Re: RIP CITY-Portland Trail Blazers

GAMES 16--20

GAME 16 VS Indiana Pacers
Coach Mode first 18 minutes
Simulate last 30 minutes

Portland snaps losing streak in 20 point win over Pacers, it was the debut of former Pacer Danny Granger who was traded to Portland for Alonzo Gee and a first round pick that Portland got from OKC, Pacers struggled the first half scoring just 33 points as Portland led,42-33. Portland opened it up in the 2nd half at home, outscoring the Pacers 54-43 in the 2nd half, Portland finally gets another win, and to make things seem even better 4 outta their next 5 games are at home, up next though is a trip to LA to take on the rival Lakers... Danny Granger had a rocky debut going 4-17 for 10 points, and missing all three 3 pointers he took, but in the end a win is a win, Many wondered if Granger would take shots away from Aldridge, LA was 6-11 for 12 points and 8 rebounds, he may have scored more if he had shot free throws. Pacers Anthony Randolph who was part of that trade that sent Hibbert to Minnesota, tied a career high in rebounds with 19, He also had 21 points, Steve Nash struggled alil, just 4 assist and 7 turnovers, Pacers are now 8-10, Portland moves to 5-11. Aldride also had 4 steals, and Lin with 3

GAME 17 @ L.A LAKERS
coach mode 27 minutes
simulate last 21 minutes

Lakers run away in the 2nd half and go on to win 119-84, To much muscle for the Blazers, Another ugly 2nd half as the Lakers outscored Portland 70-46. Alot similar to the Orlando loss. Granger had 11 points in his first 21 mins played, in the last 16 he only scored 4 points. Aldridge led the way for the Blazers with 24 points. But again the Blazers get dominated, However the Lakers are one of the top teams in the west this season and they were at home were they are now 9-1, Lakers shooting was on top of its game, 62% in the 2nd half, 58% on the game, One bright spot Portland now goes home for the next 4 games. However it is the very next day and against the other top western conference team the Thunder, So the Blazers had to play the Lakers in LA and home vs the Thunder on back to back nights.. The Thunder are 12-4, Rookie SG OJ Hodges is not 100% but he will start however he may be reduced in minutes till he is 100% he didnt get a extra day to rest cause of the back to back, but Portland needs the depth,

GAME 18 VS Oklahoma City
Cpu vs Cpu all game.....

Blazers knock off Thunder a day after getting beat by 35. ( I turned this game on to Cpu Vs Cpu, found sliders for cpu vs cpu and turned it on to HOF difficulty, cause thats what it asked for, I set the rotation minutes and for the most part the cpu kept them how i wanted, Lin played alil more then i had set, And i was still able to switch over to User and make a few different subs i wanted to try, and the CPU actually left them in there longer then i thought, I thought they were going to re do the subs on the very next dead ball)..... Anyways it was pretty close all the way through, biggest lead was by the Blazers and it was the final score, 8 points,

Durant didnt help his west leading Thunder as he could not stop the inside game of Hickson, Aldridge and Granger, Durant picked up 5 fouls and only played 24 minutes, shooting 2-10, Granger in his 3rd game with the Blazers and first at home, went off for the Rose Gardenn crowd, 26 points 10 rebounds, 4 assist 4 steals 2 blocks, Aldridge had a quiet 18 and 6, But what is impressive is the win over the Thunder just 24 hours after playing in LA, the Blazers are now 6-12, winning 2 outta the last 3, They have 2 days off and then its a home game VS the Knicks, #1 overall pick OJ Hodges will be back for that game......

GAME NOTES-Blazer PG Jeremy Lin had 2 costly tunrovers in the final 2 possessions, to go along with 7 turnovers in the game, Knicks hung on to win by 5, Aldridge was held to 3-11 shooting, just 7 points on the night, Granger had a all around nice game, but had only 28 minutes of action has he was in foul trouble, he had 4 in the game, Granger also hurt his back in the game and had to leave late he may not play vs Golden State.... Some Blazer fans are grumbling about Lins Turnovers and would almost give more time to Telfair or even the rookie 17th pick Tavcar.. next up the Warriors after a 3 day break...

