Background
Kevin Carbaugh is a former shooting guard of the Michigan State Spartans. He began regularly playing his junior year, the season of 98-99. For what he lacked in athleticism and starpower, he made up for with intangibles, awareness and shooting touch. He was a solid contributor to the eventual Final Four team. Midway through his senior year, Kevin collided with an opposing player very hard. His knee was blown out, and his playing days were over. He watched as his teammates went on to win the National Championship. This tragic twist of fate has left an undying hunger in Kevin to earn his own championship.
After graduation, Head Coach Tom Izzo welcomed Kevin back as an assistant. He aided the Spartans in practice and daily activities for three years before accepting a high school coaching job in New York. Kevin welcomed the change of scenery and chance to teach young players. He coached several successful teams in his five years at the New York high school. He was then asked to be an assistant coach at Iona. Kevin's knowledge of the area was instrumental in recruiting the local talent.
The Colgate Raiders hired Kevin Carbaugh as their new Head Coach for the 2011-2012 season. The Raiders have struggled in recent years, having not gone .500 since 07-08. Emmett Davis was shown the door and Coach Carbaugh looks to build a successful program from the ground up.

This was a very sloppy game, right from the beginning. We couldn't really get too much going offensively, and we turned the ball over entirely too much. Pat couldn't buy a bucket. I was really expecting more of out him. Chad Johnson really impressed me off the bench today. He single-handedly led a run in the second half to put us up by a good margin. Yaw Gyawu played very well as well, earning Player of the Game honors. His power dunk really got the crowd going. Overall I am disappointed in the team's effort out there today. Luckily, our opposing team's effort was even worse. They looked like a junior high team out there.
Though I feel we played better this game than we did against Hartford, obviously there is still much room for improvement. Monmouth came into Cotterell Court looking to the shoot the ball. That plan was effective, as they were shooting lights out all game long. Our man to man defense was getting beat by their speed off of screens, and our zone was less than impenetrable. We definitely had chances to win this game, though. Down by ten points coming out of the half, the squad went on a 14-2 tear to go up 42-40. We held the lead for a few minutes until our offense completely disappeared. I think we must've missed 20 consecutive shots. Our team is in dire need of a leader, a go-to guy that can step up when the rest of the team is in a drought. Hopefully someone can rise up to the task.
