn't play another second in this lopsided affair.

Detroit's Key 3

1. F Darius Knight: 31 pts (12-27 fg, 3-9 3pt, 4-4 ft), 6 reb, 2 stl, 3 ast

2. G Andre Iguodala: 20 pts (8-9 fg, 3-4 3pt, 1-2 ft), 3 reb, 2 ast, 2 stl, 1 blk

3. G Jrue Holiday: 14 pts (6-7 fg, 2-3 3pt), 3 ast, 2 stl

Milwaukee's Key 3

1. F Larry Sanders: 24 pts (11-16 fg, 2-2 ft), 12 reb, 3 ast

2. G Lou Williams: 20 pts (9-14 fg, 1-4 3pt, 1-2 ft), 5 ast, 1 reb

3. G Manu Ginobili: 17 pts (7-13 fg, 3-6 3pt), 5 ast, 4 reb, 1 stl

Next Game: The Pistons will travel to the Big Easy to take on Chris Paul and the Hornets on Saturday. Tip-off is at 7:30pm.

Breaking News
F Dorell Wright Leaves Game With Back Spasms

Sixth man Dorell Wright left early in the 2nd quarter of Saturday's 120-105 loss to Orlando with back spasms. The team certainly missed his shot-making and defensive presence.

Coach Tyrone Corbin told the media that Wright's official status is day-to-day. Wright, however, had a more optimistic prognosis.

"I'm gonna give it a shot on Tuesday (vs Golden State). It's a huge game and I definitely want to be out there with my teammates. We have two days before the game, so I'll just continue to get treatment and see how it feels come gameday."

Detroit, losers of 2 out of their last 3, will look to break out of the season's first mini-slump with a big win against the West's front runner. The game preview will be up shortly so keep it right here on pistonpower.com!

Re: The "Dark Knight" Rises: A Detroit Pistons Dynasty (NBA 2k11)

Game Preview
Detroit Pistons (22-4) vs. Golden State Warriors (18-8)

When? Tuesday, December 17th at 7:30.

Where? The Palace at Auburn Hills in Detroit, MI

What to watch for? The Detroit Pistons, losers of 2 of their last 3 games, are looking to bounce back against the Golden State Warriors, owners of the West's best record.

Guards Monta Ellis (27 ppg, 5.2 ast) and Stephen Curry (24 ppg, 8 ast, 5 reb) are looking to avenge last month's home loss to the Pistons and even the season series at 1 game apiece.

Reserve forward Dorell Wright seems intent on playing tonight. We'll see how effective he can be.