GAME NOTES-Blazers lose another player to injury as OJ Hodges the #1 pick in the draft went down again, He was in only his 2nd game back after missing 3 games to a previous injury. now he will miss 1-2 weeks, Hodges was also injured in the pre season, Granger is still hurt but may come back to help the blazers against the Sixers in there 4th and final home game of there 4 game home stand, Lin turns it over again late as the Warriors make 6 free throws in a row down the stretch and close out the game, Lin may start getting heat for the late game turnovers, he had only 1 turnover all game but it was less then 35 seconds left and Portland down only 3. with Hodges out its unclear who will start at SG, Williams?, Heyward?, or even a 2 point guard lineup of Lin and Telfair ?,

GAME 23 @ Dallas Mavericks

Before the game Coach Henry made a interesting move, Switching Point guards, Starting Telfair and benching Lin due to the turnovers in late games.. and off and on playing... the move seemed to work out for Telfair who had a double double 10 pts 10 assist, Lin did some productive things off the bench, The Blazers play the very next night @ New Orleans, Will they stick with Telfair at PG, and it sounds like SG OJ Hodges who has been battling Injuries will miss the Hornets game, that way the team will have 3 days off b4 they play again. Back home vs the Clippers...... As for this game talk about a tale of 2 halfs.. Dallas jumped out to a big halftime lead by 15, shot very well, but in the 2nd half it was all Portland outscoring Dallas 55 to 35. As Portland hung on to win 99-94 Granger hit a clutch 3 with about 45 seconds to go to give Portland a 6 point lead, Portland has now won 3 straight games and 5-5 in their last 10 as things are turning around... Up next the 11-14 Hornets, Portland is now 9-14..

The Blazers had 3 days off before the Clippers and they went out and traded Marcus Morris and rookie PG Arvydas Tavcar to Dallas for 6th man Jason Terry, Some like it some dont, Terry is 35 years old but can still bring it when he can, Some wanted to keep the 2 younger players in Morris and Tavcar, But Portland couldnt pass up getting another quality 6th man to go along side Hickson when the team is healthy, Thats another reason why Portland pulled the trigger, with all the injuries they want a guy they can trust in starting if need be and Terry granted only has started 89 games in the last 6 seasons, can still get it done, Terry dressed down and played against the Clippers playing 19 minutes he struggled shooting but mainly i think he was just trying to much out there to give the rose garden fans a show in his debut, the coach didnt want to give him 23-25 minutes yet, he has to earn it, and doesnt wanna take away time yet from guys who have been here for awhile, Hayward, Williams and even Murphy. Blazer fans are excited to see what the team can do at full strength, right now their still with out OJ Hodges, and Granger has been playing but isnt 100% and backup PG Telfair is out to, As for the game it was another solid game by the Blazers who beat the Clippers for the 2nd time in 7 days, Ibaka continues to clean the rebounds up right and left, just 2 games ago @ Dallas Ibaka recorded a career high 16 rebounds, that lasted 2 games, he had only 6 @ New Orleans but bounced back go grab a new career high with 19 over the Clippers, Blake Griffin of the Clippers has the most in one game this season for the NBA with 25. Portland wins there 5th in a row and now are 11-14 and tied for the 8th spot in the west, with 3 other teams, they get another 2 days off and then its home vs the struggling Suns, who are 11-17 and 5-9 on the road, Granger is expected to be 100% by that game, Since being a Blazer Granger is averaging 17.2 pts and 4.0 rebounds a game and shooting 45%, and # 1 overall pick Oj Hodges is not 100 % but will start vs the Suns... and play limited mins about 25,

Trail Blazers added Danny Granger and Jason Terry in Decemeber. Right now they have no other plans to make anymore moves at this time..

Lets see how January turns out the Blazers have 10 road games including a 6 game road trip and one 3 game home stand, They have only 5 home games, So this will be a rough month, with road games at OKC, Chicago and Boston to add.... the Blazers start off the month @ Denver and OKC on back to back nights, Both divisional games...
