Knicks Light up Clippers in Home Opener
Carmelo Scores 44 in 119-89 Win
New York, NY -- It wasn't that Carmelo scored 44 points it was how efficiently he scored those 44 points. Anthony started off by scoring the game's first eight points and never slowed down. Melo scored 25 first half points and scorched the nets in the process on a blistering 73.7% shooting. He did it from deep too, shooting 4/6 from three, and was a very efficient 12/13 from the free-throw line. "That's what makes him so dangerous and so good. He can score from anywhere on the floor. He was draining threes, scoring with his back to the basket in the low-post, and off the bounce. When he gets going like that it truly is remarkable and borderline unbelievable." Said Knicks head-coach Mike D'Antoni.
Anthony's sidekick LaMarcus Aldridge chipped in with 18 points and 12 rebounds while point-guard Raymond Felton scored 11 points and dished out eight assists. Rookie shooting-guard Alec Burks rebounded from a poor NBA debut by scoring 12 points on 5/10 shooting and grabbing four rebounds and coming away with two steals.
On the losing side, Tim Duncan turned back the clock with a 20 point, 17 rebounds, two block game and Steve Nash finished with 12 points, six assists, and six rebounds. Shane Battier also had a nice game scoring 16 points and grabbing seven boards.
