The Legend of Kobe Bryant 2: Lakers 111, Bucks 90

Lakers open up road trip with team play and huge second half
MILWAUKEE, WI - The Lakers began a very brief one week road trip and the first stop was Milwaukee, to take on the Bucks. The Bucks (5-5) coming off tough defeats were able to put a strong first half together against the champions. Pau Gasol who has had a rough first ten games came out with some intensity and fire. It provided the Lakers the extra step on their opponent and it was the first game where the Lakers fed the ball into the post and allowed their post game to carry them tonight. Gasol finished with 22 points and 11 rebounds while Andrew Bynum had 21 points and 10 rebounds. Kobe Bryant and Shannon Brown each had 20 points apiece in the Lakers 111-90 victory. "This was a game where everyone had a hot hand, we got good looks and knocked shots down that we needed to," said Shannon Brown.

The Lakers held the lead at halftime 56-52 until a 33-16 third quarter made some safe distance between everyone. The Lakers went 40-45 from the free throw line which would tell you where the game was possibly decided. They also out rebounded the Bucks 52-35 so they controlled the boards which is what you need to do on the road.

Corey Maggette led the Bucks with a team high 22 points and also grabbed 5 rebounds. John Salmons added 20 points and Andrew Bogut had a double double with 14 points and 10 rebounds. The loss sent the Bucks to 3-3 at home to start the season, a season that was suppose to be filled with alot of promise after the Bucks were hoping to build off the playoff run they had last year.

Re: The Legend of Kobe Bryant 2: Los Angeles Lakers Dynasty

Roster is updated and was finalized before NBA Draft. Any player movement that happened from the NBA Draft to the lockout will be inserted following the 1st year's conclusion.

The Legend of Kobe Bryant 2: Lakers 94, Pistons 82

Bryant, Gasol lead Lakers charge against Pistons, continue road trip strong
DETROIT, MI - The Los Angeles Lakers have had their down moments in the early part of this season, but one of the things that they can always count on is that their superstar, Kobe Bryant comes to play every game. That kind of work ethic has started to rub off on his teammates, especially in his all-star power forward Pau Gasol. Gasol by all stretches has had the worst statistical numbers in his career and the past two games it has looked as if Pau Gasol found Pau Gasol. Nothing was more noticeable last night in the Lakers 94-82 win over the Detroit Pistons and the Lakers second win on this three game road trip.

Pau Gasol produced another double double with 26 points and 14 rebounds and an incredible display from the field going 11-15 shooting. Kobe Bryant led all scorers with 27 points, 6 rebounds and 8 assists as the Lakers jumped out infront with a strong opening quarter and didn't relinquish any of their 29-16 lead after the first quarter. The Lakers have the past couple of games become more of a passing team allowing just not certain players to get going, but rather an entire unit to get going. While scoring might not be the only stat that is focused on, the Lakers have made it a priority one, but have also relayed the message that to some players on this team, it is about the little things. "We have guys who are capable on any given night to put up 20-25 points, but that might be what we need from them on this particular night. Andrew Bynum, Ron Artest, Lamar Odom are players who could put those type of numbers, but we rely on Andrew to rebound the ball and block shots, we rely on Artest to play extremely pressure defense and to spread the defense on the offensive end and with Lamar, we just expect him to do a little bit of everything because of his talents," said coach Phil Jackson. It appears to be working as Bynum only had 9 points, but had 7 rebounds and 2 blocked shots. Artest had only 5 points, but 4 assists and 2 steals. Odom had only 6 points, but pulled down 9 rebounds, dished out 2 assists and blocked 2 shots.

The Pistons, a team in a transition period. Not sure what their identity is but still have the leadership of Richard Hamilton and Tayshaun Prince, but just couldn't overcome the Lakers tall front line. Prince led the Pistons with 21 points, but was quite on the boards only having 3 rebounds. Hamilton was covered by the triple team of Bryant, Artest and Barnes which held him to 11 points on 5-14 shooting from the field. Rodney Stuckey added 16 points and 5 assists but nothing else was able to give the Pistons any chance in this game.

The Lakers who had been winless on the road coming into this trip will look to go for a perfect 3-0 trip on Friday when they take on the Minnesota Timberwolves.
