A Performance for the Ages
Knight Drops 64 on Warriors in 138-135 OT Win

Darius Knight ices the game with 2 late ft's while "M-V-P" chants rain down from the rafters.

Dec. 17, 2013 - There are moments in life when words simply don't deliver any justice, when they carry no discernible weight. In such moments, time seems to stand still, if only briefly, offering a reprieve from the monotony and hardship of life. Tuesday night was one such occasion.

Darius Knight was resplendent, pouring in an NBA season-high and a team-record 64 points on 55% shooting and carrying the Detroit Pistons on his back. On a night that saw forward Andrea Bargnani in foul trouble for much of the game, the Pistons needed Knight to be Superman......or was it Batman?

The Dark Knight nailed a contested fall-away 3 pointer with .5 seconds remaining to force overtime, where he refused to let his team lose. He scored 10 more big points in the extra period to bring home the hard-fought win.

The game was a veritable offensive explosion, one that will probably give both coaching staffs nightmares for a week. Warriors' guard Monta Ellis notched a spectacular 50 points, 7 boards, and 4 assists. Stephen Curry added 30 points and 11 dimes as well.

For the Pistons, Andrea Bargnani was quite effective....when he was able to stay on the court, scoring 23 points in only 18 minutes of action. Dorell Wright had a solid game off the bench despite his ailing back, knocking in 12 big points on 4 of 6 shooting from behind the arc.

Center Marcus Buchanan notched a double-double with 11 points and 10 boards, while Jrue Holiday was everywhere with 9 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists, and 6 steals.

Detroit's Key 3:

1. F Darius Knight--64 pts (26-47 fg, 6-13 3pt, 6-6 ft), 4 reb, 4 ast, 1 blk

2. F Andrea Bargnani--23 pts (9-12 fg, 2-4 3pt, 3-3 ft), 4 reb, 1 blk

3. C Marcus Buchanan--11 pts (4-9 fg, 3-4 ft), 10 reb, 3 ast

Golden State's Key 3:

1. G Monta Ellis--50 pts (20-35 fg, 2-4 3pt, 8-10 ft), 7 reb, 4 ast, 2 stl

2. G Stephen Curry--30 pts (12-25 fg, 2-8 3pt, 4-4 ft), 11 ast, 4 reb, 2 stl

3. F Jared Dudley--15 pts (6-12 fg, 1-3 3pt, 2-2 ft), 5 reb, 3 stl, 2 ast

Next Game: The Pistons will travel to San Antonio to face the Spurs on Thursday night. Tip-off is at 7:30pm, and keep it right here on pistonpower.com for all the post-game news and notes!

( btw anyone have photo shop skills? I want to alter the last picture....make everything except the two players and the ball gray, and then make the "Become Legendary" sign along with the Jordan symbol all red. I took this picture from the in-game replay and I think it's pretty sweet, especially since it's Knight in fact being legendary....that's a shot of the 3 that sent the game to OT)

Video: Knight Game-Tying 3
Pistonpower.com has obtained this fan video of Knight's overtime-inducing 3. Note the game clock on the left-hand side of the screen immediately after the ball is inbounded. We apologize for the lack of sound....apparently the user's phone has issues with that. Anyway with that said, enjoy....over and over and over again:

Breaking: Darius Knight Named Player of the Week

Pistons' F Darius Knight

Dec. 22, 2013 - In a welcoming bit of news this morning, Pistons' forward Darius Knight was named Eastern Conference Player of the Week for the week of December 15-21. Largely on the strength of his 64-point outburst last Tuesday against Golden State, Knight averaged 42 points, 7.5 rebounds, and 4 assists for the week.

Breaking News:
F Andrea Bargnani To Miss 1-2 Weeks with Foot Contusion

Pistons F Andrea Bargnani

Dec. 27, 2013 - Andrea Bargnani was diagnosed with a left foot contusion after a rough collision during last night's game against Indiana. While the injury doesn't appear serious--he'll miss a week or two at the most--the timing is certainly bad for the Pistons as they get set to play the Heat tonight in South Beach.

"The doctors have just told me to stay off it for a few days," said Bargnani after this morning's shootaround at the American Airlines Arena. "Hopefully it heals fast and I can get back as soon as possible to help my team win."

In the interim, look for the Pistons to elevate Deandre Jordan into the starting lineup, sliding Marcus Buchanan over to PF.

Stay tuned to pistonpower.com postgame analysis from tonight's battle with the Heat (20-8).
