Foul Trouble Dooms T'Wolves
Rubio Fouls Out After Terrible Shooting Night
Charlotte, NC - Looking to expand on their fresh two-game win streak, the Timberwolves fell to the Bobcats in the second night of their back to back. The team was plagued with foul trouble the entire game, eventually leading to
Ricky Rubio fouling out with 30 seconds left in the game. "We played a sloppy, sloppy game out there tonight. I was surprised we kept it so close with all of the turnovers. We didn't get in the paint much either. The stats show that when we get down low, we win," coach
Rick Adelman said.
The top story from the night was
Ricky Rubio's terrible night from the field. Although he finished the game with a career high 14 assists, he only shot 2-10 from the field and sat on the bench for most of the second and third quarters.
Lucky for the Timberwolves, their new and improved bench play came to save the day.
Norris Cole and
Wayne Ellington injected life into the T'Wolves off the bench and helped them game a lead in the third. Adelman chose to keep the duo on the floor for the last five minutes of the fourth quarter instead of starters
Wesley Johnson and
Michael Beasley. "I wasn't having a good night out there,"
Wesley Johnson said in the locker room after the game. "I understand why coach did what he did. Of course you always want to be out there to make the game winning shot but Wayne and Norris played their asses off tonight and they deserved to be out there,"
Beasley on the other hand wasn't as diplomatic as his teammate. "I don't know why I was on the bench. I thought I had an alright night but it seemed to me like coach didn't trust me out there to take a big shot,"
Adelman refuted Beasley's comments during his portion of the post game press conference, "It's simple. Wayne and Norris were having fantastic nights tonight. These questions wouldn't be coming up if we had ended up winning the game. There's no controversy or anything going on here. I'm going to have a talk with Michael later tonight on our way make to Minneapolis,"
Derrick Williams attempted to save the day in the waning moments of the fourth quarter and hit two three point field goals before he was double teamed and
Kevin Love was forced to put up the last shot the Timberwolves would put up for the night. "I want to win you know?" Williams said. "I'm gonna do all that it takes to do it. These back to backs are rough but we're getting a day off tomorrow and then get Philadelphia at home. I'll be back, you just watch,"
(I forgot to take the second picture during the game. It got a bit intense. Oops)
