Re: In the Company of Wolves - A T'Wolves Dynasty (NBA 2K12)

Timberwolves Trade for Miami Guard Norris Cole
T'Wolves deal Ridnour and 2012 2nd Rd Pick for Cole and Joel Anthony

Minneapolis, MN - In a move that was seen by many as necessary to contend, the Timberwolves traded back-up point guard Luke Ridnour and a 2nd Round Pick to the Miami Heat in exchange for rookie point guard Norris Cole and veteran center Joel Anthony. When asked about what prompted the trade coach Rick Adelman said, "We felt that Norris would help keep our offense running with Ricky out of the game and the addition of Joel definitely helps shore up our center position off of the bench. He played a lot of big minutes last year in the post season and that experience will definitely come in handy for us. It's a shame his time was cut so much in Miami. But Miami's loss is our gain,"

Adelman was asked how he'd change up the rotation and what he envisioned for the team, "Well Norris and Joel won't suit up for our trip to San Antonio but they will definitely be ready for our home game against the Wizards. Norris will be our primary point guard coming off of the bench and Joel will split time with Darko to spell Kevin and Derrick. I think in the long run this will help us out a lot. It's not some massive overhaul but then again, I don't think we need one. It's small tweaks like this that will get us to the top,"

On a phone call with the newly acquired guard, Norris Cole had this to say about coming to Minnesota, "I love it down here in Miami and I love my teammates but i'm looking forward to playing with the guys up there. They're building a strong team and from what I got from talking with coach, i'm going to like the offense,"

Outgoing point guard Luke Ridnour told the Star-Tribune, "It sucks knowing you're expendable somewhere but i'm excited about going down to Miami and challenging for a title right away,"

When asked if the trade would mess with the team chemistry at all, Adelman shot down the notion saying, "We've kept our core intact and made a small adjustment to our bench. I think we'll be better off in the long run. Ricky won't be looking so ragged after our back-to-backs and that's definitely a good thing. He's still a young kid and in excellent shape but this is a long season. He's never played through an entire NBA season and I just want to make sure he's healthy and with us for the stretch run,"

The Timberwolves' next game is against the San Antonio Spurs before returning home to play the Washington Wizards and welcome Norris Cole and Joel Anthony to the Target Center.

Game Notes
The Timberwolves play a bit short-handed after the trade with Miami and are without Norris Cole and Joel Anthony until they return home. Expect Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love to log heavy minutes during the short traditional period. J.J. Barea and Brad Miller also look for expanded minutes off of the bench to fill the void. After two physically draining match ups against the Toronto Raptors and Cleveland Cavaliers, (that ended in come from behind victories) will the Timberwolves have the energy to keep their winning streak going and beat a very strong Spurs team? Or will the mentally draining forth quarters catch up with the young Timberwolves?

Re: In the Company of Wolves - A T'Wolves Dynasty (NBA 2K12)

Big Letdown In San Antonio
Timberwolves Win Streak Snapped by Spurs

San Antonio, TX - The Timberwolves walked into a buzz saw Friday night as they were demolished by the San Antonio Spurs 88-63. The first quarter was the only competitive part of the game and left the Timberwolves trailing by two. As has been the story this season, once Ricky Rubio left the game at the start of the second quarter, the T'Wolves lost all they had going for them. Their rhythm was interrupted and even when Rubio reentered, they never recovered. It didn't help that the San Antonio Spurs were absolutely unconscious from the field. They shot a scorching 55% from the field as well as 53% from three-point range.

"I thought we looked alright out there tonight," coach Rick Adelman said. "We missed some open looks and only hit two three-point shots but I thought defensively we were there. San Antonio was just having one of those games where it seemed like they didn't miss at all. Couple that with their trademark defense and it was a recipe for disaster,"

(Wesley Johnson with a come from behind block on Ginobili)

"As much as I don't like to admit it...we were going to lose sometime. It's damn near impossible to win all the way out. There's no shame losing to the Spurs though. They've been good for a long time. They just didn't miss tonight. Not much you can do when that happens," Wesley Johnson said after the game.

"I think the loss took a little bit of pressure off," Derrick Williams said. "It has been 'how long can they keep the streak going?' for a couple weeks now. Now we can just go out and play. We showed the NBA that we can play with the best and I think we'll continue to do so,"

The loss was the first since Derrick Williams joined the starting line-up. Even in defeat he still put up stellar scoring effort with 19 points. Kevin Love was the only other member of the Timberwolves to reach double figures with 10 points and 7 rebounds.

"They got us once on their floor now we get a chance to get them when they come to ours," Love said. "I still like our chances against anyone. One loss doesn't ruin what we've been building. It was bound to happen some time,"

When asked about his bench's poor play over recent games Rick Adelman said, "It's something that's becoming a bit of a concern. With Norris Cole and Joel Anthony joining the rotation next game i'll definitely be shuffling some things around. The most important thing we need to do is keep our momentum up when Ricky, Kevin or Derrick are on the bench. You look at a team like the Chicago Bulls and see that they can keep momentum going and even start a run when the starters aren't playing well. That's what I want to bring to Minnesota and that's what i'm hoping adding Norris and Joel will do,"

The T'Wolves' next game is against the Washington Wizards at the Target Center and also serves as the Timberwolves' debut for guard Norris Cole and center Joel Anthony.

