Re: Raymond Rose Legacy

LOUISVILLE CARDINALS ARE 2008 NATIONAL CHAMPIONS
Oregon Ducks take a rout, 76-52

Apr. 7, San Antonio TXRick Pitino got his victory ride as Louisville captured the 2008 NCAA National Championship with a convincing 76-52 rout of Oregon at the Alamodome. The game was as close as could be at the first half with the Cardinals ending on top by 5, 34-27, though were outshot from the field (34%-37%) and outrebounded (15-19). But Pitino got the better of Oregon coach Ernie Kent in the final canto, as the Cardinals took an early 8-2 scoring run to post their first double-digit lead, 42-29, care of David Padgett and Jerry Smith. The Ducks lost ground and became panicky. Two straight turnovers led to two fastbreaks, Padgett laid up in yet another turnover, Smith again, finally another basket by Padgett from an assist pass by Edgar Sosa and the Cardinals found themselves with an insurmountable 21-point advantage, 54-33, with 9 minutes left in the game. Oregon never recovered as Louisville held on for College Basketball’s biggest prize.

Padgett had 16 points and 10 rebounds and was the “Player of the Game”. Terrence Williams made a game-high 17 for the Cardinals including 4 from the arc. Senior Malik Hairston led the Ducks with 14. Louisville totally outplayed Oregon in the second half, finished the game better from the field, 41%-31%, and ended up with a better rebound total, 34-29.

Tough year for the Highlanders (but you did make it to the conf semis) next year will definitely be better... good luck coach

Also I love how you do write ups for other games as well

Thanks a lot. I'll take time out with UC Riverside for awhile as I head towards my Football Dynasties (La Salle Explorers and Seattle Seahawks). I will definitely be back soon, CK 2k8 is tops and I am looking forward for my new recruits to come in and fill up the slots.

I'm definitely gonna have to check out the football dynasties while this one is put on hold a little bit. Hope you have a good second season with UCR.

I just caught up with this. This is very good! It was a tough first year, but that is realistic.
