The Orange and Blue! New York Knicks [nba2k12 - Coach Mode]

To be honest, this is not an offseason period I was looking forward to my team blew a 3-1 lead to the eventual champions but besides that.. my team simply had a bunch of expiring contracts and free agents and my staff was undermanned (1 scout)

I couldn't really shop for the top free agents as I still had major stars with bigtime contracts on my team in Amare and Carmelo so my focus was mostly to sign my own players who had expiring contracts and try to keep my team together as much as I could

NY Knicks Free Agents

I knew one thing.. I wanted to move up in the draft and was taking the chance hoping that my homegrown PG Toney Douglas, a product of the NY basketball courts has developed enough to be my starting PG. With that decision finalized in my mind, I shopped PG Chauncey Billups and got this trade

THE NBA DRAFT

Even though I moved up.. there really isn't that much talent beyond the top 10 in the nba draft, so I didn't really have a plan for this draft and simply drafted the best available player left in my eyes

One thing to take note of is that the Magic traded for the #1 overall spot.. I'm not sure how on earth the Pistons agrees to give the reigning champions the 1st overall pick but they did the deal.. they traded Gilbert Arenas, a future 1st round pick and a highly-touted Center to get the deal done.. great, just great.. the rich got richer

Coach Mode? Is that where CPU controls the players and you watch? Or what I never did it in any sports game...I would like to in 2k12.

it's that, except you control the game at any time you want to..
you can just sit there and watch

but basically the players play and you coach them by calling strategy/timeouts/substitutions/etc, not to mention all the other features a franchise/association offers

you even get trophies/etc just like playing the game itself

KEY FREE AGENT SIGNINGS

First order of business was to re-sign Landry Fields I gave him a 4 yr contract with a player option and guaranteed him a Starter role to bump his contract $ down with his interest still capped

My team was also lacking a PF and this one guy caught my interest, thankfully it didn't take much for him to sign a contract even if he was only being asked to be a "Role Player"

First game of the year and after a lackluster offseason where some gambles were made such as handing the starting PG reigns to Toney Douglas and trading "Big Shot" Billups away.. I couldn't wait to get this season started.

Unfortunately, it started off bad.. very bad. We were the favorites against the Bucks being a better rated OVR team by at least 10 points (81 vs 71) and we played miserable out there.

I'm not sure how badly trading away Chauncey Billups will affect my team but so far I do not like what I see.. Toney Douglas is more of a SCORING point guard and that is not what my team needs.. we have our scorers in Amare and Carmelo..

only time will tell if I messed up letting Chauncey Billups go

With only 14 games for the season, every game counts and I know the value of beating the teams we're supposed to beat.. we were favored against the Bucks and we're even more favored against the Pistons who rank pretty much dead last in team OVR OFF and DEF.. and yet somehow.. my team managed to lose the game.

Once again, PG Toney Douglas took an insane amount of shots and I can't fault him.. it's in his dna he is a scoring PG and that is disconcerting as I want him to run my offense not be my offense..

I'm not exactly panicking.. it's just my team is undersized as it is and without any cohesion on offense to "run and gun" aka the Leak Out offensive strategy, I decided to trade my highly regarded FA PF pickup Jonas Jerebko who is more of a finesse player.. hoping for more size and physicality for my team

First month of the season gone and this is not at all how I expected my season to be am I in panic mode..? yes.. yes I am!

winless after 3 games, seeing how my gamble completely backfired by starting Toney Douglas and without the option of acquiring a PG through trades.. I don't know what else to do right now except to do a slight change in offensive philosophy by getting bigger.. before the game I traded away finesse players for more physical bigmen but it still did not help against the Hawks as my Knicks start off the season winless.. 0-3

This isn't a fire sale.. I am not giving up on this season at all.. simply put, my team does not need scorers.. Wesley Matthews is a good player but my team already has a starting SG in Landry Fields, so I shopped Wesley out and got this offer from the Pacers.. the #1 pick is what drew my attention but Tyler Hansbrough isn't bad himself and has a winning pedigree.. hoping my team pulls it together with so many recent acquisitions