Game Notes
The Timberwolves looks to come back after getting their 8-game win streak snapped in San Antonio in their last game. Minnesota welcomes the Washington Wizards to the Target Center. Washington started out a respectable 6-5 before going on their current 6-game losing streak. Recently-acquired guard Norris Cole and center Joel Anthony make their Minnesota debuts with the task of revitalizing the Minnesota bench. How will the new players fit into the rotation? Can Norris Cole run the offense with Ricky Rubio out of the game?

Re: In the Company of Wolves - A T'Wolves Dynasty (NBA 2K12)

Off Target
Wall and Blatche Ruin Cole's Timberwolves Debut

Minneapolis, MN - The Washington Wizards came into the Target Center and ruined the debut of Norris Cole by narrowly escaping the Minnesota Timberwolves 82-78. Andray Blatche had a spectacular night from the field by going 9/10 for 20 points. Rashard Lewis gave Michael Beasley trouble all night by draining 3 three-point field goals, including a turn around three from between half court and the three-point line. Norris Cole's debut could be called, barring the loss, a success. Cole had 8 points off of the bench and dished out 2 assists.

"Norris played great for the first game in our system. He provided us with instant offense off the bench and it was evident that Martell and Wayne benefited from him being on the court," coach Rick Adelman said. "He kept the tempo up and kept the game close when we were down. Thats exactly what we expected from him,"

"It was a close game. I think they made a couple of ridiculous shots and passes that never should have happened but what are you gonna do?" Cole said in the locker room. "I liked being out there with the guys. It's definitely different than playing in Miami but the offense is similar. They like to get out and run and so I do. I'll like it here,"

When asked why newly-acquired center Joel Anthony didn't play, Adelman said, "I thought the rotation we had was doing a good job out there. They had good rhythm with each other. He'll definitely see some time in the next game,"

Guard Wesley Johnson was also asked about some of the shots and passes the Wizards made during the game and could only shook his head, "It's like someone wanted us to lose. It got frustrating when Lewis hit that turn around three from almost half court. You just have to shake your head in moments like that. They had guys leaking out down court and McGee just lobbing it all the way down for easy layups. We even had guys back there but somehow they came up with it Like I said, it's almost like someone wanted us to lose,"

"There were some weird plays and baskets being made all game," Adelman said. "Outside of that we played a tough game. We're still in the process of getting better. Once we assimilate Norris and Joel into our rotation I think we'll be fine,"

Kevin Love was asked if these two loses were going to breed the same attitude that was seen early on in the season but Love disagreed saying, "That was a totally different situation. We played a tough Spurs team the other night and were just really, really unlucky tonight. Early on in the season was rough. We've grown a lot since then. We'll be just fine,"

Game Notes
Minnesota invades Madison Square Garden and thrusts themselves onto the national stage once again. The teams that met in the first game of the season are drastically different than the teams that meet tonight. One one hand you have the fast rising Timberwolves looking to make the playoffs for the first time in years. One the other, you have the Knicks who are absolutely ravaged by injuries. Star forward Carmelo Anthony tore his ACL earlier this year and will miss the remainder of the season. Amar'e Stoudemire is also out with a sprained neck. The T'Wolves look to hand New York another defeat on their home floor and get revenge for and opening night loss.

Re: In the Company of Wolves - A T'Wolves Dynasty (NBA 2K12)

Storming the Garden
Balanced Play Fuels T'Wolves Victory

New York, NY - What the Timberwolves GM and Rick Adelman envisioned with the Norris Cole trade has finally come to pass. The Timberwolves led a balanced attack from the starters as well as the bench to blowout an injury plagued Knicks squad 85-70. To the Knicks' credit, they kept the game fairly competitive in the first half. After half time, the Timberwolves broke the game wide open and built a 20-point lead mid-way through the fourth quarter.

Coach Rick Adelman, when asked about his teams defensive performance, was very pleased, "I thought it was one of our best defensive performances of the night. Outside of Baron Davis and Landry Fields, we kept their entire team in check. It was a good all around effort,"

(Michael Beasley chasing down Ronaldo Balkman to get the block)

"It felt really good being out there tonight," Kevin Love said. "The whole team played really well. We had good ball movement and most importantly hit our free throws. We've got a rough month ahead of us so it was nice to close out the year on a win,"

The Timberwolves' next month is riddled with back to backs and only one day of rest in between games. "I'm glad we went out and got help for our bench," Wesley Johnson said. "We'd be in a hell of a lot of trouble if Ricky had to play all of those minutes. It seemed like he was always on the court. Now with Norris he can get a good break if he needs it,"

Forward Derrick Williams saw the busy next month as an opportunity for the team, "We're a young team. I don't think this month will be as tough as the media is making it out to be. We're all pretty young so I think we can take the wear and tear,"

In an uncharacteristic moment for the T'Wolves, Norris Cole and Wayne Ellington started a run that widened the T'Wolves' lead early on in the second quarter. "Norris is doing a great job running our second unit and is mixing well with our starters as well. It's only going to get better," Adelman said.
