MEET THE NEW JORDANAIRES

# 11: BRENDAN HAYWOOD

Position: Center

Age: 22

Height: 7-0

Weight: 268

Important 2000-01 Stats: None (Rookie)

Jordanaire (to try to be) most similar to: Will Perdue

The Good: In what might have been a steal of a deal, Jordan got Haywood from Orlando this year in exchange for Laron Profit and a future first-round draft choice. If anything, Haywood can block shots.

The Bad: Outside of that, no one is certain yet. Collins has complained during exhibition season that he's not a good rebounder. He has a little jump hook he shows off every so often, but no one will consider him a formidable threat in the paint anytime soon.

What does he have in common with Perdue? The dreaded "soft" tag. Perdue came into the league with it too, but he made it disappear soon after, becoming the backup center for the first three Bulls championship teams.

Bottom line: Perdue was no shot blocker. If Haywood can improve his rebounding skills, the Wizards might have at the very least a quality backup center. Maybe more.

MEET THE NEW JORDANAIRES

# 12: TYONE NESBY

Position: Forward

Age: 26

Height: 6-6

Weight: 225

Important 2000-01 Stats: 8.3pts, .357 FG%, .272 3P%

Jordanaire (unfortunately) most similar to: Dennis Hopson

The Good: Um, well. He shot 80 percent from the line. Takes care of the ball pretty good.

The Bad: Like Laettner and Alexander, Nesby is a player in desperate need of an public image makeover. After coming over last season in a trade from the Clippers, Nesby endeared himself to the fans and the franchise by almost coming to blows with then-coach Lenard Hamilton during a home game and subsequently having to be removed by security.

If only that was his only flaw. Nesby has shot worse every year since his rookie season. He was still hoisting up almost three three point attempts a game in '01, despite only making 27 percent of them. Doug Collins has been saying a lot of positive things in the preseason about him though, that his hustle has been impressive. Nesby is in a contract year, so maybe that has something to do with it.

Bottom line: Hopson was a nice guy, but he too couldn't shoot to save his life. If Jordan's body doesn't hold up this year, we might be seeing a lot of this guy again.

MEET THE NEW JORDANAIRES

# 13: BOBBY SIMMONS

Position: Guard-Forward

Age: 21

Height: 6-7

Weight: 210

Important 2000-01 Stats: None (Another dang rookie!)

Jordanaire (unfortunately) most similar to: Darrell Walker

The Good: Very fast for 6-7. Taken in a pick swap with Seattle, Jordan loves his toughness and work ethic.

The Bad: If he is going to develop into a good player, it'll probablybe awhile. As of now he's an awful shooter, and a team can only develop so many rookies when they're chasing a playoff spot.

Bottom line: Darrell Walker had a ten year career in the league without a jumpshot. If Simmons could be some sort of a defensive stopper for a few minutes a game, he might be worth a spot on the roster.

Re: 10/30/2011 = 10/30/2001

Ok, the time is near. Of course I've had a hard drive failure this week that killed some important data I hadn't yet backed up, and real life is crazy, but I'm going to try to stick to posting results ten years to the day as best I can. If I'm unable, oh well, it's not the biggest loss I suppose.

Going to open a new thread with a better title now. Continuing from there.
