Luke Roh is showing he's got what it takes to be the conference's Freshman of the Year. He's been on a complete tear ever since replacing Pat Moore in the starting line-up, and he looks to be improving with every game. He finished the first half of this game with 15 points, including 9 consecutive, before going out for a breather. Within the first ten seconds of the second half he had picked up right where he left off, nailing a three point shot. Luke hit every open shot and attacked the basket creating open shots for his teammates. The entire team fed off of Luke's incredible energy. We overpowered the Leopards in every area of the game, and in doing so sent a message to our conference rivals. Colgate's days at the bottom of the league are over. We're sitting in the top spot at 2-0 right now, with every other team besides Army (0-2) sitting at 1-1. We travel to American on Saturday, where Luke Roh will match up with one of the conference's top small forwards and scorers, Tony Brewer.

The American Eagles would not go as quietly as Army and Lehigh. The Eagles have the leading scorer in the conference behind wunderkind C.J. McCollum, and he was going to get his no matter what we did. All we had to do was focus on limiting everyone else. He scored about a third of his team's points with 20. Luke had a quiet game in comparison to his last, but still came away with a solid 14 points. Yaw was the man of the match scoring 25 points. He was too busy scoring to rebound. Nick did both and posted a double-double. Mike and Mitch were ice cold in this game, and that was the reason it stayed so close. They played great defense on those guys. We move to 3-0 in conference and tie our season consecutive wins mark. It will be a difficult feat to extend that mark to four games, as we travel to Lehigh to face C.J. McCollum and his Mountain Hawks.

We got off to a great start against the most talented team in our league. Rolls and Gyawu looked like Stockton and Malone, teaming up for over 20 points and assisting eachother on countless baskets. Our team always has great success when we play defense like we did in the first half. A suffocating man-to-man defense with bits of 1-3-1 added in to create confusion and turnovers. The Patriot League's leading scorer C.J. McCollum scored 12 points in the first half but only shot 4/11. We capitalized on those misses early on to get out to the big lead. But they kept chipping away and creeping back in the second half. We ended up losing the rebounding battle 32-25. We also lost the offensive rebounding battle, a rare occurence for this team. That along with C.J. McCollum and points in the paint really killed us. They went on a 10-0 run with two minutes left to go ahead. We needed "Luke-time" more than ever in those last two minutes cutting the lead down. Unfortunately Luke-time hadn't come all game and hasn't since his 30+ point showing. I was very excited at halftime and thought we were going to pull away with an absolutely huge conference win. It just wasn't in the cards. Now our focus must shift to Saturday for our away game versus the Bucknell Bison and their Patriot-star bigman, Mike Muscala.

Re: Coach Carbaugh: A College Hoops Legacy

The favorites in the Patriot are Bucknell and Lehigh. I just lost to both of them They are much more talented than Colgate. There isn't much parity in the Patriot, either Bucknell or Lehigh will win the regular season/tournament.

The squad put on yet another great performance against a top team with a disappointing end result. We could just as easily be sitting at the top of the conference at 5-0 right now. Luke Roh carried the team during the first half, which was highly contested before he went on one of his signature Luke-time runs. We could've had a greater lead at halftime if we didn't turn the ball over so much. That would be the theme of the game. The second half was much faster paced than the first. Rebounding sealed the deal for them. With under a minute left, we had the opportunity to win the game. But a Mike Muscala offensive rebound led to a Byson Johnson three pointer to put them up 3. We could'nt hit a shot, and on the intentional foul we couldn't get a rebound off the miss. The team hasn't been through many of these crunch-time late game situations. This was a valuable learning experience for them, but it still stings to lose such a close game. We will have to correct this losing streak at home versus 5-12 Holy Cross.
